What's wrong now, it doesn't show the news, and i am stiull having problem getting the layout to look the same..

Run the install file (vbhlinstall.php) for vBHome Lite again, and pay close attention to the top menu options ... click on the link called "Article Indexer" or something... I think it was mentioned in the readme file ;)

As for your problem with regards to the layout, that will have more to do with your HTML skills rather than vBHome itself ;) Mess around with the templates - it isn't that hard...

Here's a hint tho: tech-heaven's main table uses a fixed width ... go from there...

BTW, i had to edit the templates manually to get {imageshome} out of there :mad: [/B]
Editing templates is always the fun part in vBulletin ...

As for changing the width, how the heck can i do that when there are so many css files, i have gone through almost all of them and still no luck, i did get the header though

Why won't the article icon show up now

Crinos 06-09-2003 04:46 AM

First of all, no offense, but you whine too much ...

Anyway,

1.) DO i have to run the article indexer each time i post news?

NO ... There is a readme with that vBHome installation ... readit... it tells you the only instances where you need to run it.

2.) As for changing the width, how the heck can i do that when there are so many css files, i have gone through almost all of them and still no luck, i did get the header though

First of all, there is only ONE CSS, and that's in home_headinclude ... second, the CSS file does not control the width of your tables - they only control your fonts colors, font sizes, table colors, etc. To modify your table width you go to your "home" template, or any other template where the table width is specified. Are you sure you know what you're doing?

3.) Why won't the article icon show up now

Maybe coz you removed it when you modified your templates? View the original template for home_articlebit, and search for this line:
Code:

<a href="$bburl/showthread.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&amp;threadid=$article[threadid]">
<img src="{imageshome}/article.gif" alt="Read article" class="imgbordermiddle" height="14" width="53" />
</a>

That's the line you removed when you edited your templates, so it's your fault they're not there ;) Put it back in if you like - where to put it is up to you, figure it out...

Oh, and by the way, YOU'RE WELCOME :)

RDX1 06-09-2003 06:03 AM

I read the readme, i'm not dumb :rolleyes:

I got it working fine, and i removed the post icon since it wouldn't work, plus takes up too much space, so i'm getting used to it.

I pm'ed a guy at tech-forums.net and he helped me, told me how to get it to work

======================

As for do i know what i am doing, i know html very well, but do i know the vbhome lite files? No, so i guess i don't know what i am doing..

And yes i specified the widt and it didn't resize it, but now i got it to work.
