Thanks for the instructions! However, I don?t want to make a completely new installation, I need to update the existing MOD without loosing data of the persons who already have awards and without loosing graphic files and definitions of existing awards.

Is there a different approach for updating the existing MOD ?

Thanks in advance

Netzwart

1) upload all files
2) import the product

thats it, you don't need to follow any other instructions

gbicar 10-15-2012 12:39 PM

it works but I do not see the post of the medals, and even the button to the requests, tried to uninstall and re-install but nothing.
any advice?

vb 4.2.0 patch level2

If you're talking about the nav button, you'll need to add it manually for vb 4.2 since it uses the new navigation manager which the mod does not yet support.

FCDobbs 10-15-2012 02:08 PM

I presently have 4.0.2.1 version.
What is involved in updating to this new 4.0.4 version ?
(I don't see this info in any of the readme or instructions)

Thanks

squidsk 10-15-2012 02:38 PM

Same as installing it fresh, upload all the files in the upload directory, import the xml making sure to check the override checkbox.

gbicar 10-15-2012 04:25 PM

I did so, but the button for the recommendation medals has not been created, the same for the thread that should contain the medals.
but with the old version everything was ok.
gives me an error. loading php, but I have not had time to read.
for the rest no problem

Bluefin221 10-15-2012 04:29 PM

Spoke to squidsk about this but wondering if anyone has ever been able to get a medal to show only 1 time on the postbit, so you could issue the same medal numerous times and have it show up once on the postbit instead of how many times you issued it.

Would really appreciate any help with this as its doing my head in.

CAG CheechDogg 10-15-2012 06:52 PM

Great to see you updated this squidsk!....Thanks a lot buddy, my Clan was bugging me about this, they were bored lol....Thanks again buddy!

CharlieDelta 10-16-2012 01:11 AM

Thank you squidsk!

Dave234 10-17-2012 12:15 AM

So....if my web host makes a backup of my website every day, is that the same as my mysql database having a backup?

Is that all I need to be able to install this mod?

Thunderbird8 10-17-2012 05:18 AM

Having your own backup is a better idea, that way if something goes wrong, you don't need to bug your webhost.

Mellow 10-17-2012 12:21 PM

I'm a bit confused on one point.. is the automation only based on the criteria listed in that mod? I was hoping to allow members to request an award and have the system automatically give them that award without myself or the mods approving it.. just saves us time. Thanks,

squidsk 10-17-2012 03:46 PM

There is no mechanism to allow average users to be able to give themselves an award, and I doubt I'll add it as that can be way too easily abused.

killerford 10-21-2012 10:53 PM

So is this mod now back up and running without any problems or sign of hackers or exploits on it?

Thunderbird8 10-22-2012 12:07 AM

It would not have been released from quarantine if there was still a known problem with it. The Exploit Guidelines specifically say that a fix is checked by staff to ensure it's actually fixed.

Hello Squidsk,

I got the following notification:

The templates shown on this page have been updated in the default template set since you customized them.

It may be necessary for you to revert the custom templates, or otherwise check that they fully support vBulletin 4.1.10. If you do not do this, some sections of vBulletin may not function! Please see the release announcements at the vBulletin.com Forums for more information.

And it looks like this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2012/10/13.jpg

What should I do buddy?

gbicar 10-22-2012 10:31 AM

I get this error during installation, but because there are two. xml file? which is the right one?
What should I do?

I've never had that crop up in my testing and I always test by both upgrading from the last version (4.0.3) and as a clean install. I'd say that you customized the templates, except that the changes were made by me or the system. I'd almost say that there is/was a bug in the plugin system in 4.1.10. Revert the templates to default is what I'd suggest, but only after taking a backup of the awards tables just in case something goes fubar.

You should only use the xml file that isn't labelled new. The one labelled old shouldn't even be in the zip (a mistake on my part) and can be safely deleted. If you still get the error using only one of the xml files, then its likely a problem/conflict being caused by another plugin you have installed.

CAG CheechDogg 10-22-2012 03:25 PM

Ok squidsk, I will do just that, it's weird though because I never touched those templates...I don't use the CAG Style templates only the Blackstealth, so I can just dismiss the warning for those 2 correct?

