Ok...it looks like my users can login with either their OLD forum accounts or their facebook accounts... is it possible to merge those?

Wouldn't that be awesome...

Login using fb connect and use your vb username rather than making up a new one. This is another thing that needs to be implemented better, such as adding the fb connect button in the user cp for people who are already logged in to link their accounts.

Use the vb merge user option... That said, I'm only assuming their fb connect info will be merged along with everything else. That's something I never tried.

Keyser520 05-07-2009 11:06 PM

Using fb connect, you can use your VB name rather than your fb name? Will that attache the facebook account to the vb account somehow?

The first time you log in using fb connect and you have to choose a username you have to put in your vb user name rather than make up a new one. You'll have to then put in your vb password and it'll link your vb and fb accounts. There is no way to unlink in vb (something that should be added) so for anyone who might have made a new vb account with fb connect the only option is to merge the accounts (assuming the fb connect info gets merged too) or delete their new one and have them do the process again with their original vb name.

Keyser520 05-12-2009 02:49 PM

Is it possible for a user to temporarily turn off the thing that brings up the facebook message after every post??

Or to make that always happen without having it ask for you to comment on it? i.e.. just to say "user replied to post" rather than asking for your comments.

How can i make it NOT change the user's status on facebook but still post to their wall?

Thanks!

vbreal 05-18-2009 04:13 PM

users who use facebook connect avatars show in posts even when a user has avatars and sig off in usercp.

i verified this by disabling facebook connect and the avatars stopped showing. they showed again once the mod was enabled

has anyone else encountered this? is there a fix?

mach5des 05-20-2009 08:06 PM

This plug-in works great. But I do get some issues with people who have a VB account and a FB account. The FB account gets confused and the user can't log-in without logging in with the WB account first.

Is there a fix for this?

This is a great mod,

but the problem I'm having is that when I use my FB connect account to submit a thread, etc, I do not get the news-feed option to put it on my wall.

How would I go about fixing this?

Did you verify you made all the necessary template edits and to the proper skins?

ComputerModding 05-31-2009 06:55 PM

This mod is great and has helped with sign up numbers about 40 new members in the last 2 weeks which is not too bad but banned members have beene popping up on the board using their FB login details!!

Seems that when they use FB Connect that the system does not check the FB users for existing IP's used which is a huge pain as I have like 2,300 banned members who technically have free rain on the board again.

Anybody have any suggestions?

dkny 06-07-2009 04:07 AM

is there a way to have the threads appear on a facebook fan site wall instead of the personal wall?

mmoore5553 06-07-2009 05:43 PM

how do i change the connect with facebook icon ? i wanted it the smaller one.

da_j 06-09-2009 08:45 PM

this has been asked before: is it possible to link to the login popup?
or even use the login box on a different page then the forum?
Thanks, jay

What the heck is this????

Code:

An error occurred while creating a feed story from the template and template data you provided. The specific error is listed below:

An invalid target was specified: 100000026180558. The target must be a valid Facebook user id and be friends with the actor.

I tried to do the template part of the install and I have no idea what its talking about. Can someone help me with this? I'm new to facebook just got an account yesterday.

You may need to go back to the Facebook application and reset your Secret Key (read: click the link that says Reset Your Secret Key ;)). Then come back and re-input all your information and try registering the templates again.

Hello everyone,

My community forums has more than 15,000 users and I'm thinking how to make more people to participate on the forums so I found this hack but have some questions before I use it.

I'm using vbulletin in conjunction with linkssql, so I currently share my vbulletin users for both apps. I understand this hack will let people to login into my forums using their facebook username and pass, am I correct?

If yes, How will this hack will handle all my current 15,000+ users on my system?

Thanks in advance for giving me some advice about this hack and the benefits for the implementation, I dont want to make a mess with my current users, I'll love to give them more tools in order to invite them to participate more on my forums.

Thanks in advance.

xXEsEtUlOnXx 06-15-2009 02:54 AM

thanks a lot, this is great.

PD: I Have Nominated it to MOTM

hugh_ 06-16-2009 09:55 AM

Although I've just succesfully tested this hack again I've had a report of the following error:

URL: http://www.forum.net/fblogin.php

*Fatal error:*

- Please complete the required field "Email".

Unable to proceed with save while $errors array is not empty in class *
vB_DataManager_User* in *[path]/includes/class_dm.php* on line *810*

Have I done something? How can I fix it?

Thanks...

I've been reporting this prob for 2 months and other have posted also. Still no reply as to cause or solution.

I've even sent the $25 to developer and not even a response.

I have not done any of the optional template edits. Yet this error is seen when clicking any of the showthread pages.

Any ideas?

Facebook Connect staff:
We've had this on our site, www.stangsofsouthflorida.com/forum for quite sometime and has worked perfectly. Recently users are complaining that the request to post message pops up every time now. There is no option to shut it off, accept just once. Did something change of Facebook... I only work on this forum occasionally as it is pretty basic and runs itself. I have made no updated or changes to the forum software.
Thanks

is there a way to turn off that popup that asks if you want to publish this to facebook, everytime one of my users posts a reply on my forum?

frogster 07-01-2009 02:49 PM

Hey guys - just posted in the facebook connect 3.8,

I did a bit more research on Rpxnow.com and found it to have the same capabilities as facebook connect (including the publishing to news feeds etc) but with many other more login options as well (myspace, yahoo, google, twitter, etc). I just installed the WP plugin for this and it works great. There is currently no VB plugin but we can ask them to make one at the link below. I have already started the request and all you have to do is go and vote for it so we can get it to the top. Users did the same for drupal and joomla and rpx is now creating a plug in. It would be an amazing addition to vbulletin. You can vote (without registering) here:

https://rpx.uservoice.com/pages/8895-general

Look for the request titled "Make a vbulletin plugin" and vote.

it is not working ....... I cant see anything in my forum..... should there be any logo to connect?
