I have noticed the use of & as well. I have also had a look around to see if that usage was correct and found nothing to support it either way. OK, maybe I could have looked harder.

Are you saying that & is not correct for yahoo txt, but ok in the xml?

Sure, this fix will also be included in the nearest Sitemap Generator release :)

While google xml sitemap protocol requires to urlencode the parameters, the text sitemap has no this requirement.

This error will disappear after you'll submit the correct sitemap URLs to Google (yourforumsroot/sitemap_X.xml.gz) :)

Don

Don, make sure your minutes are explicitly set to "0" (or some other number).... I didn't realize that the minutes defaulted to "*" instead of "0" so when I created my task and set the hour to "3" I didn't change the minutes. Whoops. :o

Very dumb question I am sure but:

Is the sitemap supposed to look like this?

<sitemapindex xmlns="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84 http://http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84/siteindex.xsd">

(the two URLs put together?)

funinthesun 12-04-2005 12:44 PM

When I run the sitemap generator I get this error:

Code:

A file permissions error has occurred running this script.
Please check that the script and the directory that it's in are only writable by the site administrator.
If this error persists, please contact the server administrator.

What am I doing wrong? :confused:

funinthesun 12-04-2005 12:47 PM

OK, I figured it out. I had the vbseo_sitemap folder chmod set to 777 instead of only the data folder being set to 777 so I set the chmod on vbseo_sitemap folder to 755 and left the data folder chmod to 777 and now it works ;)
