It seems i'm either too tired or I love wasting everyones time! As soon as I read your post I knew what was wrong! I added the templates alright, to a template set I no longer use! Sorry! adding them again!

So how stable is this? Is it safe enough to assume there will be no big problems or is there a good reason it's still in BETA hacks??? :ermm: ??

It is still a beta hack because it's not done yet. While it is perfectly stable and works well, I make no claims to how easy it will be to upgrade to future releases, with game data intact. Of course I will make things as easy as possible, but, as was the case in going from Beta 1 to Beta 2, enough things were changed in the hack that it made an upgrade virtually impossible.

So while the hack works just fine, if you are not willing to work with it a bit, I would suggest waiting until a final version is released.

sometimes when my member's scores are being submitted , it gives them an error and doesn't submit the score. So they have been taking screenshots of their scores right as they finish a game . I can find the 2 places to edit in the mysql to fix their score from a lower scored and recorded game to match the score in the screenshot , but cannot find where to edit it to give them the crown, where is that part located ?

Anyone else having this same prob?

Seem sometimes my "Online Users" shows a blank white page. then some other times its fine.. this is really the only hck I've installed to my new board and it started the sec I installed it..

xxxsaint - IIRC, you would have to manually add their score to the arcadetopscores table as well.

The champion of each game is stored in the arcadegames table, I believe. Look for a field called something like championid...

I am not sure if this has been asked before so if so sorry. I was wondering how I could go about makeing the game high score boxes below each other instead of side by side in pairs of two. Any help with this would be appreicated, thanks

That would require modifying some of the display code in proarcade.php, along with the related templates. I haven't seen anybody ask to do it before.

At some point in the future, I may include a 1- or 2-per-row display option...

I was wondering if its possible to give us the modifications to take out the security features that are making the Mac users unable to record scores. None of my users are web savvy so I don't believe we would have any problems security wise and am willing to sacrifice this to be able to offer all of my users ability to have their scores recorded.
If this is a difficult thing, I understand...but if it isn't...

I have a little problem.

When I load a game, the page is loaded, but IE keeps on loading the flash. The game is never loaded, always loading.

Also the games works fine if I just type the url to the SWF in the address bar.

for the path to games, I had /games/

This was confusing me, I tought the script handled the path from the forum directory.

I've set /forum/games/ and everything works fine now.

Part of Beta 2.1 will be an admin option to remove the gamehash security. BUT, I don't think this is what is preventing Mac users from using the arcade... I think the problem is still in the Flash/browser interoperability.

I have yet to get my hands on a Mac to test it out.

I will give you more info as I find it.

How exactly do I change the text color of $vpachamptext? I tried adding <font color to the postbit around the $vpachamptext but that did not work. ANy help would be great.

Note: The current color is RED....BLOOD RED!

EDIT: SORRY GUYS. I WAS MAKING THIS WAAAAY TOO HARD. THE CONTROL PANEL ON THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!(Which is where the option was to change the text color).

Something I would like to see if possible in beta 2.1 is a Highest score system, that tracks the highest score for that given month at the end of the month for each game.

Aka

John Deo got 2,399,999 points in tetris for the month of april
Some One got 2,400,000 points for Tetris for the month of may

then have the option to set your score points for all games for the next month to zero.

that way new players and members new to the forums have a chance to set a months' worth of new score records for each game, and still see what hall of fame records are to try and beat.

Also I'd love to add a working addon for the arcade jackpot system, that would work for beta 2.1

I'm going to make a simple php system for the hall of fame, but as I'm newer to php/vb hacking, most scores would have to be added manually to start.

what do you guys think?

futureal, thanks for having it on your list for your next release. I can play the games fine in latest IE and Netscape for Mac's OS X (well, sometimes flash is buggy with netscapes browser, but unrelated to your hack). It's just that same thing...the game ends and it goes to the wrong page...so hopefully removing the game hash security will fix it...crossing fingers.

Ok. Something is not working right. Good thing I installed it on a testboard. Anyways, when I goto proarcade.php, click on a game to try, the game won't show. Is it because it's downloading the file or...?

so in the admin i changed it too forum/games but its still loadin major slow unless i link str8 to the file

this might be a stupid question but how would I make it so the comments variable works in the gamescorecell template?

cant wait to use this, i'm in the process of installing it, but when i'm dumping the data into the arcadegames table i come up with an SQL error at Line 1.

Also, i carried on with the installation and took your advice in a previous post to install the games manually through the Admin CP but when i look at the games, its as if they are constantly loading and never seem to appear, the same problem as the people prior to this post.

I'll try and figure it out.

neither of those solved the problems.

take away the starting '/' and it should work depending on what you directory is at.

if it helps, I uploaded game.swg on my server as

forum/games/.swf files
forum/images/graphics/ <-- game icons

then just uploaded all my arcade info in the admin cp, it works perfectly for me... not sure if that helps :P

PS: how goes testing for the next release of beta 2.1? I've been waiting to install it rather then beta 2.0... on my new forum.

ok, so i managed to get it working on my dev copy, but now when i try and install it on the live forum, when i click to go to the arcade, i just get a blank page. Anyone else had this problem?

installed works perfect - hardest bit was adding all the templates (was very tiring) but besides that it installed perfect.

Now one minor prob and hope someone can help me with this -

grf show for games on main arcade page but over to far right the 2 icons are showing as red x`s and not sure why as they are in same folder as the gfx icons for the flash games so where have i gone wrong.

Hack is installed perfect - everything works just this dont now

and i am the champion as im the only one who played for testing purpose only so i got all the crowns

The two variables work perfect on me test board but not on main board so any clue what would be stopping it and where about is the code that calls it in then i can re-check the info.

I have done this twice now so i reckon it must be a hack that is interfering with it.
