more than likely gave his/her license out to a ripper who may of told them they would remove all customer info from the license..

(proof it's his/her warez site)

this thread, asking questions about a profile with this unique user in it who is a mod..
it's this user, who is also a mod on their site..
downloadsmasti.com/member.php?9235-GIRI

moral of the story.. don't run a warez site & if you do, don't play all innocent when your stuff gets stolen

PS... your site has been reported ;) Have a great day!

Wow. I didn't visit his / her site. It's surprising how silly someone would have to be to come here and request for help, when they know they are doing wrong. LOL

Good job on catching them on that. :D

well no one can really say how it was exploited, but there is exploites for the version on the hackers site http://www.securiteam.com/cgi-bin/ht...s=exploit+vb+4

I had someone try the calender exploit on my 4.1.1 site just yesterday after messing with the hackers site the other day

Lynne 01-21-2011 04:23 PM

Except if you read the details for the calendar exploit, it says:
Quote:

Vulnerable versions:
* vBulletin 2.0.3 and before

Immune versions:
* vBulletin 2.2.0 and later
The OP is not running vB2.

What? People post their customer number and password in here?

Or maybe you are suggesting people post their email address and password to that?

Pfft. Link/screenshot, or it didn't happen.

To be fair, the post says "People in here give that information out" and not "people give that information out in this forum". In any case I doubt it would "void the contract", but it might make them responsible for any abuse by the people they give it out to.

Well, the vB Team is made up of real people, right? Not like, robots and shiz. I'd figure that they could help out their customer, somehow. I mean, so long as he still has the same e-mail that's on file with the Team, I can't see how it would be so difficult for them to destroy the current license number and maybe grant the guy a new one.

(Granted I can barely understand the guy, so I don't even know if that's what's going on. Heh.)

Anyone who mentioned something about getting a Romanian host to actually do something about one of their customers has obviously not been around Romanian hosts very much. XD (No offense, it would have been a decent suggestion, otherwise.)

As for downloadmasti running a Warez site, I really don't see how his site's content has much of a bearing with the topic at hand, even if the content is illegal, so long as he is a legitimate customer of vBulletin. (Of course, that's assuming he IS a legitimate customer.)

To the OP, best thing you could probably do is talk to a human being on the vB Team that handles licensing. If you are indeed a legitimate customer of their, and you are still using the same e-mail registered at the vbulletin.com site, then they probably COULD help you. Assuming you're a legit customer, I'd have to think of them as [insert plural expletive] if the did not help.

Disregard that. The Terms of Service state:
Quote:

You may not use the Software to engage in or allow others to engage in any illegal activity where the Software is accessed and used. You may not use the Software to engage in any activity that will violate the rights of third parties, including, without limitation, through the use, public display, public performance, reproduction, distribution, or modification of communications or materials that infringe copyrights, trademarks, publicity rights, privacy rights, other proprietary rights, or rights against defamation of third parties.

So yar, sorry, OP. You are pretty much screwed.

Anyone who gives global FTP rights to someone, and doesn't immediately revoke them once the work is done, is liable for anything that they failed to keep secure.

but i never gave my ftp details or any details regarding my site or my license but dont know wht it happened

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what if i do this.. will my license will be with me

I dont want my lincense to be cancelled so,

I will close my site http://www.downloadsmasti.com completely

When the problem will be solved i will start my site again
i.e., after that site http://www.insecurity.ro/board/ not using my license files i will start my site

and how to know that they are not using my files

If i do this i think their will be no problem to my license

kall 01-22-2011 03:57 AM

Unless you forgot to include the part where the other site removes all your files, then no.

(I was replying to the person above, who alluded to the fact that people have others install mods and upgrades for them.)
