Agreed!

I hope bananalive will port this mod to vBulletin 4.0 its the best in his sort.

Old-Git 12-20-2009 01:18 PM

I emailed the chap a few days ago to ask if he would port it to VB4, he has not replied yet. His profile says he was a Student so I'm guessing that he's now graduated and the real world has grabbed his time...happens to us all.

Over on VBulletion.com in the VB4 suggestion sub-forum I've posted a suggestion that the company take this one and port it to VB4, if you want to see it developed further and properly supported then please pop over to Vbulletin.com and support the suggestion here's my original thread...

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...-Forms-for-VB4

And here's the thread asking for new VB4 Products/addons that I also contributed to...

Lets hope it continues in vB4 as this was one of the mods we used daily on our site, super handy!

Forum Lover 12-23-2009 11:45 AM

Where is he? Where is bananalive?

Bram H 12-23-2009 01:17 PM

His website is offline also :( I fear the worst for the continuation of his mods.

What is the procedure when a modders becomes inactive? Can somebody else continue the work?

Are there alternatives for this mod available for vb4?

Veer 12-23-2009 03:40 PM

If some one could port it to vb4 it would be awesome.

saviola8x 12-23-2009 05:28 PM

please update for vb4.
thanks

macms 12-24-2009 10:08 AM

I use this as part of the registration process and will not upgrade to vb4 until this is ported. I would consider contributing to someone's efforts to accomplish this.

DaPro 12-27-2009 10:56 PM

I agree, this is a huge plugin I need for vB4 before I move my other forums over and upgrade. This is a huge factor in that process for me.

maddoghalo1 12-28-2009 05:40 PM

fix it to vb4 plz

radmoose 12-29-2009 01:17 AM

LOL.. how many of you that DEPEND on this mod on 3.x have bothered to donate to the dev?

I hope that it was most if not all of you.

While I look forward to a 4.0.x release of this, if I had relied heavily on it in 3.x I would at least donate something... even if he isn't going to continue it... which, while there is lot of speculation, we really are not sure if it is or not.

This is a major mod from what I understand and isn't something that just gets done overnight. I am surprised at the number of mods that have been converted so far as all of them have taken some considerable amount of money and resources to do so (such as paying the upgrade fees, etc.)

I hope that bananalive can afford to do as such.

Trek 12-29-2009 04:06 AM

Nice assumptions there...

Anyway...

I've spent about 5 hours tonight converting this mod to vB4 and so far it's going pretty well (with a lot more to go, minus debugging). It's a lot of work, but thankfully the author is pretty kick ass and everything is nice and clean.

Assuming I am completely successful and get it working on my own forums, I'll attempt to contact the author at that time to see if it's ok to release. No one expect anything or hold your breath though. ;)

I won't be accepting donations as this isn't my code. I'm still working on the conversion though, we'll see.

maddoghalo1 12-30-2009 01:58 AM

Trek I sent you a PM.

Also if bananna does get it converted I will find some cash to donate.

adamdavidconn 12-30-2009 02:06 PM

I was using this mod on my 3.8x forum for a while, and it was very neat and useful mod.

However, there was one feature missing which to me was valuable. This feature is to move users who complete "x" form to "y" usergroup. And if this is done on a form by form basis, what this can achieve is forms progressing users from one usergroup to another, which is what I needed.

I am not on vbulletin 4.0, and I am liking it mostly, however, I am interested still on this mod. Good luck and thank you for working on converting this mod, Trek. If you ever have the time / permission in the future ahead, could you think about this idea. I wold happily donate to see this happen.

Trek 12-31-2009 02:42 AM

Just a quick note, I have this working for VB4 now. So far it's been about 20 hours just to convert it. Granted some of those hours are just from my learning what I'm doing and how to convert to VB4 and all of that, but it's been... interesting. =)

There are a LOT of style issues as most of the styling didn't carry over. Knowing next to nothing about styling, this could take me a bit to fix. There are a few bugs here and there that I am still cleaning up (I'm sure there's more I don't know about) but I can create new forms, submit them and view them.

I've PM'd Bananalive here on the forums asking his permission to release this, but have yet to hear from him. We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know it's working and hopefully we'll have something useful soon.

