Is it just me, or isn't it kind of obvious that the instructions are at the top of the page, and also repeated in a file called info.txt in the download itself? This mod is so simple, it doesn't really need any further explanation.

the text file merely explains how to import the product and set the options in the admin panel. considering that is the easiest part of the whole thing, the text file falls way short of explaining how to get the product to run on any of our pages.

so, can anyone point us to a place that would explain how to actually get the thing working?

I note also that you have given pretty much zero information about exactly WHAT is not working. If you expect others to help you, then give them some information they can maybe work with, for example "the link doesn't appear at the top of the page". I'm just guessing here (since you gave no information), but it might be that your template needs to be manually edited. The author has kindly provided the instructions to do this immediately under the first instructions under the heading "optional".

Guys probably the wrong thread to ask in, but looking for a donation mod for my new vB forum which uses vBadvanced and can't decide between this and the 'Paypal Easy Donate' Mod.

I'm looking for reliability, latest vBulletin compatability, regular updates as well as vBa CMS integration.

Any tips on which way to go?

You just import the product, set the options as it says in the info.txt, and a donate link appears in your navbar. The colour of that link is set in Phrases (just search in Phrases for "Donate" - either change the colour or remove the font tags). Click the donation link and you should see your page.

Perhaps you are expecting it to be harder than it is? Cybernetec's PayPal Donate has to be the easiest add-on ever. If your donations page is not showing, look at any other mods/hacks/addons you may have installed. They are really the only things that can mess it up. If you can't import the product, check your server setup. safe_mode can interfere with vB's ability to import and load addons.

I've used both, with vBAdvanced, but that was a few releases of vB ago. I dropped VBA so have no idea of compatibility with 3.6.7. Of the two PayPal mods, I much prefer this one. Its an absolute breeze to set up, does exactly what you need, and Cybernetec's code is always reliable, kept up-to-date, and support is pretty good too.
The only reason I don't have many posts in vb.org is because I mainly use Cybernetec's mods. ;)

Awesome work Cybernetec! I've just upgraded and reverted all my changes back to default. Thanks for incorporating my suggestions so quickly. I've just got to report a few issues:

If no amount as selected as suggested amount and options are set to "Suggest and Custom" then the drop down box appears with "custom" but no box appears for text input. This isn't such a big problem, since I then set "Custom Only" and the box appeared. (in the first case, if suggested amounts were entered, the custom box did appear).

However, when operating in the "Custom Only" mode, new payments are not entered. In other words if I go and press the donation button I get transferred to paypal correctly, but no entry gets put into the list of donators - I have to enter it manually. As soon as I switch back to ""Suggested and Custom" the entry is placed into the list of donators.

If you want me to test an updated version before you upload it here, just send me a PM and I'll check it for you straight away.

I'm guessing some sort of automatic confirm via the paypal return page function might be too hard? :(
