Click install please, there's an update in the works.

cormee 07-06-2007 01:39 PM

Ok, I got my installation working, however for some reason the its not working when one goes into the sub-forum, has anyone else encountered this problem?

RedTyger 07-07-2007 01:00 PM

Could you explain in a little more detail?

Well the script works at forum level but when I click into a sub-forum theres no sign of it, ie. the table isn't there! It works on forum postings etc. .. it's very strange!

djbaxter 07-07-2007 06:15 PM

This has been working fine for me until recently. Now, the header and footer parts still work but the ads for "after 1st post" or "after last post" no longer show up. As above, nothing shows up on those spots.

I'm not sure when these stopped displaying - it may have been with the installation of 3.6.7 or PL1, or of course it may be the result of another add-on I suppose.

Is anyone else having this problem? It's odd that whatever it is doesn't affect the header and footer ads. That makes me wonder if it's not the result of some of the hook changes with 3.67 or competition with another add-on for the same hooks.

Suggestions?

RedTyger 07-07-2007 06:41 PM

Sounds like the first port of call would be to disable other modifications and see if that helps.

The table? Are we talking columns here? One particular ad? All ads?

I think it's easier to post a link than to explain!

http://www.newtotown.ie/forum/ - It works at this level
http://www.newtotown.ie/forum/life-ireland/ - But not here!

:confused:

RedTyger 07-07-2007 06:53 PM

Did you add $threadbit_advertisement to templates forumhome_forumbit_level1 AND forumhome_forumbit_level2?

kyokushin4life 07-09-2007 09:08 AM

Redtyger, is it possible to remove the "sponsored link + box" in the postbit?(ad after 1st post etc). I just would like to put a linkunit ad after 1st post and remove the box above it with sponsored links. I hope you understand what i mean.

*I do want the ad to be enveloped by a box tho just not the one above it.

Resolved.

The problem was almost embarrasingly simple. When I upgraded to vBulletin 3.6.7 (ant then PL1), I had to revert several templates. I put back the tags for header and footer and forgot to do the same for postbit. :o

Edit your postbit_advertisement template and delete this part:
Code:

<tr>
        <td class="thead" style="line-height:1.5em;">
                <if condition="$GLOBALS[removeads] != ''">
                        <div>
                                $GLOBALS[removeads]
                        </div>
                </if>
                $vboptions[adintegrate_adtitle]
        </td>
</tr>

If that's now what you're after then it's a case of editing the template as you need. :)

We've all done it. :) Template edits will hopefully not be needed in the next version.

No, I added $forumbit_advertisement to templates forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

Hello, is there anyway I can get my forum to resize to peoples resolutions with vB management in place? I have 1024x768 resolution and 1/4 of my page is missing to the right and I have to scroll hard to the right to see it all. There is another forum though with the same set up as mine and everything adjusts perfectly over there. Please let me know how I can fix this problem, thank you.

I'm stumped for now, but I'll look into it when I get round to it.

The problem is either with your style, which uses a fixed width which means it will not adjust to larger or smaller sized screens (like the difference between liquid and fixed styles on vBulletin.com) or you have chosen adverts that are too big for your screen in which case you must choose adverts that fit. It's not really an ad management problem.

PDM 07-15-2007 04:21 PM

hello

THIS hack ads show ONLY for Admin site????? no show for other usergroup

RedTyger 07-15-2007 04:22 PM

You need to change your usergroup settings in vB Ad Management General Settings. It is set to display to admins only by default.

dssart 07-16-2007 10:31 PM

Great add-on to VBulletin, but I'm unsure on what is permissible according to Google's TOS regarding ad placement on pages with no content. I have the header ad placement enabled, and the header ad shows up everywhere including the following:

User Control Panel
FAQ (header)
Members List
Calendar
New Posts
Advanced Search
Quick Links -> Today's Posts
Settings & Options -> Edit Signature
Settings & Options -> Edit Profile
Settings & Options -> Edit Options
Settings & Options -> Edit Avatar
Settings & Options -> Edit Profile Picture
Private Messages -> List Messages
Private Messages -> Send New Message
Private Messages -> Track Messages
Private Messages -> Edit Folders
Subscribed Threads -> List Subscriptions
Subscribed Threads -> Edit Folders
Moderation -> Deleted Threads
Moderation -> Deleted Posts
Moderation -> Moderated Threads
Moderation -> Moderated Posts
Miscellaneous -> Event Reminders
Miscellaneous -> Paid Subscriptions
Miscellaneous -> Buddy/Ignore Lists
Miscellaneous -> Attachments

I know in the vB Ad Management Global Settings there is a section "Do NOT display advertisements for scripts". Just for everyone to see without having to go find this and look for it:

"This allows you to exclude pages based on the type of content they are displaying. Enter the names of the scripts which you don't want to display advertisements, separated by your delimiter. (i.e. register#private#index)

Some advertiser's TOS requires you to exclude pages without content, such as registration pages. Ask in the vBulletin forums if you need help identifying the correct scriptnames, or you can find them yourself in the code files as described here."

