Sounds like YouTube has made changes which breaks this script. Without the conversion links to embedded videos there's no point in using this.

clarkstoncracke 04-21-2010 01:32 PM

anybody find a fix for this yet? This is annoying. Youtube changed something in its coding that AME isn't jiving with

DSOG Thomas 04-22-2010 02:31 AM

yeah this sucks

Digital Jedi 04-22-2010 03:26 AM

For those of you having the YouTube problems, you'll need to be sure you have cleared the content of your Validation Regex. You'll likely also need the YouTube definition from my thread, as that is more current than this one. Remember that changes to your posts have to be made manually, so just changing the definition won't fix anything. You'll need to reedit existing posts and possible resynch your file cache.

This is TOTALLY incompatible with passiveVid. Installing them together will create a HOST of issues you may not be able to undo. Besides, AME supports about a hundred more sites than passiveVid currently does. You just need to get them from my add on.

When looking to see if there's a new version of any modification, just look at the author's profile. All his modifications will be listed there.

I went from 2.5.5 - 2.5.6 and this corrected my issue. Thank You

Still broken. Guess it's time to uninstall this one. It simply doesn't work.

passiveVid doesn't change the tags like AME does, it's just ... passive. My forum has over 2 million posts and with AME I'd have to spend an hour running the script to update the old youtube links and then spend just as long if I ever needed to uninstall it and didn't want the left-over AME bbcode. With passiveVid all I had to do was click the "update forum counter" option which took like five seconds to run. So for youtube I'd prefer to use passiveVid however I'd like to use this script for everything else.

I already installed passiveVid and AME together on a test forum and the only negative effects that I'm aware of is double videos being posted unless I go into AME manually and delete the definitions for the sites that passiveVid already uses.

What other host of problems are you referring to that I wouldn't be able to undo?

creativepart 04-25-2010 02:26 AM

I'm running AME 2.5.6 the Validation section of the Admin is blank and it's not working at all for me either.

I'm sorry to see this functionality go away.

ehd 04-25-2010 06:39 AM

Is there a way to add Amazon's tag also in the first link above the picture?

Right now the partner-tag only shows up in the picture-link and the link below the picture.

And all German characters get screwed up. Anything I can prevent this?

Example:

Code:

Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft S?dafrika 2010: Amazon.de: Sven Simon: B?cher
Code:

Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft Südafrika 2010: Amazon.de: Sven Simon: Bücher

Thanks alot

Is this the only mod out there that does this kind of thing? This one is obviously broken.

Done. Done. Done. And done. Still no go. Simply does not work.

When you say "the YouTube definition from my thread," what does that mean? The one at the top of this thread? Do you have only one thread? I'm cornfused.

KrisP 04-28-2010 11:43 AM

Installed AME 2.5 and imported DJ's Master XML (Delta).xml for 2.5

YouTube is working (wasent imported since it was alreay there).

All other links parsed as normal urls. I am not sure what I did miss ? Test link: http://www.tg-o.dk/showthread.php?p=160125#post160125

Great mod btw, looking forward to get it up and running :)

I mean that this isn't my modification. I maintain the Master List of definitions, however, in another thread. It's linked in the Add On section.

Both AME and passiveVid make changes to your post table. Do a search of this thread for passivevid and you'll see the number of problems that users encountered trying to run them together. On a side note, AME does not leave [AME] BBCode, provided you run the conversion script prior to uninstalling.

So far not one has let me look at their forum Admin CP to take a closer look at this problem. There's been no change in YouTube or the definition that should keep this from working. There's no other reason why it shouldn't be working. Whatever it is must be unique to your individual forums.

You would need to ask in my thread for that, since this doesn't come with the thumbnail version of Amazon. But you need to edit all instances of the $ameinfo[url].

shri 05-12-2010 05:57 AM

Hi there, Not sure if this is a bad definition or a bug in the code.

why is the youtube link apper as a link "as a title" not preview as before ??

KrisP 05-13-2010 09:11 PM

When I rebuild and set seconds to 0, it just starts counting down: -1 -2 -3 -4 etc. and never finish?

I just went and searched and I found nothing except the double video issue that is *easily* fixed. As I said, I am running them both on a test site and as long as you deactivate the video sites that passivevid uses on AME then it works fine. I don't know why you guys keep saying otherwise.

So far it doesn't look like there are any conflicts as long as you make one simple change.

Sorry, AME is over-all a superior product but for Youtube passiveVid is better. If there are no negative side effects other than the easily fixed double video issue then I'm running both on my live site...

OK, thx. In which files would that be?

Hornstar 05-15-2010 05:37 AM

I wanted to delete all my definitions and start fresh, but I can't delete any of them.

Even if I only tick 1, then press save. I get a pure white screen a second later.

What should I do?

TheInsaneManiac 05-16-2010 05:29 PM

my settings are not updating

BirdOPrey5 05-17-2010 12:22 AM

Installed and working fine on 3.8.4 PL2, I would have preferred clearer instructions on what to do with existing youtube and amazon definitions before upgrading from v2... should they have been disabled? deleted? kept? whatever I did I guess worked, no double embedding or anything.

blastme 05-18-2010 12:09 AM

I installed it correctly as fas as I know and I don't get the embedded video. This is all I get.

[youtube]zFlHDlYs4c4[/youtube]

Any ideas what is wrong ? TIA

jdougher 05-23-2010 03:51 PM

Uninstalled this and re-installed. Still doesn't do anything (any more--used to work). Totally broken. Can't get it to convert *anything.*

vBulletin 3.8.4 PL1.

I take that back. It's working now. I had to completely save a post before it would embed. Previewing the post does not show the embedding.

Greek76 05-25-2010 06:45 PM

No word yet on why existing youtube links stopped working?

hotone 05-25-2010 11:53 PM

I am having youtube issues too. When i put a link into a post, all i get is the link now. I have tried all of the suggestions in DJ's thread and nothing seems to be working. Any chance you can look at the code and see what's causing the link to post instead of the video? There are a bunch of people having issues. I know you are busy with other project's but this repair would be greatly appreciated.

n1co1982 06-03-2010 02:57 PM

I am having this same youtube issue.

dcputernut 06-04-2010 06:03 PM

Same here....and it was working after i did upgrade last week. but now the existing ones don't work...neither do new ones....

Sorry i posted this in the wrong version...i am using the vb4 version...and it quit working

Super-six 06-15-2010 03:41 PM

NeXuM 06-16-2010 12:02 PM

is it working with vbulletin 3.6.8?

greetings,
AME is a great mod, it really is.
We keep having issues with media and also for amazon links, where umlaute are not embedded correctly:
e.g. this link
HTML Code:

will not be recognized by AME.
or
HTML Code:

Try the definitions from my Add-On for Amazon. I don't think the default ones are up to date anymore. At least for the first problem. I think if you do a search in this thread for ASCII, you will find someone who was able to get the character thing working by editing an AME file.

NeXuM 06-19-2010 03:17 PM

Thanks for your reply

It seems to be working with vbulletin 3.6.8, but only with a few websites (unless i did something wrong)

I installed this mod and i imported the "master" XML from here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=195884

I tested with megavideo and dailymotion and it doesn't work, but youtube video and playlists are working... i don't understand!

Digital Jedi 06-19-2010 09:40 PM

Post the URLs you're having trouble with in my definitions thread.

Thanks for the fast help. the new definition helped with the %C3 urls. But I still have no solution for umlaute in titles. I did not find the post you mentioned about ASCII

None of the URL from megavideo or dailymotion seems to be working...
