how can moderators og admin remove clips from the Media Library?

basilrath 09-29-2010 05:27 PM

Go to the particular clip concerned then "edit" then deleting them

charl13dontsurf 09-29-2010 06:56 PM

Am I crazy, or did I have a admincp option set and not just inline administration from the actual CMS? Anyhow, my admincp stuff for 8WayRun are now missing. I can't for the likes of me figure out why or how - after re-installing, etc etc.

Running VB /w CMS 4.07.

Thanks!

hotslot 09-29-2010 09:20 PM

Come on Jaxel please help answer these questions, I also paid $50.00 and now your abandoning the project?

hotslot 09-29-2010 09:28 PM

Does anyone know how to add a banner or logo above the Media Library section only?

Footman 09-30-2010 02:08 PM

Still trying to work out allowing members upload their own videos then be able to post them in various places like threads, blogs etc.

So how about this...

I get a video sharing script, like clipbucket, where they can share videos and then somehow attache those videos through this mod to vB?

Can that work?

This error comes to me......plzzzz help!

(USERNAME), you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

basilrath 10-02-2010 10:40 AM

well have you tried the obvious .........

usergroups> permissions

They are set to no by default so check and adjust as needed?

Just so people know... this next version will probably be the LAST vB4 version of this mod. I'm done with vB4 and plan on moving over to XenForo as soon as I can. If you have any requests, get them in now.
Perhaps you should even wait for vb4.1..is supposed to be a good version.

I paid $300 to have Internet Brands treat me and the rest of their customers like garbage; and you say I should give them even more chances? How do you know VB4.1 is "supposed to be a good version"? IB doesn't have any communication with their customers; they don't have clear goals or timelines listed out. Whats going to make 4.1 any better than 4.0? Is it a complete rewrite of their horrible engine? Does it undo all the completely illogical design flaws in VB4? I doubt it. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice...

You know who didn't treat their customers like garbage? Jelsoft.

cherylferraro 10-02-2010 10:26 PM

hmmmm... I paid you for a mod that you still have listed as supported with a roadmap for future development. A few days ago you casually stated that you're abandoning the project to retaliate against Internet Brands because they treat their customers badly?

It is hypocritical of you to abandon your own customers because you're having a temper tantrum... Please return my $50.

Xaices 10-03-2010 12:14 AM

Does any one happen to have a G4TV.com xml for this mod.

Found the gametrailers.com xml got it running, unfortunately that is the only major games video provider I could find in the xml folder.

Thank you,

Due to the recent announcement of Internet Brands suing XenForo, I have decided to stop updating my vBulletin mods, as I am not in support of these anti-competitive practices.. From now on, my main focus will be on the development of XenForo modifications.

That last update to this mod I promised... sorry, but it's not coming.

Walter 10-04-2010 07:39 PM

Well said.

and how exactly will that have the slightest effect on IB ?

The only people you are hurting is those who use your modification, what have they done wrong ?

entertain 10-04-2010 08:39 PM

@Paul:

We don't want to punish the vBulletin customers. One of the biggest profiteers of this platform is Internet Brands due to the huge choice of free modifications. Why should we support THEM?

In my opinion vBulletin is digging it's own grave.

MrD 10-04-2010 08:42 PM

Hi,
@Paul M: a realy good Statement :)
to stop or delete any content oder Modsupport is a kick ass to the User that use realy good Articles and Mods here.

i think an Coder is now a Baby that have lost here rattle.

@Entertein: whats with your Modjob at vbseo, are giving there up ?
Maybe it?s a company ,that bring Money and User to IB ?

cherylferraro 10-04-2010 08:57 PM

Well said Paul. I was thinking the same thing.

I sent jaxel $50 a couple of weeks ago and was going to send $100 more for 2 other sites when I stumbled upon his posts saying he was abandoning the mod. He seems to think that screwing over vb users will give him street cred over at xenforo.

If any developers want to reverse engineer jaxel's mod, improve it and keep it up to date with vb4's evolution I'm willing to pay for at least 3 licenses. I'd bet there are other forum owners that would do the same.

That would be illegal.

