there is an edit function in admincp once they entered something

via phpmyadmin you could insert it in the table. The marker.xml is created by updating a marker or running the cron

Just overwrite the vbgooglemapme.php file and upload the product XML again to set the version numbers of the files and templates.

Shazz 08-21-2007 11:25 PM

I have a number of markers but the marker count on the main page shows 0. I have removed $footer and run the cron job, but no markers are showing. Suggestions?

Exact same problem here. About 65 markers in the database. XML file permission is set to 777 and I forced an update by manually running the CRON and it still doesn't work.

Yesterday it was working fine.

Edit: I found the problem with mine. A user added an image and used full html code to it which broke the XML. If you are having the same issue and can't find where it is, open http://www.yourdomain.com/yourforumpath/markers.xml with Firefox and check where the error occurs. This only applies if you had the addon working and it suddenly broke for no reason.

Remember to manually run the cron tab after editing the offending marker, otherwise the file markers.xml won't be updated right away.

dutchbb 08-26-2007 09:36 AM

Great hack. Is it possible to NOT show certain usergroups in the legend?

pedrovazquez10 08-26-2007 01:36 PM

Excuse me, but the mysql injection problem was announced one post after my first post on this page and after that it wasn't mentioned, neither was there a statement about it, so how could I have read anything about this?

... there was a mysql injection problem mentioned yesterday or the day before in version 3.0.1. in the first post in red and it was in the graveyard. You probably missed it, and nothing was said about this afterwards and the thread is opened again quickly after this. SO my guess is that it has been solved, but no statement was made about it.

Have you got a link to that post? Are you sure you are not thinking about the Hot Spot edition? It has not been fixed yet.

towermatt 08-29-2007 05:33 PM

bet that is what it was. :D

dutchbb 08-30-2007 09:47 PM

Hm ok it seems that it was... my bad i guess

dougeetx 09-04-2007 02:37 AM

Sorry if this has been asked b4 but is this compatible with 3.6.x ??

RedGTiVR6 09-04-2007 03:36 AM

I'm running it on 3.6.8 currently. Been running it since 3.6.4 I believe?

msudawgs64 09-05-2007 09:57 PM

just installed it last night on my board. Very nice. Only had one glitch but that was a user error, me being the user. Got that figured out. Since I run a college sports related board, I use the image section to put an image of my favorite team's logo.

MagiKelly 09-13-2007 08:53 AM

I reinstalled as soon as the new version came out and it worked fine. Updated to the latest and it still worked fine but for some reason I am now getting an error on the page message and the markers are not being plotted.

If I go to the list view I can see the members who have added themselves and all the information so that is still working. The map also displays okay but no markers. I have not added any new modifications and have checked the file permissions. I even uploaded the files again just in case they had got corrupt.

Anybody any idea what has happened?

Blackhat 09-13-2007 08:56 AM

Huthy 09-16-2007 10:39 AM

THANK YOU!!!!!

I have been reading pages of "solutions" for this problem, and your tip of loading the XML in Firefox to locate the dodgy entry is PURE GOLD.

Found the error, removed the problem and at last... my Map is showing the members markers.

Again... thanks for your post.

S@NL - BlackBik 09-16-2007 10:41 AM

Hi guys,

About the markers. Had the same problem, they didn't show.
They all came back after I went to the admin panel and designated other marker colors to the usergroups in "ME Usergroup marker" in the admin panel. After running the googlemap cron, all markers showed again. :)

Hope this will help.

MagiKelly 09-16-2007 02:56 PM

I found my problem to. One of the recent entries had an & symbol and that caused the error.

jimjam 09-26-2007 08:13 AM

I am looking to build a map of football team locations so when members look at a map they can see push-pins. When they click on the pin the details will appear. Will this mod allow me to do this or is it strictly members locations only

mash 09-26-2007 02:46 PM

Yes, there appears to be a problem when entering http: location for image other than the default. xml fix works as a workaround, but any long term fix?

StarBuG 10-03-2007 10:33 AM

Hi

I have this problem for a long time now.
If I view the user list which have set their marker on the map, the link "Show on map" does not work.
It brings you to the map but it does not focus nor zoom onto the member

Any Idea how to fix this?

Za4a Tuner 10-06-2007 10:53 AM

I found a "little Bug"

if someone will post -> " <- at the markers title ==> NO markers will be shown at the googlemap!!!

example:
title of the marker: my home ===> all markers will be shown!
title of the marker: "my home" ===> NO markers will be shown!!!!

ShackMaster 10-07-2007 05:55 AM

We do need a permanent fix for the markers issue. I keep having to check the map every few weeks and it seems there is always someone who has stuck something in there that makes the markers disappear and I have to go through the routine of clearing the marker and the user entry.

This product is marked as supported, but it doesn't appear to be supported since this bug has been ongoing for some time now.

A permanent fix would be great! Thanks!

mxracer95 10-10-2007 08:31 PM

I just installed this. This is awesome. I only wish it was easier to plot your location, like using your zip code.

Guest191216 10-13-2007 11:16 AM

Hi,
I installed the addon, without error messages, until I came to the cron job.

How do i get a hold of that Special Xbox Live version?

rolloffhill 10-22-2007 11:01 PM

This has been working fine, but now its not. It was brought to my attention that the pins don't show up. I looked through the members and no one used quotes around anything. What gives?

Ditto, userlist is correct but no pins on the map. :(

Kahuna900 10-24-2007 08:57 PM

Also, the downloaded zip file is corrupted.

MagiKelly 10-25-2007 07:19 AM

The problem will be with the pictures the users have linked to. If they put anything in this field other than a 100% correct picture URL none of the pins will show.

This has been discussed on the thread on this mod in the 3.6 add-ons section. I ended up changing a line of the code to ignore any picture URLs and it works fine now.
