Will this work for 3.6.12?

vestaxpdx 12-09-2009 05:33 PM

Is this mod still supported? Will there be a version for vb4?

v4ytH 12-11-2009 06:03 AM

Cool stuff
I've installed it on my forums and it runs fine except there's a little glitch..

A few buttons on my forum stopped working everytime i activated facebook connect, like the Thread Tools, Search This Thread buttons and some other buttons on my chatbox.

Anyone experiencing similar issues? Any pointers is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Skydiver10 12-11-2009 01:16 PM

Now that you mention it, I checked my threads and when I click on thread tools, it only shows the option "Show Printable Version"? Is what you mean?

Edit: Never mind, that changes after I sign in and check it! Dughh!

Bouncer222 12-13-2009 03:25 AM

is it possible to not let people login with their facebook account unless they register the regular way vbulletin is made for users to register? Because I don't want to have people just login using facebook and never register on our site, or does it automatically create a user for them when they login with facebook?

Thanks.

Check the vBnexus support thread. I posted the relevant queries and experience there.

Nosfer@tu 12-21-2009 09:36 PM

How will this work with Jfusion ? :D

Why have I not installed this before :D

taylorpiano 12-22-2009 12:27 PM

ok, there are way too many pages of messages for me to read (84) to find out what this does exactly.
One of my concerns is if users login via Facebook, will that mean our own website will no longer get hits and no longer see the ads that will help fund us running our website?
Does this also still keep track of users last logins and all other related stats on our website?

The other question is on the Benefit listed
* Users can simply login with their Facebook account without going through the registration process.
Our registration forces the user to type in their birthdate, location and a few other fields related to the nature of our website to make an effort to lower or prevent our spammer rate.

All this does is log users in or register them via Facebook. It doesn't change anything else you have your forum set up to do.

Anyone notice any changes after the 19th. My templates didn't seem to register after a few hours ago.

ThuPapiVolvox 12-22-2009 07:37 PM

dwdsdsdd thank you...

AlBDJ-Net 12-23-2009 04:56 AM

this mod is so great thank you!..Installed

Stirling 12-23-2009 04:19 PM

This is a terrific mod. Thanks for releasing it.

Has anyone successfully incorporated the Facebook invite friends feature into their forum with this mod?

I'm thinking of the way you're often prompted to invite friends the first time you log onto a Facebook application. That would really increase site virality I think.

saviola8x 12-23-2009 05:19 PM

please update for vb4 . thank so much

eternal_ 12-23-2009 09:57 PM

Is Facebook connect going to be available for 4.0?

obmob 12-23-2009 10:30 PM

Nice idea, this should be standard in new vb 4.0 ¬¬

Stirling 12-25-2009 02:08 PM

Is anyone else having trouble getting the Email Settings functionality to work? When I click on it a Facebook box saying Request for Special Permissions pops up but then disappears.

I see the developer hasn't logged in since September. Is anyone supporting this mod?

Steve_nash 12-26-2009 07:24 AM

it dosent work on IE 8

One Bug:

When I Access an Account with Facebook Connect, it Connects but when I End the Session the Facebook Account is Still Oppened, is I write www.facebook.com on the Browser it Displays the Oppened Account, (very Dangerous if an User Access his/her Account on a Public Computer and isn't Aware that his/her Facebook Account will Remain Oppened even if he/she Ends the Forum Session); is an Open Window for Facebook Security and Privacy Problems.

(This Happens on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla FireFox, so is a Problem with the Mod and Not the Browser).

Can this be Corrected? How?

I also noticed that when I access the Account with Facebook Connect, I Close the Session, and Click the Facebook Connect Button, it Immediately Access the Account without Displaying the Facebook Login Window; this is Related with the Bug I mentioned before.

I Appreciate Your Answer, I'll Subscribe to this Mod's Thread to Receive a Solution to this Facebook Security Problem.

(I'm Using Version 2.0.5 of this Mod for vB37x).

My Best Regars.

:)

inciarco 12-27-2009 06:48 PM

I've Updated to version 2.0.6 on vB37x, and the Same Bug Occurs.

I Hope You Can Fix That Bug. :(

I've Disabled the Mod for Now, is Not Right to Offer this Facebook Connection Option if that Causes Privacy/Security Problems for the Users on their Facebook Accounts, because their Accounts Will Remain Oppened and Anybody Can Access Them and Even Steal Them (Change the Password) if they're Accessed on a Public Computer. :(

My Best Regards.

:(

What happens if this mod is turned off (to upgrade to vb4). Do existing accounts made with a FB connect still function properly?

This product logs you in via Facebook, not the other way around. You should be using Facebook to log out of the forums. This is true with all (and the point of) Facebook bridges.

Yes, that's what it's supposed to do. If your logged into Facebook, you only need to give it permission once, as with all Facebook apps.

I understand.

Is it Possible for the Application to End the Facebook Session when the the User Ends the vBulletin Session?

I Hope that is Possible. ;)

Meanwhile is Important that WebMasters Warn their Users about this, (a Notice Message), so that if they Login with Facebook they Log Out of Facebook when they Finish their Session on the vBulletin Board.

My Best Regards.

:)

Any Support for vbulletin suite?

Bouncer222 12-28-2009 09:32 PM

TWO QUESTIONS:

1.With this mod, when someone logs in with their facebook information, does this mod/product create a new account on the site based on their facebook login?

2. When a user is already registered on my site, will they still be able to login with their facebook information? And if the answer to number 1 is a yes, then what if an existing user logs in with his facebook login, will it create a new one?

wouldn?t their password need to be reset? and what about their email address? they cant reset their password without the correct email which this mod doesnt save.

i?d love to shut this off but it doesnt seem like its possible after so many ppl already registered using FB connect.

FYI to all that are reading this thread, there is zero reason to be using this mod anymore. Yay! Another Facebook Bridge is everything this modification is and considerably more, with support and an easier installation:

Facebook new account creation
Facebook to existing account linking
Non-Facebook email requirement
Etc.

I would suggest moving this mod (and the 3.7, 3.6 version of it) to the modification graveyard as there is zero support for it, and there is clearly another mod that duplicates it's functionality and then some.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=223555

I tried YAFB like you said. You talked it up and said how great it was. I think I was better off when I was using this mod (Facebook Connect). Facebook to existing account linking my butt.

So far I'm am NOT a fan of YAFB.

Goomzee 01-11-2010 03:18 AM

Woot. You asked the questions I wanted to know.

Yup. And Private Messages and other personal notifications.

I meant "Suscribed"

And thanks.

I'm having some issues with the Data Mapping. I've set the location to location, avatar to Profile Picture (100x300) and have set the usergroup permissions to allow avatar uploads and have a max of 300x300 size. I also have another thing that I designed myself that works off of a facebook username and mapped the Facebook UID to my "Facebook Username" profile field.

However... not a single one of these transfers over from facebook. I've tried on two different accounts and have deleted / recreated these accounts on my website to continue testing, but still no progress.

Any ideas?

DAIR1 01-16-2010 10:46 AM

Up And Running!

Shall be testing this out today.

So far so good.

Very impressed!

MotMann 01-16-2010 02:28 PM

Is it better to create a Group or a own side for that Skript?
