No, there is no timeline. The site is running quite happily on 3.6.x atm.

so there probably wont be an upgrade to 4.0?

i think the reason so many people are asking is because it's great to see some mods in action on a forum software that they are using.

on my 3.8 board i was always getting inspired by other boards for features. especially from vb.org. with the chief posts, downloads (installs), etc. i got so much off this site. i often checked other people's sites too. but when you find decent functions on other people's forums, half of the time you can't find a mod/plugin for it here. so i gave up on checking out other people's forums a while back.

vb.com doesn't use mods so it's always been great for me to see on vb.org what vbulletin can really do. and i'd often even use it as a reference for people that i'd design forums for. but with 4.0 looking so much better than 3.6-8 i can't really do that anymore. and i'm sure there are more people in the same or atleast a similar boat as me.

by the way who kicked nexialys? how come he's only a guest now?

i'm sorry i replied to this old thread but it seems as though all the new "why aren't we on 4.0 threads" are closed after a moderators reply saying "look for on of the many other when are you updating posts".

and how do you think this one is going to end then...?

Dismounted 01-26-2010 04:13 AM

There will be an upgrade eventually - as soon as all the necessary modifications have been planned, coded and tested. How soon is that? I don't know.

Wordplay 01-26-2010 07:32 AM

thanks for replying dismounted. i'm sure there will be an update at some point. the question is really whether it'll be around the 4.0.x era, the 4.1.x era, or the 4.5.x-5.x.x era.

We will most likely perform the next major upgrade of vBulletin.org using vBulletin 4.0.x.

ChopSuey 01-26-2010 08:01 AM

Hopefully 4.0.2 :D
