How can I get this to work on my 3.8.1 forum ?

King Kovifor 04-11-2009 06:28 PM

This application does work on vB 3.8.x

nascartr 04-11-2009 06:58 PM

I have gotten the AJAX version to work on 3.8. I had 3.7.4 originally and this continued to work when I upgraded to 3.8.2.

I have this working in certain browsers on 3.8.2 but it does not work on IE
I had a look at your site in IE and it does the same as mine

therefore it is not the version that is the issue but the browser

- must uninstall unless you can help me find a way around the issues we both have with IE
the ajaxtabs.js file in 1.5 says it now works with IE but I cannot see it

any thoughts
?

What shows up wrong for you? I've tried IE 6,7, and 8 and they all look fine or at least I must be used to something being wrong? What's the problem?

Your site seems to work fine in FF, however when I click on any of your tabs using IE (IE 8 in screenshot) it shows up as in the attachment.

nascartr 04-17-2009 02:30 AM

I try IE8 and the tabs will load fine however if I disable java scripts then they pop up like your screenshot.

Just installed 1.5 Ajax, however in IE8 it shows a gap. Ive attached a screenshot.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Edit - Found an answer on page 59!

powerful_rogue 04-18-2009 09:27 AM

One little question, where should the icon for "Requesting Content" be placed as in IE is showing up as a red X!

Problem solved. Opened ajaxtabs.js and changed

<img src='/clientscript/tabs/loading.gif' /> Requesting content..."

to

<img src='./clientscript/tabs/loading.gif' /> Requesting content..."

Ive got javascript enabled though. I tested my site in one IE tab and yoursite in anothr IE tab. My site loaded fine, however yours came back like the attached screenshot.

nascartr 04-18-2009 10:18 AM

So when you click a tab of mine it opens a new window? This address http://diecastcrazy.com/community/forums.php should show all forums by default. Tabs load fine for me but if I try right clicking and open a tab in a new window then I can duplicate the problem.

nascartr 04-18-2009 10:20 AM

Weird, your screenshot also shows http://diecastcrazy.com/community/ta...ome.php?tabcat[]=138 in the address bar. You have to right click and open in new window for it to show up like that. Tabs open in a frame so the address should always show http://diecastcrazy.com/community/forums.php in the url bar.

powerful_rogue 04-18-2009 10:53 AM

Im browsing http://diecastcrazy.com/community/forums.php in IE. When I click on a tab, say Diecast for instance it goes to load and then the page jumps to http://diecastcrazy.com/community/ta...ome.php?tabcat[]=96

It also throws up the below error message in IE

Webpage error details

Quote:

Message: 'vbphrase' is undefined
Line: 15
Char: 1
Code: 0
URI: http://diecastcrazy.com/community/ta...ome.php?tabcat[]=138

nascartr 04-18-2009 11:01 AM

Again, strange. The only I way can duplicate the problem is to open the tab in a new page. I wonder if anyone else has this problem? So far I've had no complaints but I can see you getting the error but I don't understand why the tab won't just load correctly?

toneloc 04-18-2009 08:22 PM

King Kovifor installed the Tabs on my forum home and I just want to know that if I click "uninstall" in my admincp, will my forum return to the way it was exactly or is there something that I need to alter in the code to get it back to the way it was?

I can't get a hold of King and I need to install this as no one like the ajax feature, including myself.

Please let me know if all I need to do is click "uninstall" or if something else needs to be done.

Thanks!

I can not reply when I am not able to access the computer. Instructions were sent.

Is there any reason why when you right click a tab to open in a new window, it dosent load the style?

Seiyaboy 04-26-2009 04:15 PM

Thank you very much for this modification. The example templates really help clear up some misunderstandings in the instructions since I use custom styles and templates for my forum. I'm glad to finally install this 1.5 version. Right now it works wonderfully. It's all thank to your time and effort you put in for member support. Thank you once again.

Why would you want to do that?

Its not something I want to do, however im asking if theres anyway to either get it to load the style or prevent right click on the tabs incase a member does it.

Also, is there an easy way to get different style tabs?

Reza_Mk 04-29-2009 04:45 PM

You need to read the instructions provided.

Examples:
Code:

tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1&tabcat[]=2&tabcat[]=3
means to show forums with the ids 1, 2, and 3.

Code:

tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1
means to show forums with the ids 1.

Alter that number to match that of your forum ids. You can find the Forum ID from forum manager within your acp, or you can just hover over your forum categories on forumhome. You would see the links similar to this "siteurl/forumdisplay.php?f=6", where 6 is the forum id. Different forums and categories have different IDs, that's the number you need to replace into the code.

