maybe they are not saying so the issue cannot be exploited, and by advertising the error they will be opening up your fourms to attack, ive temp disabled it as i think they wont issue a warning without a valid reason

Switch02 02-27-2009 04:18 PM

Installed good work

Maybe but by being vague they are making it an impossible decision for people running this. I have nearly 5k Facebook users, that's around 50% of my users. Disabling it is a MAJOR issue for me even short term and If I know where the error was or how bad the exploit is maybe I could make an informed choice but we cant with the information given.

no idea... they should tell us what the exploit is. many of us can fix it ourselves.

Also, does anyone know if you can get facebook connect to send posts to a facebook group?
That would be soooo awesome.

mykkal 02-27-2009 08:43 PM

facebook connect for Vbulletin redirects to the forum? How do I get it to redirect to the thread?

mykkal 02-27-2009 09:18 PM

Can a hook be made to tie into the Email Integration mod? That mod allows users to use email to reply threads or start new threads. I am using email integration and the once a user has registered they can use the email integration to post.

FaceBook connect also allows a user to post directly to thier facebook profiles a "note" with the title of the thread. This note redirects back to the actual forum thread.

Is it possible to get a hook made that will publish these threads when the user logs in or that will publish the threads to facebook when the email is recieved?
:)

Is a newer version being worked on for 3.8?

I've already made the changes to templates etc etc and I'm worried about having to make more due to some exploit. Any news on timeline??

RvG2 02-28-2009 10:50 AM

thanks for fixing 3.8 version :)

MiSs MeOw 03-01-2009 09:27 AM

works perfect absolutely great mod

bavetta 03-01-2009 05:06 PM

Seems like it works well to me. I have one comment, when you login with incorrect credentials or logout (access login.php with some variables, like login.php?do=logout&fblogout=true) the FBConnect box is not displayed alongside the regular login box. In the HTML source of the page it looks like it is calling the FB Box Section but it does not display like it should and like it does when viewing any other forum page.

Thanks
Ryan

Thanks for the great plug-in

I would like that new users that connect through Facebook Connect could enter the user that
got them to join as referal.

Is that possible, I was planning to have a referral contest.

Regards,
Thomas

So what's fixed/new in the new version? :)

BeFit4Free 03-01-2009 10:10 PM

Hey guys,
I am having a hard time getting Facebook Connect to link my existing profile.
Also,
When I try to post a message, it gives me this error message:
The following errors occurred with your submission:
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters.

Any ideas?

I think the plugin needs an option to relogin or associate a facebook login with the vBuletin member account. But it doesn't. So people cannot log out of facebook connect or change facebook accounts.

I noticed that if I log out and log back in that FaceBook connect uses the same credentials as before.

kevinrstruck 03-03-2009 02:26 PM

I installed. Just about to do template edits when this pops up on any page on my forum including the backend admin area so I cannot even see the admin section.

Warning: require_once([path]/includes/facebook/facebook.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/functions.php(5584) : eval()'d code on line 46

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/autumn/public_html/forums/includes/facebook/facebook.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/autumn/public_html/forums/includes/functions.php(5584) : eval()'d code on line 46

Any help would be greatly appreciated since my forum is now down.

Upload your files again. Looks like they are missing from the directory they should be in.

kevinrstruck 03-03-2009 02:39 PM

Uploaded all files again, still get the error.

Update. I can get into my admin area, although my forum is still unreachable. I uninstalled the product and everything went back to normal.

Not sure what happened.

mykkal 03-03-2009 03:21 PM

whats the permissions on the files? if they are there i'm thinking permissions...

You did put all the files in the Upload folder in the root and NOT the UPLOAD folder itself, correct?

kevinrstruck 03-03-2009 04:58 PM

I figured out my mistake...uploaded into root directory.

I got it working but not when I click on the fbconnect button, the popup that lets me connect with my FB profile is missing the "Connect" button. See image below.

When I click on the button that allows me to use my current forum ID, it forces me to login using that ID and then I see nothing about FB anywhere in the forum.

mykkal 03-03-2009 05:03 PM

^^^ yea the mod needs work. I've tried getting in touch with the mod writter but haven't gotten a response just yet.

kevinrstruck 03-03-2009 06:45 PM

I cannot get this to work. I can't get it to work for existing users at all. It works for new users somewhat. They can register for the site but no one is givent he option of posting a thread to their Facebook wall and even though I mapped the profile pic to the FB profile pic, that doesn't show up for anyone.

kevinrstruck 03-03-2009 06:59 PM

Now new users report that in fact new posts are published to their FB wall, but it is automatic meaning when they make the post in the forum, it does not ask them if they want it published to FB or not.

They can set what the application can do inside facebook's application settings.

Anyone herd from the developer? I sent him payment to do a reinstall and had some questions as well. Still nothing.

Kevin, I've got the same problem (see attached). Actually, the connect button is there, and you can get to it if you tab through the fields (which of course, most people won't know/think to do).

Hopefully there's an easy fix that someone will share! :)

So the problem is the size of the iframe. Is there a way to increase that?

fmckinnon 03-04-2009 01:48 AM

Hey, I accidentally checked the box to "do this always" and said I did NOT want to publish on my FaceBook account - which was a mistake. Now, I never get the option - how can I reset it so that I have the option, once again, each time to post to my profile? I have full access to the server, code, and phpmyAdmin ... please advise.

Go to the facebook website, login, and click on application settings. change the option there.

kevinrstruck 03-04-2009 05:16 AM

Does anyone have the profile picture feature working?

Terminot 03-05-2009 02:09 PM

I receive the following error when trying to connect via FB Plugin. Running the latest version.

Quote:

De Facebook Connect cross-domain ontvanger URL (http://www.gamequarter.be/new/v4/forum/xd_receiver.ht) moet de juiste Connect URL (http://www.GameQuarter.be/new/v4/forum/xd_receiver.htm) van de toepassing als voorvoegsel hebben. Je kunt de Connect URL instellen in de toepassingsinstellingen editor.
Any ideas how to solve this? I've filled in the URL correctly on Facebook.

EDIT:

Changing the url on Facebook to *.ht fixed the issue. However, I'm sure this is not the correct solution?

zippys 03-06-2009 06:58 PM

Awesome plugin, just perfect and its great intergration. MARKED AS INSTALLED!!

Question:
When the facebook user posts, it goes into moderation. I adjusted their usergroup to be in the standard registered user group id:2 which is what the other people who use the forum are in. They are able to post without moderation. Any idea why this is happening?

edit: it seems you need to check the notification in your vbulletin account before it allows you to post without moderation.

Under vbulletin field, pull down Profile Picture and for the Facebook field pull down Profile Picture (100 x 300 max)px

I got it working, I had to change the allowable profile picture size to 300X300 to match the facebook profile picture. Works fine now.
