Please make sure that you have no '*' for hours/minutes in the vB scheduler for the Sitemap Generator task.

If you disabled the product in the admincp, but left the vB scheduler task in place, it will continue to work.

Okay...maybe I found the problem. As usual, it is probably the result of not completely reading the instructions. I had it set to run once per night but had the minutes still set to *. So...I suppose it was trying to run every minute of that hour. I'll find out tonight and maybe this will help somebody else who is having the same problem.

that's right, having '*' means to run EVERY minute. It should be set to 0 (or whatever specific value :) ).

i have a question about it. I installed it and its looking great.

I wanted to ask some questions about it:

I created sitemap and submit it to google

First question here : For adding sitemaps to google, it requires valid google account. But the script is only pinging google. So will it also work? or must i also add my sitemap manually by using my google account.

Second question: At my forum guests can see thread titles but when they want to read its posts, it asks for login info. So must i enable showthread and showposts functions or must i disable them?

Third Question: I submitted it to google and it said downloaded 1 hour ago but at script there is a show sitemap download log and when i click it there is nothing displayed.But google says i downloaded it 1 hour ago. Why it isnt displaying?

Fourth Question: I opened sitemap_index.xml.gz file and its written in it like :

but there is no sitemap under forum. the sitemaps are in forum/vbseo_sitemap/data folder.

fifth and last question : Google give an error llike :

When i click the link for more info there is written like :

its long but you can find it at that link shortly its meaning:

Sitemaps cant contain files at different locations from sitemap file.

So why is google giving url not under sitemap path error?

my forum is under example.com/forum

and sitemap folder is example.com/forum/vbseo_sitemaps/data

forgot to say : i gave my vote to that hack at poll ;)

The google webmaster account submission is optional (although still a good idea to track sitemap status)

You should definitely consider to allow showthread content reading for the guests (and so for SE bots), otherwise there is not so much to index at your site for search engines.

I suppose you've submitted the sitemap files as forumsroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_X.xml.gz, while the correct URL is forumsroot/sitemap_X.xml.gz.

yes i submit it like forumsroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_X.xml.gz

bcs the script is creating sitemap files in data folder not in forumsroot

Oleg.. I think mine has been working but I've always been curious about 'show post.' Mine does not seem to be logged. Should I activate it? If so, how do I do so? Thanks!

would having both posts and thread in the sitemaps cause issues with having duplicate content?
