Hmm, the borders are a bit too thick. I'll change that when I use this, ;).

Great work, I won't use this myself. But a nice addition all the same. ;)

i am getting this error

Warning: ChDir: No such file or directory (errno 2) in /home/delmon/public_html/forums/myvbindex.php on line 21

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/delmon/public_html/forums/myvbindex.php:21) in /home/delmon/public_html/forums/admin/functions.php on line 1573

Hi Delmon. That error means you've got the path to your forums wrong in your myvbindex.php file. It should be set to "/home/delmon/public_html/forums". Also, your myvbindex file should be in your root directory instead of your forums directory, unless there's some particular reason you prefer to have it in your forums directory. If you do want to leave it in your forums directory you can simply delete that line and that should fix the problem too. ;)

I'm working on the next version of mYvBindex now too. The next version will include an option for polls plus a few other things, and the coding will be much cleaner. :)

when will the madness stop?

you're so wrong. vbHome is the one and only original portal, coded entirely by me. the rest are all copycats, "improved" (actually deproved, since the no. of queries is doubled) with borrowed hacks from other people work.

if you look at the code everyone conviniently decided to use parts of my code, buddy.
not to talk that some of you are "amased" by nice html code but neglect the most important thing: the code.

FWIW, vBHome is almost entirely original. vBIndex "borrowed" a lot from vBPortal. mYvBIndex "borrows" from all the predecessors. :) From what I can see, vBHome has the most elegant code, with the least queries. That doesn't mean it's wrong, as long as credit is given where it's due.

That is true but from v2.1 I have re-written a majority of the PHP code for it and all credit has been given where its due. However vBindex will be repaced by a full portal written by scratch by me eventally anyway.

First of all "TECK" or should I call you nakkid, I never made any claim as to the nature or origin of any of these portals/front page hacks so I'm not sure where I am "wrong".

Second of all, I'm not your buddy TECK/nakkid. Hell I don't even know you and after this post, I don't think I want to either.

I don't care which one is the original, I don't care where the code was borrowed copied, and frankly, I could care less where even the most remote spark of creativity came from. The point is, instead of taking this attitude that your product is better, your code is better, all hail i'm the creator, bow before my l33tness, you should understand that while some of us enjoy the variety of hacks, we still reserve the right to pick and choose which hacks we want to install.

Your hack vbhome lite was

on 5-28-02. 3 months later (08-27-02), when you decided to reopen it with the help of your friend James Tingle who wrote the commercial version, vbindex was already alive by 08-04-02 and I was all over it as an alternative to both vbportal and vbhome.

Maybe instead of spreading yourselves (plural for ALL hackers) thin, a joint effort on projects like this would yield some amazing results, since they are in fact meant for US, the community.

Just my $0.02, take it for what it's worth.

1. i dont need to know also, i have enough friends.

2. that remark show how ignorant you are, related to php. yes it is important the code, how well written it is. that's what makes the difference between vBulletin and other bulletin boards out there who ripped their code, for example.

3. James Tingle never helped me with the code. in fact, i was helping him with certain aspects related to the commercial script. the script was closed due to ignorance of some people, not worth mentioning even their name, then reopen at a few vb.org friends request.

4. there is nothing to join in it. i'm not the type of person who take someone else's work(hacks) and stick them inside my hack. all my code is written by me and it will stay like that.

thanks
it is working fine with me
