<title>Faceplates Q&A</title>
<link>http://www.360on360.com/index.cfm?mode=entry&entry=CF28E126-C0CC-65D6-CFF5ECEFCFCBDC6F</link>
<description>A Q&amp;A regarding the faceplates is up at Xbox.com, with lots of answers on the availability and customization of faceplates for the Xbox 360. Q:&nbsp;I was wondering if attaching the faceplate changes the software skins on Xbox 360, or are they just like a phone's faceplates?A: Across the entire Xbox 360 system, hardware and software integration has been a big priority, which means that for every Xbox 360 faceplate at retail, there will be a matching skin you can download. But to add a bit of mystery, not all the themes match their faceplate in exactly the same way. View Full Q&amp;A Here</description>

GenSec 08-19-2005 05:50 PM

And how to decode RSS feeds encoding in other (non engl) language?

Zero Tolerance 08-20-2005 12:08 AM

@ GrendelKhan{TSU - Okay i just looked closer at your error:
Quote:

While attempting to parse the document located at "http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newson...nt_page/rss.xml" the system encountered the following error:
Invalid URL To RSS Feed Given

Please check settings related to this issue.
Note how i have made the whole URL bold to make it stand out, and furthermore, italic'd a section of it, that might point out what you have done wrong, if not then here's the problem: You have copied the url in my main post as text, instead of right clicking on the url and selecting Copy Shortcut, vbulletin strips the size of the url down by adding dots into the url ;)

@ ggiersdorf - Did you try the auto detect rss settings system?

@ GenSec - The next version will include the ability to replace characters to create your own parser globally and singularly for each feed.

- Zero Tolerance

Gizmo5h1t3 08-20-2005 12:38 AM

got this one working a treat, running 6 bots in their own sections now...excellent work m8

Great news! Will be waiting....

wattieuk 08-20-2005 04:09 PM

I get this error when I run the script:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in forum/includes/functions.php on line 4240

man, I sooo wish that was it. I did copy the full url (and just tried again...just in case) AND tried about about 10 different feeds and all of them give me the same.

eg: this is the full url right?
htt p:// news rss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml ?
(spaces add to prevent linking)
or this:

ht tp://n ews.nationalgeographic.com/index.rss

Something is causing the problem....and at this point I'm thinking it may not be the plugin (maybe a conflict with another hack??)

I was lookign forward to this one too...and your hacks all rule and you are pumping them out...so I can't really complain....

but its just frustrating . :( dunno where to start to solve this.

grrr...this makes me want it to work even more!! :(

GrendelKhan{TSU 08-21-2005 10:54 AM

man...ok... I went and uninstalled and installed again...with all my plugins disabled.

same error.

then went and disabled every product one by one...checking each time.....

same error.

this is making me wnaa through my monitor out the window. grr. sorry....just venting.

I tried this rss http://animal.discovery.com/news/news.rss
and the full url of the bbc one.

any other thoughts?

hobbes747 08-21-2005 09:49 PM

Zero Tolerance, wow, just wow. This is so incredibly cool. Thank you!

Is there anyway to limit how many articles it gets from a feed? Or how often it updates per feed? Would it need a cron for each feed? Like, CNN updates regularly but Wired not so much. I'm getting duplicate threads.

Also, it has some issue with getting a feed from Slashdot due to their formatting. Is there a way to set it up to accept it? http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot

Is there anyway this could be hacked to post to a specific thread? Like say I had a weather thread and just wanted the feed to post at the end of it?

What about specifying the thread icon for each feed?

Kirk Y 08-22-2005 02:45 AM

This is just what I was looking for... God I love youe Zero.

GrendelKhan{TSU 08-22-2005 07:22 AM

man I am sooo jealous...everyone's seems to be working but mine. :( :(

Gizmo5h1t3 08-22-2005 06:44 PM

upgraded, works a treat like it always has done.
only thing is, its working a little TOO good.

as some of the feeds im grabbing arent updated as much as some of the others, im now getting shed loads of duplicates all over my board...

is there any way to control the number of feeds its grabbing???

i would like this as well

Kirk Y 08-22-2005 08:59 PM

When I select Run Now in the Scheduled Tasks for RSS Feeds Update, I get this error:

Code:

RSS Feeds Update

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/socom/public_html/forum/includes/functions.php on line 4240

Edit: Also... I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but a lot of times the feeds posted have html in them... I'd like the html displayed properly, but I don't want to turn HTML on in the Forum for all members to use. Is there anyway the HTML can be allowed only for Administrators, as I've set my Username as the one that's posting the RSS Feeds?

Dream 08-24-2005 11:54 PM

tried changing

PHP Code:

        $newpost['message'] = $message

for

PHP Code:

        $newpost['message'] = convert_url_to_bbcode($message);

in class_ffrss.php with no luck :(

Dream 08-24-2005 11:58 PM

added

PHP Code:

require_once(DIR '/includes/functions_newpost.php');

after

PHP Code:

require_once(DIR '/includes/functions_databuild.php');

and now the links inside the news posts are automatically parsed ^_^

Gizmo5h1t3 08-25-2005 06:31 AM

im being over run by duplicate threads!!!!!

rinkrat 08-25-2005 11:46 AM

Mine's working great! I just put url tags around the story link in the setup.

i would suggest having it store all news entries in a seperate mysql table with a unique key on the title. that would keep you from getting all the dupes.

that sounds convincing..unfortunatley u might as well ask me to perform brain surgery mate...i have no idea what that means..lmao

nuclei 08-25-2005 05:13 PM

it was more an idea for Zero Tolerance to integrate into the next update maybe :)

:(

anyone have any clue where to start tracking down this error?

And I POSITIVE its not the feed. I've tried it many feeds, the one posted here and with the auto detect. :(

xug 08-26-2005 11:45 AM

The Dupe is a huge problem, everything working fine finally, like the scheduled task i finally got it working late last night and this morning I see a quadruple amount of dupes.

Please solve this asap, maybe the above suggestion is not that bad at all to put a unique key in a table ;)

Please help us as soon as possible.

Still Thumbs up to this hack.

FASherman 08-27-2005 08:03 PM

Some feeds insert HTML into their feeds, things such as images and the like.

Can we have an option to strip html from a feed?

Dream 09-01-2005 01:09 AM

Id like to see this support atom feeds :P

rinkrat 09-01-2005 01:53 AM

I love the html in the feeds, I'm getting pictures and everything.

Gizmo5h1t3 09-01-2005 05:51 AM

any update on the "dupe" problem???

FASherman 09-01-2005 01:44 PM

But that requires you to have HTML enabled. I'd rather gnaw off my arm than open up that security hole, so this really should have an option to strip htlm tags from the feed.

monkeyhead 09-03-2005 12:05 AM

*fixed*

FASherman 09-03-2005 02:31 AM

Another suggestion...

I'd like to be able to limit the number of posts, regardless of how many feed items are new.

For instance, even if 15 items are new, I only want to post the 3 newest.

correct.

Any luck Zero with the Dupe problem.

berberber 09-05-2005 09:59 AM

I feel your pain, I just put set my Blogs to be posted in a special forum that allowed HTML, but disallowed the capability of user posts.

berberber 09-07-2005 08:22 AM

Currently because of the dupe problem, i execute the script from time to time my self, so i can control the output, and the double posts, would be nice, if it was improved, but ok so too.

Thanks for the mod

Bobby S 09-08-2005 07:21 AM

I love this work. Thank you

The only minor problem I have is that

http://news.google.co.uk/news?num=10...ian&output=rss isnae recognised as valid rss. I'm sure I'll work it out given time.
