The only other Idea is: do you have enough banners in the database? If you have say 1 banner for that page, of course there will not show up another banner at any other same location (I see you use location 2). The reason is, that for showing 2 banners for the same location (2) you need to have 2 banners for that location in the database.

valdet 05-14-2011 03:43 PM

I actually have 5 banners for placeholder #2.

Can the core files of your product be modded to include additional template hooks so banners are shown in postbit_legacy. I am displaying the banners through mt_rand() by hooking them on postbit_display_complete location

Thanks for your time Giovanni.

Installed and working on 4.1.3 CMS

Is there a way to restrict the size of the output banner?

I have some banners 468x60 and some 486x80. I'd like to put a height="60px" somewhere and have the larger banners resize themselves.

You may use the flash wrapper (yes, it loads most images, too) and define a size (both).

You mean 30-40 locations?

With this plugin you can have up to 10 locations but you can put thousands of banners in each location.

Gripi 05-21-2011 02:12 PM

yes.. i mean 30-40 locations, or unlimited locations.

is it possible ?

It's certainly possible with some custom coding. But get a grip man. You're shooting yourself in the foot. Nobody's going to read a site with 40 banners on every page they look at. I mean, how do you mean to prevent them from using adblockers? How do you even expect there to be room left on a page to display the forum?

Gripi 05-21-2011 05:04 PM

hello...

my site already run for almost 6 years, and keep growing.

i need this mods but for unlimited position.

could someone help me?

thanks

You may have as many banners your database can hold :)

I'm pretty much sure you need no unlimited positions but at most a few. Together with all the rules and filters you may show an incredible amount of different banners in all kinds of areas of your forums.

If you believe you need a position for each banner, you are wrong. Each position can be reused for different rules, and that's its power :)

I have a template on my site, will this cause the hack not to work?

This product does not insert banner placeholders by itself, but requires you to do so. Please see the Flash help on the very first post in order to see where to put hands on.

I'm trying to figure out how to enable click tracking for a link in a text ad. You had posted the info below but I can't figure out the code... If you could elaborate, I would greatly appreciate it! :)

If you wish to count clicks, you will have to include the respective code in your script as well. If you enable click tracking for an image banner, you will see what it needs.

Basically you'll have to call the [forumhome]rbs_banner.php?id=123 script, where 123 is your banner id. Unfortunately I'm unable to tell what happens if there is one or no destination URL. Most probably you'll have to fix the script for your specific needs, too. I believe it may work, if your scripts have no dynamic destination.

is it possible for you to release the code with 20-30 positions? not just 10 positions.

thanks alot

No. First you must read this entire thread. This is the case with any modification. Then you need to read all the instructions. If you had done this already you wouldn't need to ask this question.

My answer describes standard procedure for all mods. Your question and this response to my very reasonable answer is the attitude. I mean, do you want us to install it, sell ads, and make banners for you too?

bad2dbone 05-27-2011 04:23 AM

Ya would you? If not don't reply to my post...........

bad2dbone 05-27-2011 04:24 AM

But anyways people got everything going just really don't know where to put the text code i put it in the text box and position horizontal position 0

Oh, finally a real question :)

You may add another banner with click tracking enabled, which however never shows up (choose a location which isn't shown at your forums). Then, link this banner in your text ad and you are done. The link looks like: http://www.domain.tld/[forum/]rbs_banner.php?id=N, where N is the id of your hidden banner.

You will also need to make changes to your templates and add a few banners of your choice, as indicated in the included help files and the additional Flash movie linked in the very first post ;)

Thanks Giovanni . I spilled my coffee laughing when I read that response ... ;)

Appreciate all your mods and particularly the quick support you've provided us, which is why we've sent you several PayPal donations for different mods you've written. This one works really well for us, as does the "import images" one which continues to function flawlessly for us.

Regards,
Doug

Perfect. :) Do you know if linking the URL like this would have a negative effect search engine wise compared to just linking the website directly without the counter?

Thanks for your help!

Probably. But then where are you going to put your forum's logo?

I haven't tried it yet, but the header template may be a working area, too.

Thanks for your help!

External links should be linked with rel="nofollow", while using an internal redirect has about the same effect. A direct link to another site (no rel attribute) has only sense if it is a business partner and you wish to exchange banners for ranking reasons. A directly linked external site reduces the own ranking of page by 1 point, while using rel="nofollow" does not have side effects.

Yes. You may rotate any content as long as you provide the HTML code in the "Text" field.

Start with just one banner location and you can use the defaults. I still have "<!--@vbbanners:%d@-->" in the top box, and "_blank" in the bottom.

Sorry I can't explain what the Nth Placeholder box does as I agree it's a vague description. Are we supposed to enter a something else there if we want to use banners 1-9?

You can find an explanation of targets on the web: http://www.google.com/search?q=target+_blank
