<font color="Red">a lot of bugs + no support = uninstall</font> :tired:

Immortal 06-07-2006 01:26 AM

There's a few bugs, and support has been given. Bug reports have not been answered as we are fixing them, and if we need more information we will reply. Otherwise note it as fixed in the next version. We rather be fixing bugs rather than replying to existing ones. If you don't like the hack, then that's good for you for uninstalling it, but I do not care, and I doubt others do as well.

almukmin 06-08-2006 06:51 AM

I have uninstalled it, lots of bugs. One stupid one though:

Why do u make the showthread to be a folder/filename.html rewrite?
It should be just a filename.html because when you want to go back to the index.php, it'll go to an invalid page because it's in a folder which doesn't even exist, you know what I mean?

That's the only main issue right now, fix it please.

ThomasR 06-11-2006 11:46 AM

I also have the problem with the quick reply. impossible to post a message with the quickreply, nothing happens. Same with edit button: clicking on it make nothing happen (then, no editor)

Edit: I change the option "Path Settings" to Full path, and now, quick reply and edit are working. If it can help to find the problem :)

Hypocrisy 06-12-2006 04:01 AM

In the online.php page I get the following error instead of the Threadname:

"Unknown Location"
"musica/t-need-concert-dates-in-greece-433.html"

Why is this?

EDIT: Is there a way to remove this dreadful footer?:
"vRewrite 1.5 beta SEOed URLs completed by Tech Help Forum and Chalo Na."

PS. Sorry if I ask a question many have asked before, but I didn't find anything while searching.

SeV3n 06-12-2006 10:13 AM

Quick reply doesnt work with Opera 9 and vrewrite enabled.

No problem found with IE and Firefox.

subnet_rx 06-13-2006 03:28 AM

With this enabled, what happens when a user clicks a search engine link that has the old links in their database? Does it automatically forward the user to the rewritten link?

i wouldnt mind this is it availible... sorry im new to this hack :D

moonshield 06-14-2006 02:49 AM

hello. I have a really dumb question but I can't find "$headinclude" (step 3 in the installation instructions). Am I supposed to be looking in forumdisplay.php?

Thanks.

jdingman 06-14-2006 02:59 AM

Immortal: Maybe someone should close this thread with a reminder that there is a new forum within vbulletin.org for vRewrite...

moonshield 06-14-2006 04:55 AM

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't see that.

Anyways I figured it out.

Thanks for the great mod. It works perfectly for me.

Immortal 06-14-2006 07:33 PM

All support should be handled in the forum :)

jdingman: I would love to do that. But, I think a locked thread to some may seem like a dead project. Plus posting upgrades would be rather difficult.

Isn't that why there is a new forum for it instead of this thread??

Brandon Sheley 06-15-2006 03:05 AM

is there a link in the first post to the support forums ?

I think it'd be nice and easy to fix if we figure out how Bwhuan does his showthread rewrite, and add a few more 'replacements' for the hack's plugin, and it should work out, but I don't know... For now, I've got my vRewrite disabled until I can get more confirmation as to how to make sure it doesn't break the post thank you hack.

I'd also appreciate a solution for the "Post thank you hack." In the meantime, I've disabled the product. All other things seem to work fine and I have dozens of hacks installed.... I'm sure it's not on your priority list to make your product compatible with every other hack, but if you should ever have some free time to work on a solution, I'm sure it would be much appreciated by quite a few admins, Bhuwan.

Keep up the good work. :)

Yeah, but not everyone can read about the forum it seems. Plus we're still getting installs, so this thread still must be getting shown!

Hello Everyone,

We have opened up vRewrite.com. I know, I know. Why, yet another one? It's confusing enough as-is! The vRewrite thread is over 100 pages long, it's a mess. We realize that. But when members post same questions over and over, it's very frustrating. Let me reiterate that: it's very frustrating. So if I have ever snapped at you, that's why. We contacted vB.org staff to create the vRewrite forum to try and rectify this issue. It failed. At least in my eye's. It did not solve the issues that we still face. We needed multiple forums, and not just one. Sub-forums would just create even more of a mess.

Thanks to jlaine, who very kindly donated a vB license to use, we have opened up vRewrite.com. We hope over time you will begin to use this, but we understand why you may not. Getting this forum alone has created confusion, and now we have added this into the mix. We will still provide support via the forum, but the people on vRewrite.com will get priority support as they are very kind to us developers and wish to help ease the mess on us. But let me reiterate that once more, we will still provide support via the forum. Thread as it is now, is still not a support place. Just general discussions etc.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of us.

Thanks,
vRewrite Team

I tried to install this on vB 3.6 Beta 2, however smilies won't be displayed any more when you use the inline editing of posts.

Howdy,

Right now it's just for 3.5. I haven't had time to play with 3.6 personally myself yet. And let alone test vRewrite for it. Sounds like an variate of an existing bug however.

Icheb 06-20-2006 05:32 PM

It's sort of obvious that it's only for 3.5, however I gave it a shot and that's all I found so far.

I tried to make this hack work on my forum .. managed to get it hmmm like 90% working.. but then got mad at one point and uninstalled it.. I don't have a testing forum so I was doing my thing on my live forum.

anyways.. this is not my problem.. the problem is when I uninstalled .. everything.. the forum is still showing some threads in html .. that made more more  .. there is no htaccess file.. there is no hack installed and there are not temp modifications.. why is it still showing html files.. my users are complaining that some of the forum sections are not working..

I know that.. but I don't know what to do.. can anyone help me please.. this is kind of urgent..

thanks

Immortal 06-21-2006 06:51 PM

Hi, I have installed this great mod, but I have a small problem.
for many categories it shows in html properly, but for threads there is not change its as usal as it was earlier.
any idea why this is happening?

I have forum on a subdomain, I doubt this is to do with this, the subdomain is like subdomain.mainsite.com, and subdomain too has its own htdocs, folder should i make Rewritebase to / or /forums/htdocs? pls suggest.
Thanks in Advance!

Hi!

I installed vRewrite on forums.razordolls.com but id didn't work!

The htaccess says:
Code:

RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)-page(.*).html showthread.php?t=$3&page=$4&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)/page(.*).html showthread.php?t=$3&page=$4&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*).html/(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$3&%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes [L]

But the page is accessed as
http://forums.razordolls.com/sexahol...-page2-25.html

So it doesn't work!!!

Has noone noticed this??

Hello guys,
I'm sorry if this question is asked before, but its really hard to find out what to do,
This aint working for you, gives me 404 error all the time after opening forum home.

I'm using IIS + Plesk 7.6, And I really cant find what to do !

First question :
Where is .htaccess to be uploaded ?
a) on forum directory
b) on root directory

Second question :
Is my .htaccess fine ? Is there anything to be added or what does Rewrite Base do ?
http://desipirate.com/forum/admincp/...e_htaccess.php
You people can check it !

Waiting for lovely solution.

Amaresh :)

ConqSoft 07-02-2006 07:58 PM

IIS doesn't support .htaccess files. You'll have to use something like ISAPI_Rewrite.
