Thanks for the quick fix!

OverhaulNetwork 09-13-2011 07:31 AM

I am wondering if it is possible to have the raffles remain active right up until the time of being drawn. So far I am experiencing that once it becomes the Draw Date that tickets are no longer purchasable and the raffle is removed from the active raffles sidebar and Raffles page.

I want to draw the raffle at 3PM and it would be ideal for tickets to be able to be purchased right up until I draw that raffle.

Another weird thing I am encountering is with the Scheduled Tasks Draw raffles

My board time zone is -7 so I am having to set hour to 18 to make a 3PM draw time. I am trying to make it 3:05PM so i can decide to manually draw if possible. However setting the first minute field from * to 5 has no effect. There are 6 minute fields and I am confused to what they do.

The entry period ends when it does to give an opportunity to check the entries for any invalid entries prior to the actual draw. It is hard coded and can't be changed.

It also prevents members from complaining that they didn't get an opportunity to enter a raffle because they didn't know when it ends. I've had that happen and the answer is always easy this way. The raffle entry period ends at 12:00 midnight the date of the draw.

In your case for the draw to take place at 3:00pm, you would set the hour to 18 and the first minute field to 0. For 3:05pm it would be the hour to 18 and the first minute field to 5.

Now if the draw is not taking place precisely at 3:00pm, this is not a problem with the raffle task. vBulletin scheduled tasks run by visits to your site. If there are no visitors the scheduled tasks do not run and pile up waiting for the next visitor. So if say 6 tasks are waiting to run and the raffle draw is the 6th one, it could be a long time before the draw actually takes place. Because they take place one at a time with each visit to your site.

The only sites that run tasks at almost the exact scheduled time are very busy sites with lots of traffic.

If you're thinking the time on your server vs. the scheduled time is wrong, see this post for an in-depth answer... https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=196

So there is no way I could change the code for my unique needs? I run a live stream and draw raffles live. There are lots of viewers that get excited but do not have entries in the raffle. I would like to give them up to the time I draw to get tickets. Otherwise I take allot of flak from viewers that don't have them. Hard to tell them they have to wait until next week.

There's no easy way to make the system work the way you want it to.

I'll take a look at what can be done, but this won't be a quick fix. It may be a few days before I can get to it.

You need to understand, the system was designed to take the human element out of the system. You're asking me to put it back in. ;)

Thanks for a neat nice looking raffle system. This is what I needed and I greatly appreciate it.

Is there a way we can add couple of conditions:

1. When a member hits enter they get one entry.
2. When they tweet about the promotion they get one more entry.
3. If they hit facebook like they get one more entry.

# 2 and # 3 would be optional. Is this possible? I already have the share more mod installed by BOP5.

I'll need to download and install that mod on my test server to see what is needed to do what you want.

Give me a few days. I'm extremely busy at the moment.

Funny I too was going to request these features. Man if you finish all this I will need your PayPal so I can fire a donation your way.

LOL.. don't get your hopes up for the button clicks.

It's all going to depend on whether or not there is a way to tell which one was clicked.
