still having problems with permissions....:s

This hack is flawless if installed properly unlike some of the games (hehe). If anyone is having problems, I recommend removing it and starting over.

I've installed the arcade and everthing went along seamlessly until I tried to access arcade.php.

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.


Even after setting usergroup permissions within CP, I was unable to gain access. I've tried reading through this post for possible solutions, but the 89 pages makes that difficult. Can anyone provide a solution? It would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks, I went back and saw my error. I had pasted the code too early in the line. Ran install_arcade.php again and it worked. :) Works great, thanks a lot.

This issue might have been covered before but I can't find it in the posts. I've set a usergroup to not be allowed to play games until they make 2 posts which promotes them to the new user group. But many people in the first usergroup are still able to play games even though they have made no posts and haven't been promoted to the new usergroup.

You might not have experienced issues, but that's very blinkered of you to say so.

People are having very real problems with this hack on my forum and it is installed character and procedure perfect.

There are VERY FEW people that have had real problems with this hack that wasn't due to their own careless mistakes...and every one of them said "I installed in perfectly...I know I did"...and then they go back and realize they didn't something wrong.

So true... even those who swore blind that they didn't make a mistake have gone back to find that they did.

The fact is, any problems like this (permissions, errors, etc.) are because of file modification mistakes, other installation errors, or (very rarely) other conflicting hacks. It's impossible to support the first two... people just need to take more care when installing.

There are very few problems, but obviously (OK not obviously I know that, but I can assure you...) I have checked everything to ensure that I have installed the hack perfectly. No errors in my file hacks or template files.

It just seems like a sort of "time out" that gives people the "No Permission" screen. As I said, the arcade is great, and a lot of people on my site seem to use it, but that's causing a bigger headache with this issue that the "hardcore" high score group keep running in to.

It's only happened to me once, but that's enough to know it's real.

Surely if it were an error it would do it all the time anyway, not just on the occasional high score/long game, and not across games (that pretty much rules out an error in the flash files).

As I say, SOME people have encountered this on Space Invaders, Hexxagon, Monkey Lander, Pac Man and I'm pretty sure other games, but ALWAYS when they've got a high score.

Well, I just played Space Invaders on your site for FAR too long, got completely bored and killed myself.........

And it recorded the score.

Cuz they are linking to the wrong folder, how do l change the acrade images path?

Well Mini, I would double check your cookie settings or change your cookie prefix if its a timeout thing. If you have this installed on a HACKLESS BOARD and you installed it properly (Like me) Then you should have NO problems.

You can argue all you want about it. We have installed the same hack on the same version VB (RC3/RC4) There is no reason why yours shouldnt work and mine should. The code is the same and so is the installation. I have not had ONE issue with any of the things you mention. There is obviously somethign wrong with your installation of V3arcade or the Forum in General.

Yeah, definitely make sure your Board has no previous Hacks if you aren't a guru with templates and php.

IPB Pro Arcade, which to me looks like a total rip of yours and everytime you make a game for this arcade, this owner seems to release it on his, only his don't record scores due to the action script in your flash files

Thanks Zero, I notified Michael (Admin) at IBPlanet to review the similarity of the code and remove it.

I am also getting a blank screen with one of my styles when I try to load the arcade. This is definitely due to that style not having the custom templates. Can someone tell me how to add the arcade templates to each style? There's got to be a better way than adding 26 templates by hand and copying and pasting. I don't remember the install process asking me if I wanted to add it to all styles. :ermm:

if you login as admin and change style to another one and then run the installer again, it`ll add the custom templates to that style, it seems to add the templates to the admin`s style..

can someone tell me what template or php file i coudl modify to add a banner directly between the window that shows arcade events and the recent scores and the games list?

because i'm running phpadsnew, i had to stop running the ads on the arcade page since it would not allow scores to be recorded, so i figure this is the bnext best thing...if anyone can suggest somethign else that would be great though.

The following is the response I got from IBPlanet. I think it would have to be pursued by you now. Not trying to be a pain, just protecting your work if I can help in any way.

"Myself and another member of the management (aent) have read both codes and we cannot find any resemblence or evidence that any code was adapted from v3Arcade. However, if you think you may know of any section of the ProArcade code that is infringing on your code, feel free to point it out in a reply email.
However, if you find anything more to pursue your side of the argument, we will need a written statement from you of your belief that parts of ibProArcade are indeed infringing on v3Arcade and that you are either the owner of the copyright or are acting on behalf of the owner."

Thanks Amzadi, I sent off a few emails. Such a blatent rip... although the coding is different, the graphics and the templates/layout are *identical*.

That's really too bad. Phpaddsnew is a great set of scripts and used by a lot of people.

Hopefully someday this will be addressed in this arcade hack.

A fix has been posted for phpAdsNew earlier on in the thread, IIRC.

The fix is to not load phpadsnew code on the arcade pages.

You will probably get a lot of rip offs like that. I think I saw my arcade ported to three different softwares without permission, under new names, with identical code and such. I never fought it since I never planned to do anything for other softwares myself.
