for what your getting $20 a year isn't that bad for an isolated version of zoints , if you hav 20 members your only asking for $1 a piece a year which isn't all that bad. You could even make that using a fixed banner advert in a 12 month period.

After all its a damn good hack and theres already a lot of active support for it. consider this, the only thing close to a hack like this was a tie in of over 6+ hacks that got close to this. Sure a lot of people release hacks for free even extremely complex ones but if you request that they change it to suit yourself I'm sure they'd ask for a charge.

$120 out the gate and then $20 a year after that aint all that bad. Photopost gallery is just as expensive if not more and provides much much less.

Anyway thats my two penneth on the subject from my point this isn't all that bad and the costs can be recouped.

well I can't testify to that as I've missed whats been said previously and going back in threads is an alien thing for me ;) :p. I don't know what they have planned but their maybe a way to work up other payment solutions in the future?! After all from what I have seen this whole thing only really came up recently so you'll have to accept there might be some communication issues with defining the costings and working out whats best for all involved. After all they are offering us a solution to a requirement isolated board operators need, could have just been a plain no and left us all scuppered :).

Seriously though (and this is for everyone) $120 up front and $20 a year for the support / updates and actual interactions with the developers we are getting is great. Sure theres a few things that need sorting out but from what I can see they are well on the way to being rectified so it bodes the question what do they have planned next for it. I operate a private board so I need this myself as I don't want my members personal information being distributed around a community other than itself. I can't easily make a system so feature rich as this without either a serious investment of my own time or reverting to some cobbled together version of hacks which is missing a lot of what I really need.

Help me fully understand please, everything I have seen/read tells me that if I run Zoints, all the features etc. run off of the Zoints site which each member of my forum will have a profile they can set up there. I get linked back as them being part of my forum under "my communities".

It seems to have cool features etc. but the part I am having trouble understanding (from a business stand point) is why I would want to send my users to another site for some added features and a chance someone else will click the link to hop back to my forum. It just seems that I am funneling users away and losing out on any ad revenue I would gain by keeping them on my own site.

I understand it is a trade off (added experience to the user vs. standard profile) but am I wrong about anything above? I recently installed Photopost Pro, and am installing Classifieds and have the links directory started as added features. I'm looking to add more of course, and I was real excitred when I thought Zoints could be installed on my own server and have upgrades to introduce new features etc. Is there any chance that that will be a possibility one day?

Please don't take this as an attack on your product, it seems really cool and could benefot a lot of people. Please correct anything I may have misunderstood from above.

Ahhhh, gotcha. I thought I read it that way, then I convinced myself otherwise because of seeing the Zoints links on other sites (user profiles) to the Zoints site.

For what I read is just like vB license method. You buy the license for $120. Then after the fisrt year, if you want download the updates and stuff, you renew your license. If not, you can continue using the software without updates.
