I'm also having this problem. I have a new users usergroup where people have to post a couple times before they get promoted into the registered users usergroup... the promotions work fine but the markers and the list are not updated. I rebuilt the bitfields just in case that had something to do with it but nothing changed, I ran the cron and I even edited the members' entry without changing anything and saved it.

I haven't tried reinstalling the product, is that the only next option?

There are so many pages on this thread and I just installed this.

I am not seeing a balloon for myself, unless I click on "Your entry" and then i see my ballon, I dont see it on the larger map

Any ideas?

Hello,

I installed (again) but cant figure out how to add locations.

I add myself, as admin and registered user. But i dont see any balloon.

What doe a user have to do to get his location on the map?

Great modification! I installed it and got it working.

Initially my markers were not showing up. I followed the PDF to the step, so I viewed the source inside the compiled .php file and noticed all the missing images had the same name: mm_20_.png. In the Administration Panel -> VBGooglemapME -> ME Usergroup Marker, I had to set the Markers before anything would show up. There were no default colors loaded. This might be something to address.

I got the postbit working and now I'm making changes to it. I failed initially because I wasn't editing the legacy postbit.

I had a few suggestions / requests:
1) Show avatars by default.
2) Change the maps' tooltips. I have never played with Googlemaps API before, but I've seen a few sites that work a little better, such as this one, where it automatically could show the username when moused-over, then clicking could reveal the current menu. The reason I dislike the current tooltips is because if entries are close together, you either must click the (X) to close them or find another one far enough away to let you change the selected marker, rather than simply mousing-over to see who's who. I hope this makes sense.
3) Add a warning to the map (maybe configurable in the panel) that tells people that it could take 10 minutes to show new entries on the map. This was an easy enough hack though.
4) Have an option to show usersonline (as in the main forum listing) below the map or its key.

Thanks again for a great plugin, I'm going to play with it extensively.

Edit - realized the default zoom (when clicking the postbit option) is 10, and it's hardcoded into the XML
Edit 2 - does the color of the marker actually change if a user is offline?

This is indeed a wonderful hack and so far so good it appears to be working but with one slight problem.

I have set the legend to show admin, supermod, and registered usergroup makers and have switched the others to zero. In doing so the rejected usergroups were all assigned the yellow marker. Admin was assigned red, supermod was assigned green and registered was assigned light blue.

When I go to re-place my marker it shows up as red, however on the main map it shows up as yellow (ie not one of the visible usergroups). Why is this?

Love the mod. Obviously well thought out and packaged. The marker colors are messing with me a tad as well if someone ever had a secondary usergroup or was in a different group.

Have installed and it seems to work but cannot get the markers to show and it doesn;t seem to work on a mac.

Ditto - I installed everything as per instructions (even though a couple of steps aren't 100% clear I figured it out), set the permissions, CHMOD'd the xml and still, no markers being saved.

vB3.6 - help would be appreciated as this app looks great!

Aha - fixed it. I had it set to "moderate" the posts... I didn't see where those were, but whatever, it works great now! :)

For me the pins did not show up until I went into the VbGoogleMaps control panel and manually configured the icon for each usergroup.

Nice work. I installed it in my Tesforum.

But I have the same problem like some others.

When I try to set my marker, it says that I have to fill out all required information.

Maybe I'm too stupid...
There ist text in every field and a marker on the map.

What's wrong?

@Kwikms: Admin-CP: Sprachen & Phrasen -> Sprachen hochladen/herunterladen -> XML-Sprachdatei importieren.
(Sorry for german, but I only know the german translation of the menu ;) )

I just install it. So i get an empty map.. I still dont understand how this one is working..

Is there anything I can do to speed up the load time? Since I installed it 5 days ago I now have over 100 entries, and it sometimes hangs for a minute while loading.

Is it possible to add key locations into the map?

IE: I run a Car Owners Club and we have regular meets in locations around the UK< would it be possible to add these locations on the map?

I really don't want the bannes users group to appear there, even if the do not have the right to use the map.

Did all, went to upload the product, got this error message:

A conflict was detected in the bitfields. You cannot continue with the installation of this product until this has been fixed. The conflicts found were:
Bitfield Collision: canadminvbjournal = canadminvbgooglemapme

I have both installed but have the same error flagging up in various bits in the Admin Panel. I also cannot install further hacks as I get the same error message.

I deleted the bitfield_vbgooglemap.xml from the includes directory and was able to reload other hacks. Apparently bitfield_vbgooglemap.xml is the source of the problem...not sure why, thanks, rg.

How come its not updating the version number, just upgraded from V 1.0.3 to 1.04 but still has (c)2006 V1.0.3 onmy forums

I've uploaded and overwrote all the files and the new product,not a major hassle it works well but like to keep up with versions lol :cool:
