I went ahead and nofollowed all vbay internal links (auctions, categories, etc) and disallowed all of the /vbay.php?do= pages in robots.txt. So my vbay homepage is the only page that should get crawled and indexed by google. I find this better than having a bunch of duplicate titles and meta's. Also saves on bandwidth :) So I'll leave it liek this until(if) someone can help out with the seo of vbay.

I have another question:

We all know that new auction users have to enter their address info one time when they click "sell", "buy it now", etc. It would be really nice if they would be redirected back to the page they clicked on before they had to enter their shipping info. Anyone know how to do this?

Example:
1. A forum member visits our forums vbay page for the first time.
2. He wants to post an auction right away, so he clicks on "sell".
3. The address page comes up where he has to enter his address.
4. After he submits his address info, he is redirected back to the vbay homepage. (I want it to redirect to the sell page)

This goes for every page.

I actually want every auction page to be crawled and I also want every auction page to have a se friendly URL.

Does anyone know of a vBay install on a site running VBSEO they can point me to?

Me too, but it's pointless for me without unique meta, titles and even h1 tags.

For example, I have the last element in my breadcrumb link tree wrapped in h1 tags.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/04/13.png

But all of the last elements in vbay are "browsing categories" or "viewing item".

Do you think you will be doing this? If you say "Yes / Probably", I will hold off until you do (or then declare you wont). If you say "No / Unlikely", I will go with the current VB and buy VBSEO (uugh).

Also, did I read you had an advanced (pay for) version of vbay?

i will actually be most likely only releasing a new version for VB4, as it would be kind of pointless to upgrade the mod, then upgrade it again with the release of vb4.

zombietom 04-21-2009 03:38 PM

come on ..please do a update...i;m using it on 3.7.1 and would like to see an update...

yeah steve, i guess i thought i fixed this in the newest version.
its a simple fix, just add an addslashes to the wysiwyg variable before it gets entered into the db, and another stripslashes when its pulled out.

steve, search for the variable $message in the vbay.php file

Would someone be nice enough to fix this and post up the updated vbay.php file so i can just upload it and overwrite my current file...i'm setting up a breast cancer fundraising drive and want to use vbay to help raise money...
Thanks

Has anyone figured out how to do the bid increments lower?

I would be willing to pay someone to tell me.:)

zombietom 05-10-2009 06:24 PM

I would also chip in some Money for the lower bid increments and a relist feature.

patsfans 05-11-2009 08:04 PM

Is it possible to make users pay per listing? I've gone through all these threads but didn't see that anywhere. It seems like all you could do is to set up a "subscription" where people could upgrade to a seller's account, but there's no way under this software to limit the number of auction listings people could add.

zombietom 05-12-2009 02:21 PM

To Patsfans
Only way to really do that at this point is to charge a 1 time fee to become a seller. You would need to set up a usergroup just for sellers and then charge a fee to become one.

This is a great Mod and it is a shame that it is not being supported or updated very much.

dealcafe 05-15-2009 11:55 AM

Working on the Bid increments thing, it doesnt give me the error now since I did the database thing mention in this thread but it doesnt total them up correctly, anyone have ideas on that?

Blaine0002 05-18-2009 05:34 PM

Ill be releasing a version for the current version of VB, but only releasing updates and new things to the vb4 version once it comes out.

What problems are you having with bid increments?

zombietom 05-19-2009 12:31 AM

I think he is wanting bids icnrements that are less than $1.00 ...like .50 cents and .25 cents.
I would like maybe a relist option. Also the problem with th " it will not let you use colored fonts and stuff.
thanks for your work on this..i'm currently using it to raise money for breast cancer.

Blaine0002 05-19-2009 05:07 PM

Im glad you are using it for a good cause!

Im not exactly sure what you mean by relist option.. like, if the auction has ended and the item hasent sold you can easily put it back up for sale? (my guess)

and sorry for not being active in supporting it, ive been busy with school, but now its summer! and i have time to work on it! :)

zombietom 05-19-2009 05:11 PM

yes, that is what i'm talking about ..a easy way to re list unsold items..
thanks and i understand being busy but this is such a great mod and i'm glad you are finding time to work on it.
I hope others will donate to you for your time.
thanks

towermatt 05-21-2009 08:22 PM

Wonderful news!

I'm glad others are using it to raise money. We did almost $6200.00 this year for The Haven Foundation which supports Freelance Artists who have found themselves in difficult situations.

