it had notin to do with this mod at all, it was with the stock trader mod.

We've discussed making our own addons later for systems like this. Currently the focus is streamlining this mod to make it easer for end users to install and setup. Darks working on some amazing stuff for this currently. Including vbcommerce which is best left for discussion on our site.

that would be awsome if yall would make some addons that would compliment this mod

First of all I want to say that vBCredits is great hack. I am working on upgrade process from vB3.6 to vB3.7 (which means also upgrade of vBCredits v1.3 to v1.4rc2) and I just bumped into one unpleasant feature/bug of vBCredits v1.4rc2.

In vBCredits v1.3 there are two options regarding earning reputation points:
  • 1. Positive Reputation Credit (Awarded when these users receive positive reputation.)
  • 2. Negative Reputation Credit (Awarded when these users receive negative reputation. You probably want this to be negative as a penalty.)
So when I recalculate user credits in "Update Counters", users will get correct amount of credits (positive amount of credits for positive reputation and negative amount of credits for negative reputation).

In vBCredits v1.4rc2 there is only one option regarding earning reputation points:
  • 1. Received Reputation Credit (Applied when the user receives reputation. Can be set to multiply against the amount of reputation received.)
In "Configure Award Settings" is also "Award Negation Multiplier" which is responsible for realtime earning negative amount of credits for negative reputation (that works fine), but when I use "Mass Credit Updater" for recalculate amount of credits earned for reputation points, then every reputation is awarded by positive amount of credits - by other words every neutral (from users without possibility to spread reputation points yet) and even negative reputation is awarded by positive amount of credits :-(. Darkwaltz4, please, Is it real bug or there is something else for adjusting this?

sounds like a bug.. ill look into it and post to my bug tracker if you havent already.

as for the award change in reputation, giving negative rep is awarded as (negation multiplier) * (positive reputation award), if reputation is checked as an applicable negation award in the global award settings for vbcredits.

sounds like you enabled the post award system unlimitedly for regular members. if you send me an admin login i can take a look at your settings to make sure.

When installing this, does the section have to be named vbcredits, or can we name it something else? Same thig with "credits", can we change it to "coins" or "cash" or any other custom names?

Also, I know that the same post keeps getting linked in response to this, but I fail to find the answer in the post or on the vbcredits website, but what can the credits be used for? vbcredits just does the points, but vbcommerce is what can turn points into money to be spend on little user-made shops on the forums, right? How do users go about making these shops, and where are members' owned items stored or displayed?

Generally "vBCredits" does not appear on the public forum area except in the copyright line. The term for points "Credits" is a phrase and can be easily changed in your language manager. This phrase is also linked to in the very first option in the global vbcredits settings.

vBCredits is a points system. You can use these points for pretty much anything, only some of which ive made myself for everyone else. You dont have to wait for me to integrate them with something else, and theres more to spending points than for postbit icons :p Theres even a few other existing shops which can be configured to use credits if you really wanted. For full list of whats already available and whats in development (as well as where you can suggest more) go to vbcredits.com

I have the negation award= -1

whats wrong

in 1.4rc1 there were some fatal bugs with the negation of post/thread awards. as a temporary fix i removed that functionality so that you could at least delete that stuff again without problems. it will be returned fixed in the final version.

Hi, I just got one question before I'd like to install this addon.

Is there a system in the hack or an extra addon which people could use there points to promote themselves.

I currently run a site where people get extra content when they are promoted. After a month they get sent back to their original group just like a subscription. So is it possible for the members to use up points to get promoted?

not yet, but on the list of things im working on.

What is the max amount of credits allowed? One user maxed out at 3 billion and it reset it. Is there a way to make the amount more?

Darkwaltz4 07-04-2008 04:00 AM

3 billion? im pretty certain ive gotten it up to like 100+ places and i just stopped trying to get any higher. It is possible that the exact max is specified by your mysql server settings for the signed DOUBLE datatype.

I think the only way to allow upwardly more is to require you to have a arbitrary precision math module installed with your php, but thats server intensive and personally unncessary - i recommend that you consider scaling your award/cost amounts down a bit instead.

Do you have any publicly joinable usergroups at your forum? Because if so, I heard that might be how they got so many credits, so you should scale down all the usergroup credit options and not just the default ones.

is there anything to spend these on?
