3) THe only cache that is current does is it stores the total times a post is thanked. and the stats.

4) This hack is based on posts and not threads.

Thanks for the reply :) Any plans for adding caching later? As for the posts vs threads thing, I plan on implementing it only on a first-post per thread basis. Hence the question to see if it's possible to have the total count show up in thread listings. for easy sorting purposes. I guess I could manually build a query to supply third parties with this info, but it would be awesome if this would be available "out of the box".

Thanks again :)

installed today on 3.8 rc 2.

any news/workaround about the 4,294,967,294 thanks issue?

M3xital 01-10-2009 07:20 PM

Hi,
I'm new to vBulletin, I've just installed this hack and i can't make it work in the right way.
If i hit the thanks button i get this message
Code:

xxxxx, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1-Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access
administrative features or some other privileged system?
2-If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Then when i come back to the thread i can see that i thanked that post.
I get the same error message if i try to remove thanks.
Can someone help me?
Thanks

Are you sure? It should update everytime a thanks is given.

I think the problem is the browser, i use Firefox normally, but to test this hack i was using IE. Maybe cookies? With Firefox works just fine.

What i do?
vbuleltin 3.8.0 RC2 , Post Thanks 7.7

(too post_groan)

Ajax is active.

I am having the same issue with the page refreshing for each Thank You. It's definitely a page refresh since you can hit the Back button X number of times that you Thanked someone.

I ended up with ver 7.7 with my upgrade to 3.7.4PL1 the previous version was removed before the upgrade. The js file is the 7.7 version. All my users are having this issue.

morrow 01-12-2009 01:03 PM

since installing this hack and the groan hack, i've been having some major issues with my vb 3.8. Since I make daily backups of my DB, which tables will I need to restore from backup in order to get my site working again?

Hi!
I thank one post, after i see double thanks.

See attached

Gunturz 01-15-2009 02:39 AM

hii...
does any one know how to delete all thanks that a user have ?

I've try at admin CP ==> Post Thanks ==> Special Actions
but it didn't work

SgtSling 01-15-2009 09:47 AM

This worked for me.
The only issue I have is the "Show all thanked threads" doesn't work. It never loads. I have 40 thousand total threads. Would that make a difference?

BlackJacket 01-17-2009 09:42 PM

Installed...

But i have a question. Where do i click to thank someone?? lol...

Thanks again.

Make sure you did NOT do the template edits.

Mehdi.K 01-18-2009 04:58 AM

I have upgrade my forum to v3.8 and Post Thanks to 7.7, but in Admin Control Panel the post thanks options page does not show and only bottom copyright message appears when I click "Post Thanks Settings".

rossco_2005 01-18-2009 11:13 AM

Thanks, this works great for me. Had to edit it a bit to suit my needs but the idea was good.

One feature that it could use that would really make it great is to detect if a user posts "thnx" "thx" "thanks" "thank you" etc. and automatically convert that into a thank you instead of allowing the post! :)
I might create that myself if it doesn't already exist.

dmknights 01-18-2009 01:39 PM

Hey everyone I can help out a bit here since I have modified the thanks system a bit on my forum.

For people wanting to change the phrases:

Goto the Phrase Manager -> Search Phrases -> "thanked"
post_thanks_times_posts

The standard phrase is: Thanked {1} Times in {2} Posts

If you want to remove the Thanked: X in X posts... replace the phrase with: Thank: {1}

What this will do is display

Thanks: X

Looks much better in my opinion.

Now to post JUST the Thanks part in the post bit and none of the other garbage here is the code below.

Code:

<a href="post_thanks.php?$session[sessionurl]do=post_thanks_add&amp;p=$post[postid]&amp;securitytoken=$bbuserinfo[securitytoken]" id="post_thanks_button_$post[postid]"<if condition="$vboptions[disable_ajax] != 2"> onclick="return post_thanks_give($post[postid], <if condition="$vboptions[post_groan_integrate]">true<else />false</if>);"</if> <if condition="$display_thanks_image == 'none'">style="display:none"</if> rel="nofollow"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/post_thanks.gif" alt="$vbphrase[post_thanks_thanks]" border="0" /></a>
I attached a screen shot. The thanks are labeled "treats" on my forum.

Sorry this is such an old post...but where do I add this code? I want it to look like that, next to the posts. I changed the phrase and it still shows everything and I have no idea how to just show the 'thanks' and then move it up near the posts...any help would be great :)

Thanks

I had this, and put a workaround in it.

in

/forums/includes/xml/cpnav_post_thanks.xml

find :
Code:

                <navoption displayorder="10">
                        <phrase>post_thanks_settings</phrase>
                        <link>options.php?do=options&amp;dogroup=post_thanks</link>
                </navoption>

replace with :

Code:

                <navoption link="options.php?do=options&amp;dogroup=post_thanks" displayorder="10">
                        <phrase>post_thanks_settings</phrase>
                </navoption>

its all working for me now :)

i know about this. Something to do with the way vb works. i dont think i'll ever fix this. it's not a major bug. or cause any damage at all.

gushil 01-21-2009 05:39 AM

great, installed

inferno5 01-21-2009 05:53 AM

Hello, I would like to say thanks Abe1 for providing this great mod. Its take alot of time and effort to come up with something as creative and efficient as this.

Thanks {Clicked Installed}

I am running 3.8.0 on vBAdvanced and without any problems.

inferno5 01-21-2009 06:43 AM

Update: I don't know why but after I gave up on it, everything started working automatically. Might have been cached template files or some other issue. Anyhow, everything is working now.... Thanks again...

morrow 01-21-2009 09:29 AM

This is one of the errors I'm receiving. I've re-installed the product and re-copied the files just to be sure but this error continually comes up when clicking the post thanks button.

The table, 'dennis1_vBulletin.post_thanks' does exist

PHP Code:

Database error in vBulletin 3.8.0:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT FROM post_thanks AS post_thanks INNER JOIN user AS user USING (useridWHERE post_thanks.postid IN (0,131703,131706,131715,131720ORDER BY post_thanks.username ASC;

MySQL Error   Table 'dennis1_vBulletin.post_thanks' doesn't exist
Error Number  : 1146

Between this and the Groan modifications.... I wouldn't install either of them until the bugs have been worked out. When these two mods are installed, my site starts doing really strange things... Posts vanish then re-appear, numerous mySQL error messages, File's cannot be found messages (but only sometimes). They are just too buggy.... Too bad because I've always like these two mods and my users are crying that they are gone.

Spooony 01-21-2009 09:44 PM

I posted this on the other version but had no feedback, so I'll give it a go on this one:
Just a visual example of what I think would be a good idea, any thoughts from anyone? What do you think, Abe1?
Just having it expressed as a percentage (minus 100% to make it tidier)

I edited the info template but its just modifying for certain usergroups :S
