Changing announcements (I'd like suggestion on their formatting, bold etc, and maybe a hr to devide the page abit?)

Quote BBcode

Maybe move to a tannish or somthing color scheme, or offer multile colors, at least to show more than plain white.

It doesnt seem to work for cell phones with small er displays. Any idea how to change things so they are not all scrunched up? I would love to have this work for cell phones.

dirtycrow 11-08-2005 06:02 PM

great skin, but a few comments, i installed it and then uninstalled it.

you mention - Template changes. what are they?

and i don't see a way for members to make a new thread. some functions are missing like the nav bar. and basically anything that needs a button like new thread, new post, etc etc. is missing. and is there a zip file?

i'm running 3.5.1, is this part of my issues?

This style is lite and thus some things are not in yet, its also in beta.

There is currently no way to make a thread, and theres no real need for a navbar IMO.

its designed to be able to browse the forums, and add a response at this time.

Zachery,

Any ideas with my post above?

Haven't done any massive testing, but will be in the future, depending on the cell phone things could be limited and theres not too much I can do about this...

ZGeek 11-09-2005 02:46 AM

Very groovy. Using this lite skin helped me loose 3 kilos. :D
Great work Zachery.

thank you. it's a very good skin. IMHO it would be a GREAT skin if it had the full functionality of a normal skin tho.

Your welcome to go and design one for your needs. I am designing how I see fit :)

hugh_ 11-09-2005 11:34 AM

For anyone who's interested I've added it to my forum as well... Great thanks for an excellent new style!

94civicEX 11-21-2005 07:28 PM

Just added this style to my forum.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place, but I can't see where you can make a new thread?

Also, once you change your style, I don't see a place to change it back.

At this time there is no way to make a new thread, or change the style back.

I will be adding stuff later, this style is in BETA and clearly marked.

Sounds good :).

I'll have to hotlink them to their User CP, lol.

Thing is that the usercp is still very much in an unfriendly format.

I'm trying to track down emulators or get a cell that has this sort of acess...

or at least a pda..

Yea, but they have to be able to change it back somehow haha.

I'm just talking about when they are back online and don't want the format anymore.

I'm also hoping to write a plugin in the future that will identify mainstream pda/mobile/etc browsers and instantly redirect them to this style.

Altho I haven't been able to collect much data on pda browser User Agents

Might be better to just affiliate the skin with a specific address, ie http://wap.vbulletin.org/forum or https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/wap.

One vBulletin forum I can think of that uses a WAP extensively is http://www.sprintusers.com

http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/wap/

I know they do ;) check the showgroups page.

Thats always an idea, but it gets more complicated after that.

sprintusers uses a wiforums addon that does more than just a style.

I installed this skin yesterday, and it works great. I tweaked it a little bit, noticeably the quick style chooser. Without this, it's a bit difficult to switch back to the standard skin. I copied the code from the another skin, and put it at the very bottom of the header template of this skin. It seems to be working fine. :) Thanks Zachery.

Code:

<table>
<tr>
<td class="tfoot">
                        <select name="styleid" onchange="switch_id(this, 'style')">
                                <optgroup label="$vbphrase[quick_style_chooser]">
                                        $quickchooserbits
                                </optgroup>
                        </select>
                </td>
</tr>
</table>

I really wish I had a pda / cellphone to do etsting with though :/

All you need is the PalmSource simulator, which you can find at this link. Unfortunately you have to sign up as a developer, but it's easy and free.

Once the simulator is on your desktop, then you can install a web browser. Treos are running WebPro and another browser you can try is Xiino.

Either one will allow you to install and test easily on your desktop.

Hope that helps!

Vtec44,

Thank you! That was the one thing missing from the style and I wasn't sure how to add it.

Now the style is perfect for my group who use Palm OS devices all the time to access the site - Nashville Palm Users Group

Thanks Zachary for coming up with this style!

*Bump* I love this skin.. Just what i wanted for my dial up users.. Any updates on this lite skin?

ahmed-samara 12-25-2005 11:52 AM

Nice style.

Paul M 12-25-2005 12:42 PM

Soft deleted posts don't show up as lite, they seem to inherit the parent style.

southernlady 01-06-2006 04:41 AM

One of my forum members requested a minimal theme and I remembered there was one here. He has a Treo and needs one that loads fast. Thanks, Zachery.

hydn 01-07-2006 02:59 PM

my wap site works... http://wap.pinstack.com

however the login function fails it says sucessful and the goes back to enter loigin.

test it using:

user: wapproject

Pass: 111111

Any help thanks!

Stelios 01-24-2006 01:34 PM

Generally it works, but its not useable since you can not change style, you can only change the style throught the admicp. But in somecases you can not do it, even when you change it throught the admincp the user can still only see the lite version. My guess is that if you disconnect the cockies will be deleted and you will be able to see the style that you choose from the admin cp. The only problem is that you CANNOT logout............
You must fix these bugs because there is no reason for anyone to use it, the style works like a trap.

gulldarek 02-01-2006 04:48 PM

Stelios: there is very powerfull variable passed through webpage address:

STYLEID=1

Where 1 == id of your default style...

im sure it would work on the new wap phones also? ones that can view images n stuff??

Problem is that I have to re-write entire templates to be much less fancy and have much more overhead.

tbaleno 03-09-2006 06:14 AM

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I added the following code to
Forum Display Templates -> Forum Display

Right after $navbar paste the following code. I'm not 100% sure this will work for everyone but I thought I'd share.

<table><tr><td class="smallfont"><if condition="$show['newthreadlink']"><a href="newthread.php?$session[sessionurl]do=newthread&amp;f=$foruminfo[forumid]" rel="nofollow">$vbphrase[post_new_thread]"</a><else />&nbsp;</if></td>
</tr></table>

Zachery did you ever look into this!! About switching the style to PDA/mobile users?

Sportsrant.com

Zachery 04-03-2006 06:02 PM

You can just add a link to the style to get back to the default.

PsiNyde 04-07-2006 01:52 PM

kick arse style man. i really needed a pda skin too!

added tbaleno's new thread code to FORUMHOME template - works great!
added some logout coding to the NAVBAR template directly under the login forum:
PHP Code:

<if condition="$show['member']">
            <
td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout&amp;logouthash=$bbuserinfo[logouthash]onclick="return log_out()">$vbphrase[log_out]</a></td

added this code to FOOTER template. add at very top which just sends you back to styleid 1 [or whichever you choose]:
PHP Code:

<div class="smallfont" align="center"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php?styleid=1">Exit PDA Skin</a></div

OR

you can add this to the FOOTER template to add the style selection box:
PHP Code:

<form action="$vboptions[forumhome].php" method="get">

<
table cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]cellspacing="0" border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]class="page" align="center">
<
tr>
    <if
condition="$show['quickchooser']">
        <
td class="tfoot">
            <
select name="styleid" onchange="switch_id(this, 'style')">
                <
optgroup label="$vbphrase[quick_style_chooser]">

$quickchooserbits

</optgroup>
            </
select>
        </
td>
    </if>
</
tr>
</
table>
</
form

*clicked install*

that is exactly what i needed!!!