Veer 12-31-2009 04:41 AM

Great Job Trek, very well done, hope he will allow you to port it to vb4 soon.

Good luck.

maddoghalo1 12-31-2009 07:18 PM

Cant wait till you finish, I can help beta test it if you want? Just PM me on here.

Veer 12-31-2009 08:23 PM

I can test as well on my test vb4 board :)

MikeWarner 01-01-2010 09:47 AM

I love this hack and also need it to be vB4 compatible before I even consider upgrading, so I too would much appreciate an upgrade and would be willing to donate. Thanks :)

powerful_rogue 01-01-2010 08:30 PM

Hi,

Love the mod! Just curious as to how I can provide an option for a member to add an attachment?

Ive looked through the form settings and can't seem to locate it.

adamdavidconn 01-01-2010 08:53 PM

@Powerful_rogue, that is a request atm, and isnt in the product

powerful_rogue 01-02-2010 03:04 AM

Thanks.

Wasn't too sure as attachments was listed under both features and coming soon!

MikeWarner 01-02-2010 10:11 AM

Another request - when using the form to post a thread, can it following the users subscription settings please? Currently, users are not subscribed to threads posted using the form. Thanks.

powerful_rogue 01-02-2010 01:53 PM

Just been reading through the thread and quite a few people mention attachments. Was this a feature that was removed or are they talking about something else within the mod.

Slightly confused as attachments are mentioned in the feature list and also in the upcoming features list.

The coder of this mod is no where in sight atm, one person is trying to port it to 4.0 but that can take time, and i think he will not implement new stuff at this point.

Martyh 01-03-2010 04:47 AM

This is a very nice mod. I am looking forward to it being ported to vb4, what happened to BL ?

Trek 01-03-2010 09:38 AM

I've got the basic port to vB4 complete. Styling is a big issue, but I've been at least hitting the bigger issues to make things generally look better. But styling isn't something that I've ever done in vB so the conversion isn't all that easy for me.

I'm sure there are bugs still, but in general, things seem to be working pretty well.

I still haven't heard from BL though. I want to do a little more testing and will need to make sure things export and import again and then I might have a couple of people test it. After that, we'll see if those people consider it worth releasing or not and go from there.

As for fixes, changes, etc... I'm not planning on supporting the port to vB4. I'll do what I can to help out, but realistically, if it's released, it's still not my mod and I really don't have the desire/understanding of the mod to support it either. I'm doing it for myself and hopefully others that need the basic functionality for vB4. I hope that doesn't sound rude, I don't mean it to be. But the fact is, I'm not looking to "own" the mod in any way. =)

All that being said, I'll offer what help I can, when I can. But don't expect anything. =)

adamdavidconn 01-03-2010 11:08 AM

greats news Trek. I would gladly like to help you test it (Pm me if interested).

maddoghalo1 01-04-2010 03:57 AM

Trek, I can help ya test it when you look for people to test it.

Verionia 01-04-2010 05:03 AM

Cant wait for vb4 completion!

JamesGunner 01-05-2010 01:42 PM

I would like to get a copy of the vb4 port as well. I would have helped you port it but I was busy during new year and after. If you are ready to give it to some testers I would be glad test it, help and sort out bugs if necessary.

TNCclubman 01-05-2010 02:12 PM

Im not even looking at upgrading to vB4 until this is done (among 2 other custom mods and a style template as well)

Keep up the great work!

we_are_borg 01-05-2010 02:17 PM

Trek if you need another tester just yell at me i'm running vb4.0 as a test at the moment in its own test environment .

Trek 01-06-2010 12:17 AM

I gave the mod to two people to try out, so far I've heard back from one of them and things are working, the primary issues are as I said styling.

So, still working on the styling as time permits.

I'll probably PM a couple of you that mentioned testing over the next few days as well.

ragtek 01-06-2010 06:48 AM

I could also help you testing it:)
Could also check the code if you want.
4 eyes often see more than 2;)

Sarcoth 01-06-2010 01:46 PM

Trek, if you need some more eyes on it, I wouldn't mind looking over it. I made a lot of customized forms with the old code so I know my way around it.
