I can tell you a workaround for this problem. Go to "Settings" and then "General Settings". Set your editor to "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing"- it will fix your problem.

no mrfarb, that isn't true at all. It's interesting if that actually worked for you though, especially since the WYSIWYG settings you are referring to are not even listed under the General Settings! Alternate universe perhaps? :)

I think this is the highest in priority, I can confirm this.
Members are complaining they cannot login, obviously because they cannot see what they are typing.

Also a question...when you update all these fixes, and I install the template, does that mean that my previous 4.0.2 darkvision templates will get reverted?

not intending to be critical of anyone at all, but you folks really need to use firefox and download the firebug plugin for it asap...it will tell you exactly where these styles are located and even allow you to temporarily edit them right in your browser before finalizing those changes in the actual stylesheet...

In this case you'll find these *white textbox* issues are all solveable by going to the default darkvision styles folder (00014L) and editing the stylesheet called main_rollup.css. Look for the code that reads:
Code:

}
.textbox, textarea, select {
-moz-border-radius-bottomleft:3px;
-moz-border-radius-bottomright:3px;
-moz-border-radius-topleft:3px;
-moz-border-radius-topright:3px;
background-color:#FFFFFF;
border:1px solid #6B91AB;
outline-color:-moz-use-text-color;
outline-style:none;
outline-width:0;
padding:4px 5px;
}

change the color #FFFFFF to the usual default color #25292C and save/upload your changes. The same thing applies to other textbox color issues in this style...

or wait for the second coming if you prefer...but if you are losing your people over this, it's not that hard to fix. I am NOT a coding genius...not even close...but even I can sort this one out...so can you! :)

you have to enable stylesheets in the ACP to access your stylesheets...
settings-->options-->style & language settings-->Store CSS Stylesheets as Files?
set this to *yes* and make sure you read and follow the instructions on that prompt. You'll have to set up the correct folder for it and give it a chmod777 so the ACP can write to it...

then when you use firebug it will start defaulting to those stylesheets!

note: in some cases (like mine) you may have to negotiate with your ISP to be able to set the chmod correctly on that folder...some ISP's are more security anxious than others...

m1thr0s 03-07-2010 07:58 AM

I should probably say i don't think this is a permanent fix for darkvision itself...but I don't grok the whole thing with changing textbox colors with corresponding font color changes etc...too complicated for me. this fix will make most of your textboxes dark all at once so your people won't get confused by the white-on-white at registration or during posting...

I wouldn't post it if I hadn't already tested it and found it to work.

Also be aware that firebug translates color into hex color values...the actual stylesheet is using rgb colors in this instance...an unnecessary inconsistency in my opinion...just change rgb 255, 255, 255 to #25292C;

Thank you for the support. I appreciate those that help manage this massive thread.

almost nothing is ever 100% perfect, but this is such a great style impulse8...a serious design standard and for free! I do hope you get around to hammering out the chinks on it. :)

now I have a question for you...there seem to be a few things that are NOT handled in the stylesheets. In that case, do we look to the xml file itself? That would seem to make the most sense but thought I should verify. I'm hardly an advanced coder - just stumbling my way through all of this cuz it needs to be dealt with.
