If you go into 'VSa - Server Overload Permissions' plugin and surround the PHP code with this if statement.

}

Users will still be able to register while the forum is closed for guests :up:

i have VB 4.2.0 PL2 installed and give me error

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/proc/loadavg) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/xxxx:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in [path]/includes/class_bootstrap.php(xxx) : eval()'d code on line 13

force to edit config.php disable hooks and uninstalled product

now all fine.

why doesnt this close the forums for everybody?

why close the forums? just redirect them to a page that refreshes ever 3 minutes and xfers them when the load is down...IF they are a guest.
