Spider, I would like to know how you got the input text bar to be at the bottom of the shoutbox?

Go to ACP then DBTecH -vBShout > Instance Manager then on the far right click on Edit, now scroll down to the Forum Milestones section and above that you will see
(Pro) Shoutbox Input Area Default Location there you select [Below Shouts] and Save....Done

Here's a screenshot: http://screensnapr.com/v/bVBw1W.png

I hope this has helped you?

k-diddly 08-03-2011 02:59 PM

it must be a 'pro' option only. this is what i see above the Forum Milestones section:

SᴩiDᴇЯ 08-03-2011 03:45 PM

Is your shoutbox light version? if so you can't get that options, unless you upgrade to the Pro Version.

did you know, about a error by using vbseo and your shoutbox? I receive a endless redirection by using blog posting links.

That is most likely caused by the issue Internet Brands posted about in their 4.1.5 topic.

Sorry, the product encountered an error during installation. More information is provided below to help address the issue.

bitfield_dbtech_vbshout.xml not found in directory /home/content/27/8182527/html/forums/includes/xml/

Please drag and drop all files into your forums folder, do not attempt to manually place files in their "correct" folders.

Sorry, english isn't my first language.
I have vBSEO 3.6, after update to vB 4.1.5 PL1 links to blog new post are not good translated.
Example:
/blog.php?blogtextid=102#comment102

When I follow this link, link is rewrited to

/entry.php?b=28&blogtextid=102 (the #comment102 are removed).

Page not loading (its stuck, like in loop).
When I remove "&blogtextid=102" and add "#comment102" everything is ok, page loads and jumps to comment.

vBNinja 08-04-2011 03:36 PM

what is the latest version change log?

vBShout is not responsible for generating the blog links, please add vbshout.php to your vBSEO exclusion list.

If you mark the mod as installed, changelogs will be emailed to you. I also post changelogs in the thread - go back enough pages and you'll see it :)

That is not enough information for me to offer you advice. I will need to see an error message.

How can I edit the shouts of user? and maybe my shouts?

RTMdotORG 08-10-2011 05:31 PM

How would I get this to work beside the block/side panel? I disabled automatic template edit and added:
PHP Code:

{vb:raw vbshout

But it still doesnt show up.
Any ideas?

Set the usergroup permissions in the Instance Manager :)

To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:

Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Write down the the Varname setting. For the default shoutbox, it's instance1. The rest of this guide will assume you replace instance1 with the actual Varname if it is different.

Step 4: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} (vB4) or {$show[vbshout_instance1]} (vB3) to the templates you wish the shoutbox to appear in.

Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.
Please note that some locations may not work as intended on vBulletin 3.8, and also note that it is not designed to go in the Forum Blocks side-bar (vBulletin 4).

Hope that helps :)

It should be:

PHP Code:

{vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1

Where instance1 is the varname assigned to the shout box in AdminCp vBShout's Instance Management

That's a server issue, we don't control the ability to overwrite files :(

Not a server error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ')' in /home/content/40/6435240/html/dbtech/vbshout/includes/class_core.php on line 2534

DragonByte Tech 08-13-2011 02:01 PM

Please allow the file to complete upload before reporting errors. That is a common message to receive when uploading large PHP files if you try to access it while it is uploading.

That's what I am trying to explain:

That file and ONLY that file will not overwrite. Even deleting the class_core.php file from the includes folder and re-uploading it produces the error posted above.

I've have your mod since the initial release and have never before had an issue with any file installation or upgrade of this modification.

The CHMOD permissions are set to 777

It can't be a conflict with another modification since the file is only part of this modification.

If you're convinced the error is on my end I'll simply have to leave the modification uninstalled. Shameful. One of the best functions of our forums and well worth the investment in the Pro Version. Now I have reservations as to whether or not that version would cause the same issues.

note* i just spent 45 minutes talking to the hosting tech about this issue. there has been no change in server performance in the last 60 days. this is regarding the issue described above.

Natai 08-13-2011 09:14 PM

Nice mod.
I'm going to add my name to those that would like to see a CMS widget for the Shoutbox.
It's just not worth the money to go Pro without allowing visitors to my front page to see and access the Shoutbox as well.

Other modifications or indeed your entire vBulletin installation is irrelevant to the ability to upload a file. Your FTP program or FTP server may be set up to disallow uploading files over a certain size.

Truth is, I have no idea. Nobody has produced any Google-able FTP program error messages and I have never encountered this issue before on any of the hundreds of sites I have uploaded files (and indeed these files) to =/

You can add the shoutbox to the CMS by switching to manual deployment and follow the on-screen instructions to add the variable to the FORUMHOME and one of the CMS templates :)

DragonByte Tech 08-14-2011 06:41 PM

I believe I've discovered the reason why the file wouldn't upload.

One of our members at our forum also encountered this issue, and it would appear that security software on the server was preventing the file upload from completing. It blocked the file because it had a specific PHP function in it (base64_decode). That function was part of a commented-out (inert, not running) block of code, which I have now removed.

Try re-downloading the zip and re-uploading the file, it should work now :)
