There should be some sort of conversion taking place. Have you verified you have a MegaVideo definition, yet? Sometimes the full list doesn't import.


Let me see some example posts where YouTube is not converting properly.

For some reason, you were missing this AME option in your message editor's Additional Options: "Automatically embed media (requires automatic parsing of links in text to be on)."

I had to reimport the product XML and suddenly the option appeared, but for some reason, it was unchecked. Try some more testing in your test thread, and make sure that this option is checked when you post. Not sure why it would have been disabled. Also, MegaVideo won't work unless you have extraction turned on, so I had to enable extraction globally.

1) i disabled links for megaupload (it wasnt working) but the script keeps converting the links titles to the title of the website... how can i turn it off ?

2) is it possible to parse links and convert them to videos inside the old posts that were posted before this mod was installed?

Sounds like you may have only disabled Extraction rather than the whole definition. What was it about MegaUpload that wasn't working?


If you were using BBCode for embedding videos before, than yes, you can use the conversion tool. However, if it was just plain links to videos, then no. AME would have no way of going back and converting those, other then you going back and manually resaving each post.


That's a good question. I don't really know, to be honest. I try to update as often as I can, but there's no real schedule I can stick to. I was going to try and release small updates each Friday. But that has yet to become real popular around my house. :erm:

But isn't there a tool in vbulletin to re-parse the posts ? I know phpBB have a function for that.... I checked in the "maintenance" section of my vbulletin adminCP and i noticed there is an option to regenerate post cache, and another one to regenerate post informations... Do you think your mod will parse my old links if i run it ?

I have hundreds and hundreds of old video links in my forum, and i'd really like them to work with your mod...

Any estimate ? A couple of days ? Couple of weeks ? Months ?

i just noticed there is a row "anymedia_yes" for the table "post" of my database.

If i set anymedia_yes=1 for all posts of my forum, and the regenerate the post cache or the post information, will it work to convert the url to links inside the old messages ?

I had a few moments yesterday to look at this. I need to look a little bit more, but something is causing validation to be checked, even though the definition is blank. I need to look at it again a little later.

this is one of the biggest and most used video site, it is sad that this mod doesnt work with dailymotion..

I haven't been able to get back with a lot of you over the last couple of months because of repeated family issues and illnesses. Been a rough year overall for us. Quick question maybe someone knows... I am installing this today, and would like to know on the locally hosted videos edit, do I just put my site name in, or because my forum is located at forum.mysitename do I edit it with that instead?

I have had the AME 2.5 installed for a long time now (on VB 3.8.5) and in order for just the regular YouTube to convert, I must have "extract destination data" turned off. Turned on, YouTube won't convert at all. Now I have installed all the definitions in here, and none of them will convert, with the Extract Destination Data turned on or off. I have tried at several different sites to be sure (ESPN.com, CBSNews.com, Hulu, Gamesopoly) nothing will convert, just the URL gets posted.

I assume it's me... I'm not the most proficient at all this. I did re-install AME 2.5, and did an overwrite of all files and xml, still to no avail. Any other info you need to help me, I would be glad to provide! Thanks.

Is there a specific URL that I am supposed to use? I imaging I do not put in the embed code, however, there are no other links for the live...unless I am missing it.

I too can't get Photobucket videos to work... the video box is just blank, the title loads.

Yeah I just checked against the code- photobucket really changed up it's syntax, plus it's using mp4 files not flv's anymore... a new URL is like:

What happened? When I put a Youtube URL, I will get 2 (two) 'tables' with the same video...
