OK, this mod restores/reassigns posts from deleted users to a new user ID.
What if you don't kow the old username?
All the posts from deleted users are attributed to "Guest", but Guest is not a username.
I believe "Guest" is User ID 0 (?)... Can we have a from User ID option?

I deleted a user by accident about a year ago before we upgraded to 4.0, the user set up his account again and I just gave him a big post count as he was quite active. Will this still work in restoring back his original posts because he is set as guest.

Yes, the uid option is for the user under whom the deleted posts and threads of the deleted user will go. For the guest part, no uid can be assigned as that covers all the guests. That is why the old username for the deleted user is required. So it affects only that particluar "guest".

Yes, it will. Simply follow the instructions at the mod settings and you should be all set.

Since the old usernames are unknown, and I want to move all guest posts to a single usermane, it would appear you're now saying this mod will not do the job.

Am I correct?

I've tried it, and it does work for known deleted usernames... but that is not what my request was for when I was directed here... I want unknown usernames.

pant 07-02-2010 09:46 PM

Eh

Is there something wrong with you, how are you meant to restore someone that you don't know?

spillage 07-02-2010 10:11 PM

The original "Username"(s) is/are unknown... all posts are attributed to "Guest", which is not a username... I don't care what the original usernames are, I want all "Guest" posts (at this point) to be associated with a new username.

oh

Still think you're mental.

Do you remember the usernames of all the users you deleted 7 years ago?

I thought not.

And my mental state is not the question here... What I'm trying to achieve has always been the question... I was directed to this mod from the vB forums by borbole... it turns out that this mod will not do what I want.
