Is it safe to upgrade to 3.6 right now?

Urban51 08-21-2006 12:45 PM

Before I upgraded to 3.5.4, Admin could see private entries, has this been removed?

Andy, feel free to move forward with this hack - as long as I get permission to eventually re-use the code for future versions.

Sinistra 08-23-2006 02:44 AM

Oblivion, you porting this for 3.6.0?

Great, I also got permission from AN-net as I couldn't reach you.. ;)

I have no problem with your terms.

Yes, it will also fix many bugs with the current version and be compatible with PHP5 and MySQL 4.1. Although the current zip with a slightly edited journal.php file posted somewhere in this thread, should work well enough on vBulletin 3.6.0 as it is.. :)

y2krazy 08-23-2006 12:15 PM

So when can we expect to see it available? You don't know how much we appreciate it... ^^

Oblivion Knight 08-23-2006 01:47 PM

Hopefully by the weekend, although I can't guarantee it.

MissKalunji 08-23-2006 01:48 PM

and whats new about it?

y2krazy 08-23-2006 02:40 PM

I would assume this contains at least a majority of the changes:

Can't wait for the release!

Spinball 08-24-2006 06:47 AM

I have a couple of real important features I'd like to request :

1) image attachments. We have people keeping journals of their home theater builds but they can't attach images, so they have to do it in normal threads. This is *such* an important feature.

2) Conversion of a normal thread into a blog entry (and back?). This will enable us to 'import' existing journal type threads into the vBJournal system.
And being able to convert journals back to normal threads would, of course, make it easier to uninstall at any point.

Thanks for your consideration.

robinl143 08-24-2006 07:51 PM

SQL query:

UPDATE product SET version = '1.0.2 Alpha 1' WHERE productid = 'journalhack'

MySQL said:

#1146 - Table 'thewomen_vb.product' doesn't exist

I keep getting the query error and I'm not sure why? I installed the lurnal on a clean install of 3.6 and all looks OK, but it says I do not have perpission to enter, I must have missed something?

Any help would be appreciated?

Robin

robinl143 08-24-2006 08:42 PM

So their is going to be a newer version?

Thanks for getting in touch with this hack, Andy. I can't wait for the new release. And I'd be happy to donate a few bucks for you great work! :)

Strange. I have two boards running 3.6 now. One of them...I used the updated journal.php and everything works fine. The other...everything shows up fine but no one can enter any new entries. o_O

Snake 08-25-2006 06:04 PM

Make sure you are uploading them via ASCII mode. Try again.

Sinistra 08-26-2006 05:13 PM

I have added the edited journal.php to my vbulletin for 3.6 but it sys I have to approve journal entries how do I fix this?

I own my server...I just copied it from one forum (the one it works on) to the other.

You can go here:

http://www.mysticwicks.com/journal.php

And see my entry "blah" (I am mol there), but if you click on it...nothing. It shows on the main page, but nowhere else. Journals are just not displaying.

Aha! That's the problem. It's automatically setting them to be moderated first...even with the moderated setting OFF. How can we fix this?

Fixed it. Go into your journal settings and even if you already have this set to yes:

"Auto-Approve Journal Entries"

Go ahead and click save. Fixed.

ohgenki 08-27-2006 05:15 AM

err....i do hope that the updated version can work with vb3.5.4 as well...and i'll be patient oblivion!!! :P

thenetbox 08-27-2006 09:31 PM

Same here :) Patiently waiting :D

Luke Beale 08-30-2006 12:25 PM

I'm getting close but the footer is still messed up :(
EDIT: Wee! Aurons Ghost fixed it for me. It is now a faithful copy of Blogger.com's Sand Dollar layout. Get the templates below :D

http://eternalspira.ffproject.net/jo...howjournal&j=1

Due to the ammount of interest, here are the templates. Enjoy!

After downloading do this:

Code:

1) Add 1 template: Bloggersidebar, with whatever you want under the avatar on the sidebar. My Bloggersidebar.tpl has the example I used.
2) Modify 2 templates: journal_entrybits and journal_journalpage, just paste the contents of my tpl files to replace the entire template, for each of the two.
3) Add some custom CSS
You know how to add custom CSS ? It's on style manager, right by the "Go" button, use the drop down menu instead of just using "edit template", select "Main CSS" and on the main CSS screen scroll down to the very last box. Paste the contents of my "customcss.css" file there.

maidos 09-02-2006 07:56 AM

does anyone know if this mods works for 3.6.0?

bigtomisin 09-02-2006 11:29 PM

i cant see the journal permissions in user group settings in vbulliten 3.6

ohgenki 09-03-2006 05:32 PM

still waiting for oblivion to release the latest version..:(

maidos 09-04-2006 10:00 PM

yeah im waiting too for the latest version for 3.6.0 >_<

Renmiri 09-05-2006 05:51 PM

Err.. found a tiny bug in this version.

Did anyone here try to delete a mood already ? I did and it gave me an SQL Error.

Easy enough to fix though:

On journaladmin.php
Find
Code:

// ###################### Start killmood #######################
if ($_REQUEST['do'] == 'killmood')
{
        $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('r', 'mid', TYPE_INT);
        $db->query("DELETE FROM journal_moods WHERE mood_id=" . $vbulletin->GPC['mid']);

Replace by
Code:

// ###################### Start killmood #######################
if ($_REQUEST['do'] == 'killmood')
{
        $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('r', 'mid', TYPE_INT);
        $db->query("DELETE FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."journal_moods WHERE mood_id=" . $vbulletin->GPC['mid']);

The only change was to add a TABLE_PREFIX to the SQL statement

I also made a plugin to add most of the the journal CP to the Moderator Menu, since I don't want to be hassled with adding moods! :P

Oblivion Knight 09-06-2006 07:59 AM

I'm hoping to have some time during the next few days to finish working on this and get something released. It should be worth noting however, that support will be extremely limited for the time being, upgrade instructions may be somewhat sketchy in places and I cannot confirm that it will work with the vBulletin 3.5.x series..

Thank you for your patience.

Neo_obs 09-06-2006 03:48 PM

any idea if it will ever be working for 3.5? I can help you out if you need a test server or tester