My question is, what does everyone else disallow? Unless someone renames the scripts, shouldn't we all basically have the same scripts disallowed? Finally, can someone give me a list that I can copy and paste into this section of the script names that are known to be Google No-No's?

Thanks!

That's interesting. I still have trouble with left, right or both Columns with Firefox. Does your forum work OK in firefox with VB Ad Management installed? If I click some (not all) of my main forum headings, the main table resizes, but the content is the same (i.e. main forum headings). I have to click the forum heading a second time to actually go into a forum.

I do not expericence this with IE7.

More or less most of my VB settings are default. I have tried changing main table % and to PX instead, but am no further forward.

I am not really worried about the difference in gap re the left and right columns to the main table (as mentioned in the mod description), but the 'double click resize issue' may present a difficulty for my potential forum users.

My forum is not off the ground yet. VB Admanagement seems a wonderful Mod and ideal for me apart from the issue mentioned above.

I guess I will have to go with Header/Footer ads (which work perfectly), but would be very interested if a user with VB Admanagement could enable left and right col ads and try with Firefox? - just to see if you experience the same thing? As a newcomer to VB I have been convinced it must be something I am doing wrong, but I am running out of experiments to try:confused:

RedTyger 07-17-2007 04:04 PM

I experience it myself :) you are not making any mistake. I simply used vBulletin's own suggested code. It sounds likely that this is a Firefox problem, but I'd certainly make the appropriate changes if anyone can provide alternative code.

* Upload the product using the Product Manager.
* Upload the folder in the includes folder of the zip file you downloaded to the includes folder of your vBulletin installation.
* Go to Style Manager > Edit Templates and...
* Find <!-- post $post[postid] popup menu --> and paste $postbit_advertisement above it in your postbit & postbit_legacy templates.
* Paste $forumbit_advertisement at the bottom of your forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and forumhome_forumbit_level2_post templates.
* Paste $threadbit_advertisement at the bottom of your threadbit template.
* Paste $footer_advertisement at the top of your footer template.
* Find $spacer_close in your footer template and below it paste $rightcolumn_advertisement.
* Find &nbsp; in your header template and replace it with $header_advertisement.
* Find $spacer_open in your header template and below it paste $leftcolumn_advertisement.
and what? where do I need to go? omg.....

RedTyger 07-17-2007 06:47 PM

Well it says below that. Read the line below the one you highlighted, go to postbit template and paste in what it says, where it says.

dssart 07-17-2007 11:43 PM

I've found that I'm placing the $template other than what is descirbed in the documentation. For example, I didn't like how low and out of sight the footer ad was, so I placed it in FORUMHOME and FORUMDISPLAY in netween the threads table and navigation at the bottom. Will this result in any sort of performance hit on my forum?

RedTyger 07-18-2007 08:15 AM

Nope. Can you mark as installed please. :) Bottom of the first post.

foreva 07-18-2007 08:43 AM

I've installed ad managment
http://www.220mb.com/forum/index.php
and i like it :)

One question: only logged in members see the ads - guests don't see anything.
Why is that ?

RedTyger 07-18-2007 08:44 AM

Mark as install please.

Add usergroup 1 to your usergroup settings in vB Ad Management General Settings.

foreva 07-18-2007 08:55 AM

I've marked. and thanks, it worked :)

dssart 07-18-2007 09:13 AM

O.K., here's another..I've got one 728 x 90 leaderboard as my header, a 728 x 90 at the beginning of every post, and a 728 x 90 at the end of every post. I use two 468 x 60 banners within my forumbit and postbit.

I don't like the smaller banners, as I have text and image ads, more time than not, the banner will display only the text ads. It seems the larger, more graphical 728 x 90 ads aren't available in 468 x 60.

Is there a way to change forumbit_advertisement and postbit_advertisement files to spread horizontally across the "last post" and "threads" column, and perhaps leave the last column "posts" for the "sponsored links" blurb?

If this isn't clear, I can post an image of what I mean.

I think I follow. If you look in the forumbit advertisement template, there's a colspan definition. This defines how many table columns that cell spreads across. So if you wanted it to spread across the entire table, you could remove all the other columns from the template and set colspan="99". It will span 99 columns or since there aren't that many, just as many as the table has. So if you wanted to leave the Sponsored Links cell, you'd set colspan to the number of columns the table has, minus one.

Same goes for the threadbit_advertisement template (I'm assuming that's what you meant rather than postbit).

Many Thanks for confirming this Red Tyger - Great Support!

Is there a way to change this:

All it will add is a username (the name of your forum)

I want to use other name instead of the name of the forum, thanks.

Videx 07-19-2007 01:16 AM

Odd. I just added a fifth ad and Firefox isn't showing it. Opera and msie seem fine.
