Alan, is there a way to have the drop down for the clips to be moved to the postbit (maybe under the username) and when you pick a clip, have it automatically bring up the new reply with the clip already posted into it?

Alan @ CIT 06-01-2006 10:15 AM

Hi Boofo,

Not at the moment I'm afraid. Something along those lines was always on my todo list, but I'm afraid I haven't had a chance to look into it recently.

Thanks,
Alan.

Right now I have a link in the postbit that will do that but a drop down with many links in it would be better. I can send you what I have if that would help at all.

Alan @ CIT 06-01-2006 10:31 AM

Would you want the message your replying to to be quoted in the reply?

That might not be a bad idea. Maybe an option to turn that off and on? ;)

Alan @ CIT 06-01-2006 10:34 AM

Then I'm not sure what the difference will be to how it currently works :)

Is it just that you want to edit the reply before posting it?

Yes, It would be nice to have that option. All it would mean is that once I click one of the items in the drop, it would bring up the new reply with that item already in the message. Most often, I would click submit and it would be sent. But having the option to edit it first is always a good idea. Basically just having the drop down in the posbit would be the only real difference I guess. ;)

Alan @ CIT 06-01-2006 11:17 AM

I'm got some work to do on another mod first, but when that's done, I'll take a look at adding a "Reply with Quickclip" dropdown to each post as well as having one at the bottom, as well as adding an option to edit the reply before posting it.

If I haven't done it in a couple of weeks, remind me because I'll have forgotten :)

Thanks,
Alan.

No problem, sir. I'll see what I can come up with in the meantime. If I get anything on it, I will get the changes to you so you can add them. ;)

Antivirus 06-02-2006 01:52 PM

Alan,
I had contracted a dev here to build something very similar to this for me last year, it works on java script which allows you to insert the responses into the wysiwyg & title of the message, thus allowing you to edit it before sending or allowing you to append another response after the first. It also worked on usernotes, reputation, and send email (admincp) in addition to posts, threads, and PMs.

Who knows- it may assist in developing this hack, I am sure the dev we worked with wouldn't have a problem with it, so long as he were acknowledged in the event some of his code ended up being used.

If you're interested in checking out the code, please PM me. :)

Alan:

The editor is displaying the reply box weird.

I have attached the file what I am talking about.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Parker

Alan @ CIT 06-05-2006 07:57 PM

Antivirus: Thanks, I may take you up on that offer :)

Parker: If you let me know your forum URL I will take a look. I've never seen that before.

Thanks,
Alan.

Alan:

I fixed it by replacing

Code:

<div style="width:$stylevar[formwidth_usercp]" align="$stylevar[left]">
with

Code:

Love it.Easy/Quick install, Works great!;)
Great job!!

Is there any way to show the quick clip as the full clip made like a thread instead of a lil preview like it is?

Hi Alan

Reminder... as requested... :)

I'd love to see the option of previewing the clip before submitting it. This would be a huge benefit to the hack as it would allow generic team clips to be created that could then be used by the entire support team and amended accordingly to suit the reason for posting.

Alan @ CIT 07-12-2006 10:24 AM

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all about it :)

I'll try and start work on it again next week.

Thanks,
Alan.

TheMusicMan 07-12-2006 11:26 AM

Excellent Alan, thanks. This will certainly be a great enhancement to QC.

JayJay 07-19-2006 08:36 PM

Any ideas why following the use of a QuickClip I appear to get subscribed to a thread?

Any help appreciated :)

Julie 07-23-2006 11:23 PM

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but when I have the quickclip installed, deleting of PMs doesn't work properly. When you're in the showpm (viewing a pm), and tick the box delete, and delete this message, it simply goes back to the inbox, without deleting the pm!

If I remove the code you're supposed to add in the template showpm, it works again.

Help would be appreciated!

I don't think that has anything to do with this hack. Anytime you post in a thread you get subscribed unless you turn it off in your profile.

Even with Automatic Thread Subscriptions set to off in settings? I don't believe it's that, but thanks for suggesting it :)

Is anyone using QuickClip with Vb 3.6? I will be upgrading to 3.6 soon and just wanted to hear any feedback from anyone using this with 3.6. I don't expect it would cause any problems, but you never know, right? ;)

Dexter...

I have done some quick testing after upgrading a mirror test board and it seems to function just fine.

Dexter_kcd 08-27-2006 09:52 AM

Thanks. I upgraded a week ago and only just now did the template edits for this. Seems to work fine in 3.6, except that when I am viewing the quickclip.php page, the control panel menu on the left side is a bit messed up, some blank table rows. It seems some of the menu locations are using old phrase variables that 3.6 does not recognize, so some menu items are missing.

Minor inconvenience, once I finish in quickclip.php I can just go back to the main control panel page and everything is there. Maybe I'll see if I can edit the quickclip.php page to have the right items in the menu.

Dexter...

I installed this on VB 3.6.2

If you answer a thread using Quickclip you cannot answer the thread with quickclip and NOT your signature again.
for example if you have to answer a thread with two quickclips.

After using replying with the first quickclip the small checkbox for the signature is grey and cannot be changed.

This is the fist bug I have seen in the actual version.

Second bug is the Create Quickclip Template. Its on old template not usable in firefox cause the smiliebox is to big.

Can someone fix those two issues please?

dethfire 11-29-2006 01:44 AM

I would like this for 3.6 bump

wastemytime 01-16-2007 01:25 PM

Working and "bug free" are two different things.