This is not about screwing over other admins who use my mods. The power of vBulletin has always been it's community of modification authors. I myself am a former UBBHacker member, and have a college degree focused on PERL programming, but I sitll chose vBulletin over UBB back in the day because of the community. In the long run, if the modification community abandons vBulletin, it will hurt IB's ability to sell product based on that aspect.

Any money you or anyone else has donated for this mod is exactly that: a DONATION. This mod is free, thus you should expect to get the support from this mod as if it were free... this is not a paid modification so you should not expect the level of support you would get from another mod that you may pay hundreds of dollars for. $50 is not a payment to use this mod, its just the ability to legally remove the copyright notice from the footer.

I said that I am not updating MY mods anymore. I have never talked about vbseo. ;)

MrD 10-04-2010 09:23 PM

Hi,
@ entertain: thats an Ethnic Question :)

cherylferraro 10-04-2010 10:06 PM

Jaxel, I'm not a lawyer but I don't think it's illegal to create a similar mod if they don't copy your code. You don't own the exclusive right to create a mod that embeds media...

I was a UBB user back in the day. Rick was good at what he did but ubb didn't keep up with the development of vb. My decision to move to vb wasn't based on this community. I just wanted to use the best software to build my own community.

Do you think that your unethical behavior is the kind of endorsement that will entice admins to move over to xenforo? If you're unreliable here why should anyone trust you to support your work anywhere else?

danrak 10-05-2010 12:53 AM

If this guy does not want to support his mod due to IB actions, then he does not have too. I do not see why all the hate. He created it, he gave it for free, and he is choosing not to, for his own reasons. His reasons are his own, who cares why.

@cherylferraro Seems like IB thinks it is illegal for similar actions.

cherylferraro 10-05-2010 01:36 AM

Ironic, isn't it?

jaxel condemns IB for their legal theatrics but has adopted the same legal stance when defending his own work.

I apologize for being too harsh with jaxel. I really do like his mod and am frustrated that he abandoned it out of spite without concern about the problems that it creates for those of us that have incorporated it into our communities.

DragonByte Tech 10-05-2010 01:44 AM

We at DBTech have had little run ins with Jaxel in the past, and while we won't be following him in ceasing work on our vB Mods (due in no small part to the obligation we feel towards our users/customers), I think that this is a case of someone making a stand for something they feel strongly about, rather than any sort of tantrum or spiteful action.

While i may not necessarily agree with the actions he is taking, I certainly respect the reasons behind it and hope that people find an amicable way around the rock/hard place situation.

Just my $0.02 on the matter.

Iain

Jaxel 10-05-2010 01:54 AM

DBTech, yes, we've had our run ins. But I have since admitted that I was wrong, and I'm hoping that we've put the sour period behind us. You sell professional versions of your products am I right? Then you have a fiduciary responsibility to keep your mods going, as you have customers who have paid for your software. All of my software is available for free; therefore I answer to no one.

We certainly have Jaxel, I was simply putting the context there so people would understand that my words came not out of a close relationship/friendship with yourself, but out of an honest observation and interpretation of the situation: That the actions you took were to support something you believed in, and not spiteful or "tantrums" as was suggested =)

(Nor did I intend to suggest in any way that you were answerable to the people who choose to use your modifications, I apologise if that is what came across)

RobbieZ 10-05-2010 06:58 AM

I really do suggest you move this conversation or cease and continue with the thread topic as it was intended to be.

I will gladly offer any assistance to newbs or other members who are having problems with this mod as long as it is available for download and Jaxel continues to allow it.

Although hoster xml's are not my fort? everything else I can kind of put my finger on, as it is an awesome mod.

Thanks Jaxel, and wish you well in whatever you do.

:)

basilrath 10-05-2010 07:47 AM

I agree with Robbie on this one - the mod is excellent and certainly worth all the effort to carry on if Jaxel allows this obviously. The thread however should now be kept on track with the IB confrontation and XenForo left to the lawyers for litigational reasons.

The whole issue seems "messy" but i for one certainly thank you for the mod as it stands.

CharlieDelta 10-05-2010 01:42 PM

This is really disappointing as I wanted to download this mod today.
