after upgrading user option i can't see chatbox even i have down graded again to old chatbox version 1.3 but still the problem remains . any help please

Go into the usergroups area in your Admin CP, and change the permissions of each of your usergroups (Admins, Registered users, etc.). The ability to see the chatbox is way at the bottom of the permissions page (after you've clicked the specific usergroup, of course).

I see the chatbox on the forum, but there's always the message "loading".

I've uploaded the files, also in the different styles map. I've changed the templates. I've imported both products.

Ok, I'm having a problem, but it's not my usergroup. It's all checked yes across the board... and yes, I triple checked over and over and moved them to admin and everything... still having this problem. Problem is that some users just logon and poof, chat box is gone. I have to prune their name to another account... move it and move it back. Onced moved back, they see it again, but then falls off. Squall_Leonhart on my forum is going bonkers. I have to look for another product and uninstall. Man, ... great chatbox

I read all 87 pages of this thread and am also getting the same error when trying to edit group permissions:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.7:

Invalid SQL:

Error Number : 1054


Now I know the answer will be because both products are not installed. By this do you mean both product-mgc_bitfield_custom.xml and product-mgc_chatbox.xml are not uploaded to the server?

In my case both files are present on the server along with all the other files in their respective locations. So if that's what you mean by both products then I've got that covered. If that's not what you meant then what did you mean? :D

Alright I'll jump on the grenade here......in the instructions:

# Import the product-mgc_bitfield_custom.xml product from the p folder.
# Import the produit product-mgc_chatbox.xml product from the p folder.

It says to import which does not mean copy. You have to go into Admin CP under Plugins and Products then select Add\Import Product and path to the xml files. Hehe I didn't get it the first time around. :P

i installed the hack -> but the XHTML-validation vailed ---> there are something about 70 xhtml-errors.
will this be cleaned out in a newer version?

As I posted just recently, I'm having the same problem. Site owners, beware, your chatbox will disappear randomly. My users complained about it. Had to prune, move, and remake their accounts so they could see it. It just happened to me just now. I log on, poof it's gone, log off, it's there... and nope, it's not a usergroup error. You have to prune your account to a second one (merge it). Then delete the first account. Then you have to create the first account again, and then merge the second one to the first one to get it working. Great chat box, but err.... if I log onto my test account, it's there, so the error just randomly happens to users regardless of group.

And whoever the coder is, I spent 4 hours of doing random test. Moving groups, creating accounts, and etc. There is a bug and it's hard to catch. If you wanna test my account on my forum, just pm here and I'll send you my info so you can see.

Been using this brilliant mod on four of my (now) six boards, two of which are very heavily modded, all without any problems at all. Unable to comprehend how you manage to create these errors.

Who knows? But the coder can use my logon and test it himself. Anyways, one of my users complained about it two months ago and laughed at the thought. I then a few days ago logged into his account and it did the same thing. Then I did what I posted above and worked. Now, I've been logged on all day and just recently, it disappeared just like his account. Just posting incase... because i really don't wanna replace this. I'll post some screenshots.

Ok, I posted some screenshots. Look at the first picture. You can see Cloud07 in usergroup admin, number 2. There, I took a picture of the permissions. See it? Now look at the chatbox below... poof, not there.

Anways, look at the second picture. Ripfuel, is in the same usergroup and guess what.... you see the chatbox. Look @ the CHATBOX. What username do you see in there? You guessed right! Cloud07.

I was sufing this morning and made no changes to the forum. I logged back on and you can see that it's gone. One of my users had the same problem and if you notice the quote, this guy had the same problem.

Please look into this. Hey, it may work great for some, but there may some hidden bug. On top of that, this only happened after 1 month, so it just didn't come out of nowhere :p

I run this on 5 forums and all users can see it. I think it's something else if you have to do all that. How many hacks are you running?

It's not the number of hacks that I'm running. If this was the case, then I should see the chatbox here or there, would work or not work at all. No, once this error occurs, you don't get the chatbox back unless you recreate your own account. Someone one else complained of the same error. But anyways, just putting it up incase :p

I think it's something else... Have you tried this on the default VB style and replicated it too? Meaning the uneditied/unhacked style?

I'm having a problem with the unregistered/not logged in usergroup not seeing the chatbox. I want them to see it, and I have it enabled in their usergroup, but it's not there for them.

any ideas??

if you take the time to read back through the posts, obviously most of you have not, then you will see the last release is bugged up to the eyeballs, and the coder has gone away and does not know when he will be back to support it.

try the 2nd release as that seemed to be the stable one.

na, it has nothing to do with ripfuel changing settings. I witnessed it myself when one of my other users let me log on their account. Same exact error. I did tons and tons of testing before posting about this. It reallly comes down to the chatbox randomly disappearing even with the usergroup enabled. If a chatbox disappears, you have to delete the account, merge it to another, and then move it back, and poof... chatbox comes back up. If i have to record a video, i will :p

so great it causes an IE7 error on page load (check out the task bar)

Great product, lovin it! Had to downgrade to 1.3 due to that constant refreshing thing people talk about on 1.4. Looking foward to checking out the next version. keep it up!





Make sure you have nothing (0) entered for "Minimum number of posts required to use the Chatbox". :) Even though that reads "to use" if you only have "view" selected that's all they'll get.

Thanks, that was the problem, and I fixed it yesterday.

Today, however, is a new problem, lol.

The chatbox is getting hung up during refreshing, and the little circle thingee just keeps going 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and.... well, I'm sure you get my point :)
Then when it does finish the cycle, the posts in the chatbox do a big leap.

Any ideas?

vbulletin options -> MGC Chatbox : General Options --> Enable the chatbox? *yes*

then go to

vbulletin options --> usergroup manager --> edit usergroup --> and at the bottom set settings for "MGC Chatbox Permissions"

Ok, I pruned my accouned from cloud07 to cloud2007. Then I pruned it back again from cloud2007 to cloud07 and now it works again... errr

Obviously the /prune command doesn't work on this chatbox, as it does on others.
Can this be added? I look at the planned features for future versions and didn't see this.
The /prune function, to empty the chatbox is really invaluable.
