You are not using vBESO properly then. My traffic has doubled and my google income has tripled in 2 months since installing vBSEO.

Are you using vb4?

if you look at the Feature list for vb4 compared to the old vb3 one (that actually did do some benefit) all it does for vb4 if rewrite the names, which comes as a free feature in vb4 now anyway, and could have been done for free with your .htaccess file on vb3 anyway

I could see you having better results with vb3, but theirs not way it is helping you on vb4, it has a whole list of control panel features that don't work, of course they don't tell you this when you are filling in your credit card details, and when you ask why the features don't work, first they tell you that it must be one of the plug-ins you are using, when i uninstall every plugin i have and then also check the meta data of vbulletin.com who do not use any plugins at all, they tell you it's still a release candidate and should not be used on any forum and the problems are down to vbulletin releasing buggy forum software

http://www.vbseo.com/f2/hidden-data-...eywords-42086/

VB4 has most of the features you were paying for in vbseo for vb3 for free, the only problem is is that vb4 is using to any characters for the meta description and to many key words and their are no options to reduce it, even if you have vbseo installed it will not overwrite the vbulletin meta settings and even when you put a limit on the number of character used in meta tags in your vbseo cpanel it is ignores and it continues to to use the first 450 characters of the first post (if their are that many characters in the first post) as the description, and used the first 49 words of the post as keywords

That's not what you were told.

You were told this:

As i highlighed you several times in your ticket this has nothing to do with vBSEO. Your meta tags are exactly same when vBSEO is disabled or enabled.
Later, it was suggested that you contact the mod author or vbulletin for support if you wanted the .. fluff, for want of a better word, in your posts from showing.

As I tried to tell you, vBSEO can't take a pile of jumbled content + bbcode + "YOU CANT SEE THIS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING FIRST" messages and create a beautiful piece of descriptive text for a meta description when you tell it "Make a meta description out of the first x words of my post".

Exactly my point, vbseo is supposed to change your meta tags and give you the option to limit the amount of characters used

I know the hidden text is down to the mod and needs to be resolved by the author the hidden text isn't my issue my issue anymore is the fact that vbseo will not overwrite the existing vbulletin metatags which is exactly what it is supposed to do and where most of the seo comes from, this would easily be solved by vbseo if the limit on characters worked, if your on vb4 and don;t belive me view your source code of a page with and without vseo enables and you'll see what i mean

care to mention them?

Not sure if this plugin is really that great for larger forums. I have 51 pages of keywords now and most are fairly bad (ie. questions)

lazerguy_82 03-29-2010 07:21 PM

Suggestion:
-possibility to limit the number of words. If I set this to 3, then if somebody searches 'cat' then it will be added to the tags, same thing if they search 'cat not eating', but not 'what to do if my cat is not eating'

Depends what you class as a larger forum, my stats are:

Threads, 26,280
Posts 58,398
Members 50,874

And at this moment i have 1937 pages of keywords

do you have a Google analytics's account? you can see if you have any changes their, i'm not sure 3 keywords will do much for you, the default is 25, i have mine set at 10

lazerguy_82 03-30-2010 11:18 PM

Suggestion:
-improve ban filter
Often I find myself wanting to ban words, which are contained in other words.
Example: if I ban 'ass' it would also ban 'assassination' which I don't want. obviously it should still ban other combinations like 'nice ass'
