Just as a note, I have found that recently there has been the odd registration that has bypassed the "Newbie" classification. They don't seem to post. I suspect they are hackers working on an access.
I know this from one of my two sites which is interest and geography specific. It is too quite for anyone to register on without a reason. This morning I had two, I have probably had a total known of less than a handful. It is interesting that these two were 30 minutes apart on a site which is lucky to get one new registration every few months, and they are both from the San Fransico area, 45.72.3.101 , 107.172.233.66 . |
Operating a one million post forum.
Just installed the #3 version on 3.8.9 - Great! Does anyone answer the phone here? I'd sure like to discuss the operations of Spam-O-Matic. Lots of bots trying to get in and still getting through. Still on manual approval. Did the renaming of register.php - not effective. It's a mess out there. The vBulletin User Banning Options for email address or IP no longer appear to work. It's like Spam-O-Matic gets to them first. I put "@mail.ru" in the email section and they come barreling through in the hordes. Which one is easier on the server? |
I have 2.0.2 installed. Any considerations or steps I should take to upgrade to 2.1.2?
|
I get daily spam threads on my vBulletin forum that use the same word over and over again.
I added that word to the Bad Words list in Spam-o-Matic, but to no avail. The word is used in a link, could that be the problem? |

Thanks for this mod, this will greatly help me in administrating my forum.
Unfortunately I can't get the auto-moderation to work. I created a new user and tried posting something including URLs. Although I think my settings (see attached) should send this post to moderation it is published instantly. Am I missing something? EDIT: I think it is probably like this: www.google.com does not get moderated, http://www.google.com does get moderated. Is there any way to change this? |

I upgraded to v2.1.2 for my vBulletin site running v4.1.3PL8 ..
Upgrade went fine and site runs fine, until someone tries to post something, or reply to a post. It simply hangs with the browser spinning wheel and the post never submits. Even myself as an Admin and with usergroup 5 excluded in the mod options, it still won't post. If I disable Spamomatic, then everything runs fine again. Anyone have an ideas as to why it broke? Thanks... Regards, Doug |
Last time I used this, I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I had to disable it after I discovered a pretty decent flaw in it.
Basically, on my site, we have users that can run their own mini-forum. Unfortunately, as soon as you make them a 'Moderator' of only that forum, it seems they can delete peoples posts and ban them using Spam-O-Matic anywhere on the forum. I'm writing to inquire as to whether or not this was resolved? |
Finally uninstalled this beast ...
Far too complicated for what we need... Thanks for the effort anyway .. Regards, Doug |

You can go in options, but if you want to disable option in inline moderation, it is controlled with this plugin: Menu item in Moderation Tools You can easily found it in plugin manager. If you disable it, no one can use it, whatever settings of the mod are in use. Also you can edit it, by adding controls who can see that option HTML Code:
$template_hook[inlinemod_post_bottom] .= '<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo,5,6,7)"><li><label><input type="radio" name="do" value="spamcleanconfirm" tabindex="42" /> '.$vbphrase['glowhostspamomatic_bsc_title'].'...</label></li></if>'; |
