@ Jedi, where do you find the YouTube permalink on the Google Video page?

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...70482484764613

Thanks!

sorry, I may not be explaining this right.

I have a test forum that I use specifically testing plugins. In this test forum, I created a new thread with a single post. In this post, I have two URLs. One of these urls are using the old "media" tag. The other url is using the new "ame" tag.

I ran the convert tool, to convert the media tag in this post to a URL tag. Then, I ran the Rebuild to try and convert the URL tag to an ame tag. Unfortunately, that did not work.

So, in this post, there is still two sets of URLs enclosed in BBCode tags, but one url is surrounded by the URL tag (converted from the "media" tag), and the other url surrounded by the ame tag (which didn't and shouldn't have changed). I cannot seem to get the URL tag to be converted to the ame tag.

Well, that's not a YouTube video, so it doesn't have one. Like I said, for the actual Google hosted video you can use the Google link just fine. Mainly that's the only purpose for the Google definition at this point.

should I just uninstall 2.5 RC 1 and install 2.0.2? Do you think this will fix my problem?

Sorry to be impatient, but my forums are now sitting with 500+ non-hyperlinked video URL's with a media tag around them instead of the video being displayed (because I uninstalled GoldBrick).

So let me ask you...is there a way to find where that video is actually hosted?

Why was this video working fine until I upgraded?

I don't think it will make any difference. Do you think I could see this demo forum where the posts are?

Very easily. If it says Google Video on the player, such as in the link you posted, it's a Google Video. But if you open it up and your looking at a framed YouTube page or it suddenly redirects you to Forbes.com, etc, then you know your not on Google Video anymore.

Upgrading wouldn't have made a bit of difference. The definitions work exactly the same as before. You've just stumbled across some videos that you hadn't tried posting before. AME has never been able to distinguish between multiple types of embed code. It can only convert to one embed code per site.

dieselpowered 10-01-2008 07:36 PM

So if it is a google video, why is it not showing? Did you not say that google videos would embed fine?

Digital Jedi 10-01-2008 07:45 PM

Yes, did the one you posted not embed for you? I tested it on my forum and it embedded okay.

@sweeps78: Which video had the media tags, the first or the second? I see the second one as embedded, but not the first.

sweeps78 10-01-2008 07:54 PM

The first video had the media tag, but when I ran the Conversion tool, it changed the media tag to a url. The second video was using the ame tag from the beginning.

thanks:)

Sweeps, Im confused by what your problem is...

If you had a post that had AME AND another media bbcode and then ran the conversion tool so that particular post only had a URL and an AME tag, then when you rebuild, set the Ignore Previous to yes so that it won't skip that post.

Regardless, 2.02 wont solve the problem as the conversion and rebuilding features are pretty much the same.
