Maybe there wasn't one :)
Dunno how others handle it, but I only send update emails when critical/security relevant bugs have been fixed.

Then you most likely did smth. wrong.
Check that all plugins are installed and active, check if the template is there.

Yes its all working on 3.6...sorry your having problems dude... there might be another plugin making it fail... try un-installing and re-install

no template changes, 'linkhits' is automagically installed...

I see Linkhits: 0 behind the forum but clicking on it is not increasing the counter.
The table fields are all there and correct.
I cannot see whats causing this cause it worked for me on vB 3.5
Any more ideas?

Ok here is the fix. Causing the problem is vBSEO > 3.x
It has a new function called "Replace 'Forum Links' with direct links to target URLs?"
If this is set to YES, the HitCounter Plugin is not working anymore.
Disable it and all is working fine again!

I made a small modification to this hack.

Copy images of 185x25 to /images/misc in the format: banner_<forumid>.gif
Reimport the product and make sure that overwrite is turned on.

Ahhh seems like it's not working on 3.6.7!! I installed it and the redirected hits are not updating. :( here's an example:

Everything works for this in vb 3.6 but the header_redirect hook. It displays the counts but never updates them. Any ideas what may have changed?

Never mind, it was a setting in vBSEO. Works fine.

Fresh board without other hacks using 3.6.8 level 1. Template visible but no place to activate hack, in fact, read comment that hack located in "forum edit" which I assume is "Forum Manager" yet no info at all.

Too bad. I would really have liked this hack on my board for off-site downloads. :(