Eruantien 05-22-2009 12:53 AM

Any 3.8.x users have any luck with this. I would LOVE to use this mod.

This mod is exactly what we need but the only thing that is preventing us from using it is that the bid increments have to be a minimum of $1. Its auctions for coupons etc. so I would love to be able to have increments of .50 being able to have them in .25 would make it awesome! Is this something that can be done?

Saviour 05-29-2009 12:16 PM

I have two issues with this mod on a VB 3.8.2 board:

1. Ability to let users include cents ($.00) in shipping and/or item price.

[S]2. Ability to change the content of the PM being sent to a winning bidder. I'd rather not have a seller's address included in the PM, if it is not necessary.[/S]

I absolutely love this mod, Blaine...and I'm looking forward to an updated version, as well, for the latest stable release of vBulletin.

Thanks, bunches!

Update...

#2 above was fixed by editing the vb_pm_you_bid phrase.

Still looking for an answer to #1, though...

Saviour 05-29-2009 02:15 PM

Oh...and one more thing...

Can someone recommend a seller rating mod that isn't in the modification graveyard?

Much appreciated...

zombietom 05-29-2009 10:34 PM

Itrader is available ..i think..if not i have it

Blaine0002 05-30-2009 02:25 AM

It seems the person who took over itrader doesn't seem too understand what it means to release a free mod for vbulletin, and is now selling licenses for it. (doh) Since I want to make vbay and all its ties completely free (besides vbulletin ;) ) and depending on if I can convince him to keep ITrader free, I might need to leave it out of VBay. Sorry guys!

Saviour 05-30-2009 10:58 AM

Actually...you have to purchase a membership in order to get user permissions to download iTrader from the developer's site. I needed it...so I paid the membership fee.

Thanks, for the offer, though, zombietom.

No worries, Blaine0002...

Blaine0002 05-30-2009 03:53 PM

i think its still unnecesary that you should need to pay to access free software. I will still include itrader in vbay, but i dont know how much it will be used.

Digital Jedi 05-31-2009 12:24 PM

If you can still integrate it for those of us who still have iTrader installed, it would be great.

SledgeHead 06-01-2009 12:49 AM

As soon as I post a new auction is says the auction is Complete immediately. What gives? How do I fix this?

I'm using 3.8.2. That shouldn't effect it should it?

Bounce 06-04-2009 03:50 PM

Do'nt know if someone has posted this as cant be assed shifting throu 1400 posts lol but does this have the ability of charging the user a fee before listing his/her item, thanks

Blaine0002 06-04-2009 06:15 PM

make a sellers usergroup, then use the vbulletin payment gateway to give users access to that usergroup

SledgeHead 06-04-2009 07:27 PM

I've only been waiting half a week for an answer and then it's passed over. Nice.

As soon as I post a new auction it says the auction is Complete immediately. It never actually opens for bidders despite setting it for 14 days. I'm using 3.8.2. That shouldn't effect it should it?

DobieGillis? 06-04-2009 08:00 PM

we just installed this on 3.8.2. Works like a charm!

SledgeHead 06-04-2009 08:22 PM

You didn't have problems with the auction ending immediately?

Here's an example. I posted this auction 30 seconds ago and set the auction to run for a week. http://www.vinylnation.net/forums/vb...tem&viewitem=4

no, mate! Still going. I feel your pain.

SledgeHead 06-04-2009 08:46 PM

I think I got it working!

How do you get the categories to be in alphabetical order though?

don't see that as an option. Maybe others here can help.

SledgeHead 06-04-2009 10:33 PM

Yeah. I'll definitely need it. Every few months I'll be having to update the categories, so it would be nice if "Park Series #1", "Park Series #2" and "Park Series #3" were all together instead of being apart. The only way I can see keeping them together is to delete all the others and redo them in alphabetical order myself. Pain in the butt. lol

brandonroy 06-05-2009 01:28 AM

Guys! I need a little help here. I want to completely turn it into a classifieds script. Basically, all I would have to do is remove the "Auction Type" option and make it so that all new ads are set to "Buy It Now" by default. And I don't need the "Buy It Now" option to show!

mikem164 06-05-2009 02:00 AM

Guys having one problem. The drop down box for "category" is blank and it won't let u post without a category. I've been at this for a while and can't come up with a solution...thanks.
