The view counter goes up everytime someone views the page - I thought there was a way to fix this but I can't find it in this thread anymore.

Installed works correctly from the main forums index.

K fixed my problem of it now showing up from a CMPS and vbGallery page. Just edit the navbar template with /forums/journal.php and it worked.

*clicks install*

Fixes:
  • Cleaned up templates, PHP5 compatible.
  • Changed journal_startpage template to fix a javascript bug (caused by vBlog addition).
  • Fixed journal buddies separator in "What's Going On?" box (vBlog addition again, whoops!).
  • Uses buddylist instead of secondary journal buddylist, changes in vBulletin 3.6.0 meant that it was easier to do this than trying to work out how to update the journal buddylist feature).
  • Post New Comment editor compatible with PV's "smilies on QR and QE" modification.
  • Memberlist "[view_xs_journal]" link bug fixed.
There may be others that I've forgotten too.. :speechless:

No, it doesn't contain a fix for reporting journal entries as I've never looked into it. It's something that AN-net had in his original version of vBJournal I believe, and Andreas ported it over though it's always been commented out.. I may take a look at it and see how easy it would be to integrate fully, and have it working.

What bugs are people experiencing with permissions? At first glance, I haven't found any and none of my users have reported anything out of the ordinary.. Again, I'll take a look at it if you can guide me as to what specific problems there are.

well there are permissions which are commented out wondering if you got those working.

Also about the reporting I just uncommented it and it sends emails to all my staff so it works for me on 3.5.0( I think I may have had to change a line of code here or there) wasn't hard to figure out something as easy as the [visit x's journal] problem

Obvlivion, do you have those fixes in a downloadable file, or can you not distribute them? I'm wanting to put this on 3.6.0 gold and read mixed results in the last few pages. Thanks. :)

I haven't packaged it up yet, there's still a couple of templates that could do with touching up a bit and a few navbar things that I want to either fix or change..

Hey oblivion, can you fix the way the journal calls on $post[username]? When you change a user's name manually, or if you allow the "change username" hack, the username in journal doesn't update, though it works throughout the site. I think when I used to use vbjournal, it called on $journal[userinfo] or something, which is the probable reason for not updating.

That's something I definitely want. The ability to use the regular buddy list would be so amazing.

Is there a possibility of allowing the upload of Attachments in the Journal Entries? It's the only thing lacking, IMO. It would be a great enhancement, I think

Not for the next release that I'm working on, I've looked at it and it looks like a lot of work..

I have tried to contact Andreas several times with bug info but nothing. It looks as thou his bug reporting site hasnt been touched since early this year also.

I searched the template "journal" and the only area with the word private is below

Oy, any progress on this port? I upgraded to 3.6, and now my members are down my back for the loss of journals. Oy, oy, oy. :(

And, how will this affect the current journal database? Members won't lose everything, right?

What table holds the journal ratings?
I want to manually edit it since there is no admin way to do it. But there is no obvious journal rating table.

It is unlikely..

There are problems running this version of vBJournal on PHP5 as-is, and I believe that the installer requires at least MySQL 4.0.4 to function correctly.

something weird on our version of the journal is that after you rate someones journal it wont show the drop down box anymore and it doesnt seem to get the right journal rating score either

try admin cp>vB Journal>vB Journal Settings

then go through each usergroup in the Usergroup Manager
and edit the journal permissions

Not sure why but this is not appearing in the postbit and yes, I did edit postbit_legacy (which I am using)
