I've already gone through the forum and archived some mods that still interest me that haven't been updated to 3.5 or later.

Porting and updating old mods to work on my forums is kinda like a weird hobby to me...

I only wish I could have gone through the vB2 Archives before they got moved, there's a treasure trove of information in there that I missed out on...

Thanks for the advance warning though. :)

that's exactly right. A treasure trove of information awaiting to be ported. There are still many good hacks back in the 3.0.x days that have not been ported for one reason or the other and if given the time they might benefit the imagination of a coder to get ideas on how to port it.

Thats like less than 5%.

most likely but still a percentage that would end up benefiting maybe a much higher percentage if some were ported. Either way, just a suggestion for vb to consider.

There's no need for most of these hacks to be added to the core, but I couldn't find any versions for newer vB versions. (Well, I didn't exactly look hard, I mainly used the Similar Threads feature to determine whether it's worth archiving or not.)

The real question, though, is how many hacks that are available in the 3.0.x section are now paid products. The two that spring to mind are:

RPG System
Almost any type of elaborate SEO Plugin

Rap Battle System? I must have missed that one. I always just used threads. I can say that the Age Limit thing can be handled by vB core if you know how to work usergroups, and Triple Triad still continues to be updated. I think we'll see an RPG in the near future. Then there's TfSEO 2.

Rap Battle System is in the Beta Modifications forum.

I didn't know Triple Triad was still updated, I know I've looked for it previously too.

There was RPG Inferno but Inferno Technologies seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth.

I forgot about TfSEO.

3.0 does not use products .. all other versions after that use products .. so i think they not gonna remove mods after 3.0
