@punchbowl - What should be ahppening is that the smilie should b replaced by :-) - you got something wihch seems to interfere with that. Remove the "replacement variables" defined in this style to show all images (including smilies) inline.

Dartho everything is looking great.

I have been so busy with work I haven't stopped by in a long time.

I actually adapted one of your first versions so much ... I'm scared to try and upgrade ;)

If this has been posted before please ignore... I haven't gone through it all yet. I have been testing caching. I noticed that my BlackBerry was caching an awfully lot on the 3.7 version.

I kept having to refresh when clicking a link. I have added the following META tags to the style and I'm letting it sit for a week or two to get a good test:

Code:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Cache-Control" CONTENT ="no-cache">
or

Code:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="expires" CONTENT="0">
*NOTE*: I only added it to the online template, search template and forum home template. I realize that it can slow things down a bit, but having to refresh was getting annoying ;)

Have you thought about caching or has anyone else had this issue?

Seems vBulletin only sets cache headers on Forum home:
Code:

        <!-- no cache headers -->
        <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
        <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1" />
        <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache" />
        <!-- end no cache headers -->

I've not noticed any issues on my own site using PocketIE on a windows mobile device, but it makes sense...

I had the same problem and I noticed that the adv_portal template (likely from vBAdvanced had this code:

PHP Code:

<if condition="$pages['name'] == 'home'">
    <
meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache" />
    <
meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
    <
meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0" />
</if>

So, I removed the <If ... <//if> and my vBAdvanced pages are no longer cached!

Next, I went into the mobile style and mofified the headinclude value to add the following:

PHP Code:

    <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache" />
    <
meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" />
    <
meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0" />

Now my Blackberry does not cache anything on my forums but that is a good things as forum content is always changing!

Lastly, I also modified the navbar template to add links to the pages my users are most likely going to use from their mobile device:

PHP Code:

<class="navbar" href="$vboptions[bburl]/search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getnew">$vbphrase[new_posts]</a>
<
class="navbar" href="$vboptions[bburl]/search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getdaily">$vbphrase[todays_posts]</a>
<
class="navbar" href="$vboptions[bburl]/search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=process&showposts=0&exactname=1&searchuser=$bbuserinfo[username]">My Posts</a
<
class="navbar" href="$vboptions[bburl]/search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=process&showposts=0&starteronly=1&exactname=1&searchuser=$bbuserinfo[username]">My Topics</a

Note that My Posts and My Topics are not vBulletin phrases SO if you update the style you might need to create a product.xml file to add these :confused:

Lastly, I made some changes to vBAdvanced to remove the vBAdvanced integrations from pages shown to this style and I posted the details on what was needed here:

http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28355

I hope that helps someone else.... :up:

You can see my site here:

http://www.timeshareforums.com/mobile

Note I have made other changes to the style and templates that I can't try to list here!

How can i allow mobile viewers swith mobile style to PC style on mobile device ?

dartho 10-31-2008 11:20 AM

Installing this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=182692) addon will give you options to show the style chooser or a show link to your default style

I have vb 3.7 and found that I had to edit the USERCP template to hide the social group link when appropriate. Just needed to add this if wrapper around the link:
Code:

<if condition="$show['socialgroupslink']">
<a href="group.php?$session[sessionurl]">$vbphrase[social_groups]</a> <br />
</if>

Would you be using this autodetect add-on? If so, users can't change the style as that add-on is designed to force them to the mobile style.