I know that, what I meant is even when I put in a different id, it only shows the first tab......

I just used the default numbers as an example on here..

tafreeh 05-02-2009 12:31 AM

V2 is not out yet:(

DanielN24 05-03-2009 05:40 AM

Nevermind got it to work, amazing tabs love them, thanks for everything.

Oyabun 05-07-2009 01:46 PM

I don't want to read 100 pages.
Can anyone tell me how to show active (browsing) users under the forumstitle again? The text disappeared after i installed the mod.

Hi
I cannot seem to get this working. I have attached an image of how it is displayed on my forum. I have surely missed something. Does it make a difference that my forums are forums.php and not index.php?

I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks

EDIT. Got it working. This is exactly what I am looking for, great mod!

LieuR 05-08-2009 10:20 PM

Very nice mod but to advanced for me to make lol

I am getting the same thing as well..? Not sure how to fix it...? I would like to have it the way Bobster has here.. www.bbwforums.net

glowinggal 05-21-2009 04:31 PM

any updates on when version 2 might be ready for 3.8.* users?

TaMpE 05-22-2009 08:41 PM

Can I point the tab to a FORUM instead of a Category?

1. When I went to the forum home I got this:

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/136/forumhome6701667.jpg

The errors are:

The tabs are not matching my site's style
No forums are shown

And then when you click on a tab you get this:
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3607/...iew6712188.jpg

The style is totally stripped.

I searched this thread trying to find a fix and did add the full paths to the .css files in the clientscript folder. Is there anything else I am missing? I uninstalled the modification for now until I can figure out a fix.

Just FYI....once I upgraded my site to 3.6.12 and re-installed the modification it worked perfectly. I just had to apply the IE fix to remove the space, add the code for the Cyb - Sub-Forum issue and edit the css some and I am good to go.

Now....is the 3.0 YUI version better in any way than this version that I MUST switch over?

SBlueman 05-23-2009 12:53 PM

Does anyone know of a way to create a tab with v1.5 that will allow you to view the full forum index?

sdfaheem 05-30-2009 03:45 AM

I have successfully installed the mod with all the template modifications carefully.

But when i click on any tab, its showing all the forums whereas i have assigned each tab with a separate category.

Malceski09 06-01-2009 06:32 AM

I've got it installed, how would i go about changing the look, to somewhat the BBW style look of the tabs, from text

It means the path to your CSS is file is not correct. Make sure the edits you made in the <head> tags point exact location of the CSS and Javascript files. If all else fails just put the full URL.

ahmedipa 06-06-2009 04:43 AM

good example we will see later on to test it

but I got the idea of this topic

thank you very much

sdfaheem 06-20-2009 06:13 PM

The ajax is continuously loading and not showing the tabs with the message "Requesting content".
Previously it was working good, this happened all of a sudden.

anoopsoares 06-20-2009 11:26 PM

Btw installed on 3.8 and so far so good. No real issues.
There is one edit though that should be changed

In step 2b you say paste this
Code:

STEP 2b - EDIT Template: FORUMHOME

FIND <!-- main -->

FIRST - Copy all the code from <!-- main --> to <!-- /main --> (Including 2 main comments) and save it into you editor of choice as this will be used in an upcomming step.

Then Replace <!-- main --> ...code... <!-- /main --> with the code below

<!-- main -->
<!-- Tabbed Forum Home -->

<div id="ajaxTFH" class="TFHmenu2">
        <ul>
                <li class="selected"><a href="tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1" rel="ajaxTFHcontentarea">TAB 1 NAME</a></li>
                <li><a href="tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1&tabcat[]=2" rel="ajaxTFHcontentarea">TAB 2 NAME</a></li>
                <li><a href="tabforumhome.php?tabcat[]=1&tabcat[]=2&tabcat[]=3" rel="ajaxTFHcontentarea">TAB 3 NAME</a></li>
        </ul>
</div>

<br style="clear: left" />

<div class="TFHmenu2line"></div>

<div id="ajaxTFHcontentarea" style="border:0px solid gray; width:100%; height: 100%; background-color: white; padding: 0px"></div>

<script type="text/javascript">
        var mytabs=new ddajaxtabs("ajaxTFH", "ajaxTFHcontentarea")
                mytabs.setpersist(true)
                mytabs.setselectedClassTarget("link")
                mytabs.init()
</script>

<!-- /Tabbed Forum Home  -->
<!-- /main -->

Now in any further releases i would just leave the background)color: white out of the div style. Since no one hardly uses vBulletins default colors :)

just saying
