I tried to install it and got this message, I am new to this! What could I have done wrong.

I'm not totally sure how to install these files but the way I did it was to type in the link to the file and click go. That is how I got that message

Strange, you shouldn't be getting that error.

Well, open up the vbhlinstall.php, go to line 7, find ./global.php, and replace with global.php

Should work now.

Quick question: How to i edit the: Web Site Quick Links and Friends and Affiliates.

Also is it really a necessity to have this image on the bottom: http://www.w3.org/Icons/valid-xhtml10.gif with the link...it takes me to a site im not quite sure what it's about....it's very strange...and it's talking about my site?? I don't understand it.

I think I'll kiss it when it works with vb 3 :D

I am in the process of converting a site that was based on phpBB to vB. The forums are moved, but I need to redo my portal pages. This script looks like a possibility, but I need to verify if it can do the things I need.

* multiple portal pages for a single vB installation (example, a car website might have a main portal page for its home, but then have a Ford page, a Chevy page, etc... )
* selecting more than one news forum for news on one page (this merges the news from the forums selected into one date sorted stream for the news on that page - example, the Ford page might have taurus, mustang, and explorer news forums included in Ford news.
* list of most popular threads in a forum
* list of most recently added threads in a forum
* list of most recently update threads in a forum
* ability to do multiple lists of news headlines per page.

What I need to do is currently in action at http://pdaphonehome.com/phpBB2/i700faq.php and http://pdaphonehome.com

Would this hack be a good base for me to recreate these pages? I don't mind making changes to it to get what I need, I just need a solid foundation.

I found out why i got the error it was stupididty on my part. But I'm still confused about the user friendlyness of this prog.

I can't figure out (probably cause it's 3 in the morning and I been going at it for 3 days str8 with little sleep) how to customize the page.

I'm good with html but php fries my brain.

Try searching for its current content in your templates.

The w3.org image is to show that your webpage is valid XHTML 1.0 transitional, which means a lot if you're a perfect coder (although making your site STRICT instead of transitional is much better, for me anyways ;))
