something has to be done for similar usernames, though i dont assume wont be a big problem, coz user a (named bob with x email address) and user b (named bob with y email address), expect 1 of them not to be a license holder or assuming both are not license holders.
1. We can take vb.org username as BASE (priority) and delete the users with different usernames but similar email id..

Will post more logic, if we really outta go ahead ;)

Well i hope they merge

I would say that the merger would be if nothing else convienient. But, I do spend equal time at both sites.. It is becoming more of an addiction than a hobby for me.. This scares me...

I don't want to say much at the risk of something changing because none of this is really set in stone yet.

vBt's style is planned to make an apperance here sometime after the merge, but not right off.

And the acounts will be merged aswell, we don't want anyone losing alot of posts after the merge because acounts did'nt get associated correctly. We won't be associating them by usernames because of the obvious problems that could arise, I belive someone already brought up a number of issues with that method so I won't take the time to re-type them.

Anyway, there will be an offical annoucment soon about the merge, so stay tuned for that, it should answer all questions that might arise :)

It will prolly be the same as they did when vb.com merged with vb.org. Using the emails i suppose.

How is this done btw?

I would love to merge together some archived boards I have... yet most usernames will be duplicated and not all will be linked together by email.

Is there a import and merge script somewhere? I'd love to test such a thing :D

All my boards are 3.0.3... downgrading during import?

It should work with 3.0.3, you can try looking around the impex forum and seeing if there are any issues with 3.0.3. You can always do a test import with back-ups of your forums databases, which I highly recomend you do before any kind of import anyway.
