from now its hard to take support for this mod because they have released a new mod (social). they do not give support for old modules that they released when they release a new module. this is just my observations.

It's a two step process:

1. Upload the .htaccess file we provided to the /tags/ directory.

2. Go to your admincp and under Zoints Thread Tags > Options, go to "Tags URL Type" and select the 3rd option (mod_rewrite)

Please note your server must be configured to allow mod_rewrite

Go to admincp > languages and phrases > search in phrases

Search for: zointstags_x_threads_forum_tags_by_zoints (variable only)

Edit that. If you only want the thread tag, then edit the phrase so that it is only {1}

I installed everything on VB 3.6.2 board, I have vbseo running I added the vbseo plugin mentioned in the first post, but when I goto tag pages (like I click on a tag) I get a blank page... any help appreciated. thank you.

I have read the article DChapman links us to in the first page on the importance of tagging. I think there is no need to downplay traditional file system. Each system has its own advantages and disadvantages. for one thing, you can't tell the subordinational relations between tags in a normal tag system, not to mention Zonits tag system's inability to show any relationship between tags. It's not the way we organize things. How do you understand a concept? One of the ways is to understand its parent-concept or child concept or the substitutional instance of a concept. The other way is to understand its related concepts, including contradictory or other relevant concepts etc..

The personal Brain, a mind mapping software used in the DVD verison of Encyclopedia Britannica and Webster Dictionary, shows how it's possible to merge both "tag system" and "file system" together. Each central bubble in the brain is linked to two kinds of bubbles, parent or child bubbles on top/ below, and related concept bubbles on the left. The former resembles to a file system while the later a tag system. This mind mapping system is a network, contrary to a linear, one-level system in Zoints tag system.

For the Usergroup based Favorite personal tag which was mentioned before, its' pretty self-explanatory. It's just an additional feature only. I hope DChapman will put more effort in building a related tag system. If Zoints can merge both "file system" and "tag system" together like The Personal Brain does so that not only related tags are shown but also sub-tags are shown, that would be great!!

How to define "related tag" properly? thread tag cloud? It's another challenge for Dchapman.

Despite the "criticism" above, I love zoints tag system. It's something I think we should add to make it better.