FTG LIQUID CL 10-23-2012 01:29 PM

Glad to see this fixed thanks.

Janmaat 11-03-2012 08:45 AM

It shows me in the forum this:
-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: awards_awardusers_bit --> ,

How can I change/hide this text?

CAG CheechDogg 11-03-2012 09:04 AM

Sounds like you have enabled Template Names in HTML Comments. Do the following. Go to Settings - General Settings

Add Template Name in HTML Comments

Add the template name at the beginning and end of every template rendered. This is useful for debugging and analyzing the HTML code, but turn it off to save bandwidth when running in a production environment.

Set that setting to off.

CAG CheechDogg 11-03-2012 09:06 AM

Jaanmat, do you have a link to you forums, I might of given you the wrong solution buddy. I will be able to tell if you provide a link.

Janmaat 11-03-2012 09:43 AM

You have an PM. Thanks for helping. Really appreciate it :)

I just applied the recent security patch and it appears to move the awards showcase in the postbit over into the post message. What template do I need to look for to move it back?

It appears its a IE browser only issue. But something changed in the latest patch that made the showcase css horizontal list to be undone.

It actually magically fixed itself, I think it could have been a session issue cause it apparently only effected me. Had other people try it on the forum and it worked fine. Weirdest error so far XD

Good stuff man keep an eye out for it still.

I just stumbled upon a HTTP 500 error on the awards.php page. http://www.tns-gaming.com/awards.php

And its nothing I've added to the website today that is causing this error. The php is the same as i've installed it.

I visited the page and get no such error. An http 500 error usually refers to an unknown http error condition when communicating with the server.

CAG CheechDogg 11-06-2012 07:00 AM

Wow! I clicked on the link and I too got a 500 Internal Server Error and is not making me wonder if that is the reason I am also getting 500 Internal Server Errors on my site too.

Squidsk, after the patch I started getting these errors and I thought it was something to do with server overloads. I never had these errors in the past and I do get them regularly, up to 5-10 times a day now.

Can you please take a look, I can confirm I got that error when I visiting his link and like I said, I have gotten these myself on my site.

psico 11-06-2012 11:06 PM

Someone tested it on a big board?
I have a forum with 2.5MM users and 15MM posts.

I'd need the server logs for the time that someone gets one of the 500 errors to have any chance of figuring it out. I'm unable to re-create the problem, but that certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Any other details about when it happens would help. Are you logged in, what are you trying to do on the awards.php page, etc.

I'll try to pull some logs, but I do have the problem when I am logged in, when logged out no issues.

Squid it is very random, sometimes just going to the awards.php it happens, sometimes not even in the awards.php , this started happening after the update never had this problem before.

I thought it was something to do with server overload but my host said nothing like that has been an issue with my site.

They said it was caused by a php file.

If I come across any more information I will let you know.

SpikedRocker 11-11-2012 05:30 PM

The error being tossed is: [11-Nov-2012 18:19:30 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare construct_depth_mark() (previously declared in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\forum2\awards.php:99) in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\forum2\includes\adminfunctions. php on line 1922

The fix I've done is just comment out the if statement of makemarkdepth starting at line 97 going through line 109.

Its my opinion that this bit of code is not needed as the function is now being declared by vB itself now.

Its declared by vbulletin, always was, but isn't accessible to the awards.php page unless you're including inlcudes/adminfunctions.php, which YaAS does not do by default. One of your other plugins is making a connection to includes/adminfunctions.php that isn't there normally. The real problem is the mod is doing it badly. If you notice the code you commented out is surrounded by an if statement checking if the function exists, so if their code was working correctly the construct_depth_mark wouldn't be (re)declared by awards.php. The fact that its generating an error with the if statement there means there's a flaw in the code of another plugin you're using.

What other plugins do you have installed?

Abominus 11-12-2012 12:40 PM

Great mod! :)

Can you tell me how to get it straight in the middle of the postbit? :)

squidsk 11-12-2012 05:23 PM

A screenshot to show what you're talking about please.
