I want the default zoom and global orientation to be as the image below shows. What are the steps (in detail) to accomplish this?

I'd like to see a small stats area below the map. Like how many on the map, etc

All you need to do is to set the lat/lon to where you would like the central location to be within the admincp options for the modification. The same applies for the zoom level you would like.

Thats actually not a bad idea and will bare this in mind for the next version. It will almost certainly make it onto there :)

Could this mod be used to just automatically pull where the logged in user last visited the website from and maybe show un-logged users as visitors?

It could using ip geocoding, however I coded this for exactly the opposite so not likely to be something I will be adding. Doing so would mean not everyone can run it, and the purpose of this is that everyone can.
