In theory...if they follow the instructions and add their personal email addresses they could request a Password Reset. Once they have a known password they will have the option of logging in ether way.

IMHO that defeats the purpose of the mods a bit but it should work.

Furthermore, we will do our best to keep up with vBulletin updates to bring this product up to 4.0.

This particular release should have been an alpha release, if it was to be released at all. Fact is, you released this mod, let us find your bugs for you, and left us to fend for ourselves, while you "roll it out onto your own sites". IMO, it should not have been released until after you'd done this and found the majority of the bugs yourself, then released it as beta.

You pm'd me and asked me for a list of my issues, stating that you would help me get them sorted out on my site - over 3 weeks ago - and I haven't heard from you since, except the pm telling me that you're rolling it out on your own sites. Clearly your idea of supporting a release thread mod, beta or otherwise, is quite different from anyone else's idea of support. :)

It's only thanks to Wolfstream answering questions on this thread (i.e. doing your job), that this mod is working on as many sites as it is.

Nice work there Anders.

I can't take all the credit (though I can take a little bit of it) , Calash has helped out a good bit as well.

I do agree though, this is something that vb.org never should have seen in the state it's in. This is alpha, and barely even qualifies as that.

I understand you have priorities, but when you release something somewhere, you are obligated to fix it there as well as on your own site. You've grossly failed that obligation here.

I don't have a problem with running beta/rc software, as long as the developer supports the software in a timely fashion and fixes the bugs, in the same timely fashion. Promising support to individuals and not giving it, holding back critical bugfixes to "prioritize" them, this is absolutely ugly.

Sorry I didn't mean to leave you out Calash, or anyone else who's helped here.
Thanks to all of you.

If this mod is so bad why has it been promoted for mod of the month? Is it not possible to Updated to current buggy code and release updates in this thread?

I for one would pay a good amount of money to get a bugless facebook login feature.

Ohiosweetheart 09-11-2009 01:44 AM

No one said it was a bad mod. It is loaded with bugs, yes. It does need alot of work. And currently it is unsupported.

It was nominated for MOTM when it was first released, because it was being supported at that time, and everyone was excited about it - at that time.

fluentdesigns 09-11-2009 04:39 AM

So why dont we find someone that will build a bug free facebook login and support it? This is the second time its been attempted and still not good.

wolfstream 09-11-2009 05:29 AM

I agree that this kind of a mod is absolutely necessary, 100%.
The problem is that while it's necessary, developers don't have time to just throw out there on unpaid mods. It's not like we grow on trees (and I include myself very loosely in that category). It takes time to build something like this and get it working, which, to a developer = money .

After I'm done with my current project, I will look at this (don't get your hopes up, because I really can't afford to spend time on major plugins like this) and see if I can do something better than the other two, but I'm in the middle of something right now, and I have a very, very bad case of procrastinate-itis ;)

Edit:
Oh, and thanks for the comment on the site via PM, Peggy, I spend a LOT of time trying to get that stuff together as you can imagine, and comments like that are exactly what I do it for ;)

I would offer my help, but my code tends to be a bit messy, as you probably can see from my few posts here. My time is also a bit scattered at times as RL gets in the way of computer time.

I also lack a bit of knowledge about how to create and export products in VB. I am learning from my eFiction bridge but still have a way to go.

Still, if I can be of assistance let me know and I will see what can be done.
