I have a can in front of me, it simply says "Do not apply Directly to Animals".

I/We use it all the while - and our dog has yet to die ......

Animal experts will disagree, Paul M. In any case here's a quote from Raid's official website:

Quote:

Caution: Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid breathing spray mist. Avoid contact with skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Provide adequate ventilation of area being treated. Do not apply to humans, pets, or plants, or contaminate feed, foodstuffs, dishes, or utensils. Cover and avoid spraying fish aquariums. Cover or remove exposed food, dishes, utensils, and food handling equipment. Keep out of reach of children.
The company will only place a clause if there's the slightest chance of something harmful happening.

How about sealing where they are getting in from? Also boiling hot water kills ants.

I've tried the thorough cleaning approach, and they still came back to where I am trying to get of them most importantly from (my worksurface). I also tried the sweetener and that hasn't put them off.

The ants are on a mission to get you. :D Actually the ants will only go where the food is at. There is something in their path that they scent.
